THE CAMPAIGN FOR XAVERIAN

AT A GLANCE

A Catholic, college preparatory school for students in grades 6-12, Xaverian is a thriving learning community that challenges its young women and men to fortify their faith in God, feed their intellectual curiosities, forfeit selfishness for Christian service, foster self-growth, and forge lasting relationships, ultimately shaping confident and courageous leaders.

Anchored in God’s plan, we… Serve with Humility; Lead with Compassion; Learn with Zeal; Live with Simplicity; Pray with Trust.

Christ is our Harbor. We are Xaverian.

A FOUNDATION ROOTED IN VIRTUE

A true sense of community and responsibility for others infuses every aspect of life in a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School. That was true when Xaverian welcomed its first class in 1957, and it is still true today. A Xaverian education helps students develop the attitudes and values essential for a life of Christian service and social consciousness. The Xaverian Brothers have undoubtedly played a pivotal role in shaping our school’s identity and values through their commitment to education, faith, and community. Their legacy of mentorship and dedication to nurturing each student’s potential continues to inspire both faculty and students, creating a vibrant school culture rooted in respect and excellence.

THE SCHOOL THAT LIVES ON: ST.

MICHAEL’S DIOCESAN HIGH SCHOOL

In 1926, on the corner of 43rd Street in Brooklyn, our history began in the halls of St. Michael’s Diocesan High School. Though long since gone, the legacy thrives in the hearts and minds of alumni to this very day.

St. Michael’s opened its doors to the first freshmen class in 1926 and closed the same doors to the last senior class in 1960. What happened in-between is a commendable feat. Over 2,500 young men were exposed to an environment that fostered a commitment to God, country, and one another.

With over 60 years of excellence,

Xaverian is a thriving learning community that boasts an enrollment of over 1,750 students across grades 6-12.

With a deep-rooted promise to provide the best education possible to their students, Xaverian has spent the better half of the past decade on enhancements that meet and exceed the expectations of our present and future students.

A NOTE ON ENROLLMENT

Xaverian's place as one of the premier New York City private Catholic schools has only been fortified since 2015. Xaverian's enrollment is currently the largest ever since its inception.

Positive word-of-mouth, Xaverian's strong academic and extracurricular programs, and a stellar reputation for providing a Catholic faith-based education has increased the demand for a Xaverian education.

A NOTE ON ENROLLMENT

Simply put, Xaverian navigated its way through today's modern and everchanging world – and with a challenging educational program, competitive athletic opportunities, and a campus and community that promotes the growth of the entire student, intellectually, physically, and spiritually – it has solidified its place as the leader of the pack across New York City's educational landscape.

PHASE B: TODAY ’ S SHORE

Xaverian has recently completed working on three projects within Phase B that further enhance the Clipper footprint. These projects mark the complete modernized renovation of every occupied space within 7100 Shore Road since opening in 1957.

CAFETERIA RENOVATION

One of the last remaining spaces built in 1957, Xaverian’s cafeteria underwent a much needed facelift and structural upgrade to outfit the needs of today’s Clipper.

Xaverian’s Main Office and Suites have been renovated for optimal performance in today’s world.

SOLAR ENERGY

Xaverian is proud to be energy efficient. The recent installation of solar panels ensures that Clippers contribute to a sustainable future while reducing operational costs.

ENDOWMENT & OUR FUTURE

Our school’s accessibility is as important as its excellence so that we continue to be a school of academic opportunities regardless of economic realities.

This requires a robust endowment to support financial aid for the hundreds of students who would otherwise be unable to afford this education.

Currently, the endowment stands at $25 Million. We hope, over the course of this campaign, to bolster the endowment to the $30 Million dollar level.

ENDOWMENT GROWTH

DR. PHILIP J. WHITCOME ’66

An alumnus of the Class of 1966, and former Chairman of the Xaverian Board of Trustees, the late Dr. Philip J. Whitcome was legendary in his support of Xaverian. Bequeathing the largest single gift in Xaverian’s history, Dr. Whitcome’s legacy and impact on 7100 Shore Road could never be forgotten. Dr. Whitcome believed that our goal should be to make a Xaverian education possible to a student regardless of their financial situation. As such, it was his dream that our endowment would be large enough that it would act as a stabilizing force for our tuition. A benefactor, school trustee and a true Christian Gentleman who attributed his incredible professional success to the education he received at Xaverian, Phil knew the important role that philanthropy would have for the future of Xaverian.

OUR ANCHORS

“IN

HARMONY SMALL THINGS GROW”

Through the generosity of our benefactors, we are able to publicly announce our campaign on solid ground, and with a momentous spark that is sure to grow.

WILLIAM ZUCKER ’75

"Xaverian provided me with an outstanding education in faith, academics and social interactions that formed the foundation of the young adult that graduated in 1975. Xaverian has always felt like home and a safe harbor to me. I believe it is important to give back to the institution that prepared me so well for adult life and I have done so over the decades through my and my wife’s philanthropy. About 13 years ago I was offered to the opportunity to help Xaverian even more by joining the Board of Trustees, an honor that I quickly accepted and continue to serve to this day as part of our joint mission between the Board and the Administration to provide the best educational opportunities for future generations of Clippers in the spirit of the Xaverian Brothers charism."

JOAN MUELLER & PHIL LIAN ’66

“We continue to support Xaverian because it provides students with the highest level of preparedness, enabling their students to achieve their hopes and dreams.”
