FROM THE MANAGER

HAPPY OCTOBER! Last month, we celebrated Grandparents Day with a special Sunday Brunch featuring a Bloom Bar and crafts for the kids to create heartfelt keepsakes for their grandparents. We hope all of the families who joined us made wonderful memories together! We also hosted our very first Fall Floral Design Workshop and our 2nd Annual Sip & Shop Holiday Market. Both events were wonderfully attended, filled with creativity, connection and plenty of fun. It was exciting to see so many of our

members come together and enjoy all that Wynlakes has to offer. FACES OF MONTGOMERY: FACE OF COUNTRY CLUBS We are thrilled to share that Wynlakes has once again been selected as Faces of Montgomery’s Face of Country Clubs by Explore Media — marking the third consecutive year we have received this recognition! This honor is a wonderful reflection of the people who make Wynlakes what it is. From our dedicated WynTeam to our beautiful facilities and the experiences we create for our members, there is so much to be proud of. The magazine should have already arrived in your mailbox, so be sure to take a look at our feature! We hope

you’ll share it with your friends, family and business associates and celebrate this accomplishment with us. A special thank-you goes to the many team members who make the magic happen at Wynlakes every day. This recognition belongs to all of you! EMBARKING ON A JOURNEY TOGETHER: “UNREASONABLE HOSPITALITY” Over the past several months, our Wynlakes Directors have been reading Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. Together, we’ve worked through the book chapter by chapter, discussing the ideas that stood out to us and exploring how we can apply them to the member experience here at Wynlakes. At its heart, the book is about transforming ordinary moments into extraordinary ones by genuinely caring for the customer and consistently exceeding expectations. In January, we will take this conversation a step further by engaging our entire

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH JULY - RAYMOND ROBINSON We’re excited to celebrate Raymond Robinson as our July Employee of the Month! A member of the Wynlakes team for the past two years, Raymond is known for his work ethic and dedication. You’ll often find him working in the Fitness Center or on the tennis courts, two of his favorite spots at the club. One of Raymond’s favorite things about Wynlakes is the atmosphere and the people who make the club such a great place to work. When he’s not working, Raymond enjoys fishing and spending time with his two boys, who are his biggest motivation. Thank you, Raymond, for all you do for Wynlakes!

WynTeam. Together, we will identify meaningful “touchpoints” — opportunities throughout the member journey where we can elevate the experience, create moments of connection and make our members and guests feel truly valued. We will look closely at the entire customer journey, recognizing the positive experiences, identifying areas for improvement and paying attention to the moments that can sometimes be overlooked. Our goal is to create a shared customer journey map that aligns our entire team around one simple idea: making the Wynlakes experience exceptional from beginning to end. At the end of this experience, we hope to: Create raving fans Build a thriving team culture Create a meaningful competitive advantage in our industry SERVICE is the thing we DO. HOSPITALITY is how we make people FEEL. At Wynlakes, we plan to WYN-WYNWYN! WYN for attracting new members, WYN for our member/guests-gives you a story to tell, WYN for the team-feels good to make other people feel good. YOU will be the recipients so you will have to let me know how it turns out.

FITNESS NEWS

TRAINERS

STAY CONSISTENT THIS FALL As schedules get busier and the holiday season approaches, it can become easy to let your normal fitness routine slide. Remember that every workout doesn’t have to be long or perfect to count. A 30-minute workout is still valuable, and getting to the Fitness Center two or three times during a busy week is much better than waiting for the perfect time to start again. Focus on maintaining the habit. Keep moving, keep showing up, and do what your schedule allows. Consistency over time will always matter more than having one perfect week. If you need help adjusting your routine, trying something new, or figuring out what area of your fitness needs more attention, stop by the Fitness Center and talk with a member of our Fitness Staff. We’re always happy to help.

OCTOBER FITNESS LUNCHEON: HOW FIT ARE YOU REALLY? Join us on Tuesday, October 6 at Noon in the Boardroom for our next Fitness Luncheon.

HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARTY Halloween Costume Workout Party Join us for a fun, festive workout to celebrate Halloween!

When: Thursday, October 29th Where: Fitness Center Details: Come dressed in your favorite costume and get ready to sweat, laugh, and enjoy a good time with your fellow members. There may even be a little candy waiting for you at the end!

We’ll take a closer look at what it really means to be “fit” and break down the major components of fitness, including strength, cardiovascular endurance, mobility, balance, body composition, and overall work capacity. You’ll leave with a better understanding of where you currently stand, what areas may need improvement, and what you should focus on to become a healthier, more well-rounded version of yourself. Sign up in the Fitness Center!

FITNESS TIP OF THE MONTH Don’t Ignore Your Weakest Area Most people naturally spend more time doing the types of exercise they already enjoy or are already good at. Runners tend to run, lifters tend to lift, and people who enjoy classes tend to stick with classes. But improving your overall fitness often means spending a little more time on the areas that don’t come as naturally. Strength, cardiovascular endurance, mobility, balance, and work capacity all contribute to how well you move, feel, and perform. A well-rounded fitness routine should address more than just one of them. This month, take a look at your current routine and ask yourself: What area of my fitness am I neglecting?

BACK PAIN BODYWORK & MASSAGE THERAPY Next to the common cold, back pain is the most frequent complaint heard by doctors. Massage kneads away tension in the muscles, as well as relieving discomfort in surrounding areas that are “guarding” in response to the pain. It increases circulation, allowing healing nutrients and oxygen into the tissue. Don’t forget we have GIFT CARDS for birthdays and special occasions. Call Foad, today.

TIP OF THE MONTH Think back over your most recent round of golf – 9 or 18 holes – and count the number of times you were long of a green with your approach? A combination of data from several golf apps reveals that 65% of approach shots for amateur golfers end up short of the green or the intended yardage. Consider that the next time you are in between clubs, into the wind, or just playing a normal shot.

S U P E R V I E W S by Brad Barron Happy fall, everyone! I know my crew and I have been enjoying the lower humidity and some very nice, cooler mornings. We can already see the growth of the turf starting to slow down due to the shorter days and cooler nights. We have been very dry lately due to the small amount of rain we’ve received, but that is not uncommon for this time of year. In this month’s article, I’ll be discussing a few things we have been working on around the course, as well as some things we need to take care of as we head into winter. First, on the course, we recently worked on a drainage issue that was affecting the bunkers around the #9 green. We were able to unclog and replace some of the pipe, which allowed the water that had been backed up to drain properly. We have also been double-cutting the greens every day throughout the month of September. This practice has helped set our greens up nicely for the winter. The greens have a full, dense canopy of turf and are looking very smooth and healthy. Before long, we’ll start seeing the leaves fall, so our blowers and vacuums will be out and about soon. We will also be starting the process of removing several dead trees from around the course. As we move into the next few weeks and months, there are a few things we need to focus on, including applying our pre-emergent and preparing our equipment for winter storage. If you have not put out your fall pre-emergent yet, now is the time. This will help prevent those unsightly winter weeds from popping up while the desired turf on our course and in our yards is dormant. Fall pre-emergent is also an important tool for controlling one of the worst weeds for your home lawn: lawn burweed, known by most of us as “stickers.” I know we typically don’t notice these weeds until spring, but lawn burweed is actually a winter weed. The stickers we see in the spring are the dried-up seed heads at the end of the plant’s life cycle. So, if you want to eliminate those pesky lawn burweed stickers in the spring, the best time to treat for them is during the winter. We will soon be finishing up our grass cutting and bush trimming for the season and turning our attention toward winter preparations. When you put your lawn equipment away for the winter, remember to either run the fuel out before storage or add a fuel stabilizer to the tank. Also, anything with a battery should have the battery disconnected before being stored. I hope you enjoyed this month’s article. I look forward to seeing y’all at the club and out on the course. The course is in great shape and healthy as we head into winter, and we are ready for the cooler weather. See you on the course!
