The Club will be decked out with the most festive decorations in town— you simply won’t find the beauty and hospitality of Wynlakes anywhere else in Montgomery.
I’ve been talking about WYNBOO for two months, but I can’t move on without celebrating what an incredible event it was! Kudos to our staff for pulling it off flawlessly—yet again.
On October 22nd, approximately 600 guests joined in the fun. The decorations were amazing, the “boofet” was delicious, and our kids’ activities were truly spectacular (see pictures in this issue of Wyndows). Fun was had by all, including the adults—one member even said, “This is Member/ Guest for kids,” which we take as a huge compliment.
If you missed it, you won’t want to miss next year. WYNBOO is truly something special!
Your November bill will include a charge for the Holiday Bonus Fund, which is shared among all 150+ Wynlakes staff members. It may surprise you how many employees we have! While many work “back-of-house” and aren’t often seen by members, they contribute just as much as our “front-ofhouse” team to ensure your experience is exceptional. You may choose to pay the amount listed on your bill or adjust it up or down. Your generosity helps our employees purchase Christmas gifts for their families. These checks will be distributed at our Employee Christmas Party on Monday, November 24th. Thank you for supporting the dedicated team that makes Wynlakes so special!
The bridge on hole #4 AND #5 TEE will be replaced soon. This is the large bridge visible from Vaughn Road. We do not have a definite start date; however, we are hoping the demolition of the current bridge will begin mid-December and the new bridge construction will commence the first or second week in January. It is anticipated that new construction will take 6 to 8 weeks. We are hoping for a completion date somewhere between March 1st and March 15th. Golf course access during this time will be limited to the back 9. As we receive more information from our contractors, we will continue to keep you informed.

This month I would like to discuss the importance of fixing ball marks and divots on the course. We all know that correctly fixing these helps improve recovery of the turf and also benefits the play behind you by smoothing the disrupted areas. This is especially important this time of year with the weather cooling off and the grass is not actively growing which means the recovery time is longer.
To properly fill a divot with sand, fill it until it is level with the surrounding grass, but not overfilled, then use your foot to smooth and compact the sand. Avoid creating a mound, as this can damage mowing equipment and lead to
uneven playing conditions. Underfilling it can also cause poor lies and slow recovery.
The proper technique for ball mark repair is easy and fast. Insert the ball mark repair tool behind the ball mark and gently push the top of the tool toward the center. Continue working around the ball mark, pushing the surrounding turf toward the center of the indentation. Avoid using a lifting or twisting motion because this can damage turf roots. Once you have finished pushing the turf toward the center, gently tamp the area down with your putter to create a smooth, firm surface.
