FROM THE MANAGER
HAPPY SEPTEMBER! We closed out August with our Annual Founder’s Cup Golf Tournament, one of my absolute favorite golf tournaments of the year. This special event is named in honor of our Founder, Jim Wilson, Jr., and is exclusively for Wynlakes members. It truly doesn’t get more special than that! To everyone who participated, thank you for making it such a memorable weekend. For those who weren’t able to join us this year, we look forward to seeing you at the 2027 Founder’s Cup!

HEALTH CLASS FOR STAFF We recently concluded our fourweek Foundations in Health class for our staff, presented by Ryan Callicott, Director of Fitness. The program focused on nutrition, exercise, strength, conditioning, sleep, and making healthy lifestyle choices. The feedback from our staff was incredibly positive. Participants shared that they gained a better understanding of the importance of sleep, learned how much protein their bodies need, became more aware of nutrition and calorie intake, and discovered that building strength and establishing a workout routine doesn’t have to be difficult. Many also expressed that the class gave them a new perspective on taking care of their bodies and making healthier choices. One participant summed it up perfectly: “LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THESE CLASSES!” Each participant received a takehome wellness notebook filled with
meal-planning examples, nutrition guidance, and at-home workout programs, along with a home workout kit. We are committed to continuing to provide valuable resources and opportunities that support the overall well-being of our staff. Thank you, Ryan, for sharing your knowledge, encouraging our team, and taking the time to invest in the health and wellness of our staff! PLANNING FOR 2027 Our Directors recently gathered for a 2027 activities planning session, and we have some exciting new events and activities in the works! Some of the new offerings we’re planning for the upcoming year include Trivia, Masters of Mahjong, Australian Tennis Open, Ladies Golf 101, Parents’ Nights Out/Date Nights, French Wine Tasting, Tea Party & Croquet in the Courtyard, Par 3 Contest, Kids Drive, Chip & Putt, Cocktail Classes, and much, much more!

SEPTEMBER 2026
Congratulations to Chandra Smith, our June Employee of the Month! Chandra has been a valued member of the Wynlakes team for an incredible 15 years. As part of our Banquet team, she especially enjoys bringing different functions to life, from baby showers and teas to all the special celebrations hosted at Wynlakes. Meeting new faces and setting up rooms for events are some of her favorite parts of the job—once everything is ready, she says she gets “in the zone!” Chandra starts each day with an early morning and a fresh start, which motivates her to do her best every day. Outside of work, she loves line dancing and spending time with her 31-year-old daughter. What sets Wynlakes apart, according to Chandra, is the family atmosphere. Over the years, she has grown close to many of our members and loves seeing familiar faces around the Club. Fun fact: Chandra was born in Memphis! Congratulations, Chandra, and thank you for 15 wonderful years of dedication!
We are also in the process of restructuring our Sitter Service. It will be renamed, revamped, and filled with new and engaging activities for the children to enjoy each time they visit. WYNFIT JR. CAMP RECAP We had an awesome time at this year’s WYNFIT Jr. Camp with 30 kids joining us for a fun and active camp! Throughout the week, participants learned proper upper-body, lower-body, and core exercises, spent time strength training, competed in fitness-related relays and games, and learned the basics of nutrition and healthy habits. Our goal was to introduce the kids to fitness in a fun, positive environment while teaching them skills they can continue to use as they grow. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s camp such a great experience. We had a great time and are already looking forward to the next one!

FITNESS LUNCHEON Tuesday, October 6 • 12 pm Join us for the first of our Quarterly Fitness Luncheons! How Fit Are You Really? We’ll take a closer look at what it really means to be “fit” and break down the major components of fitness, including strength, cardiovascular endurance, mobility, balance, body composition, and overall work capacity. You’ll leave with a better understanding of where you currently stand, what areas may need improvement, and what you should focus on to become a healthier, more well-rounded version of yourself. Sign up in the Fitness Center!
When most people think about fitness, they tend to focus on body weight or appearance. But true fitness is much broader. Strength, cardiovascular endurance, mobility, balance, and work capacity all play a role in how well you move, feel, and perform in everyday life. A great goal is to occasionally test different areas of your fitness instead of relying on just one number. You may be surprised to find that your biggest opportunity for improvement isn’t where you thought it was.

BACK PAIN BODYWORK & MASSAGE THERAPY Next to the common cold, back pain is the most frequent complaint heard by doctors. Massage kneads away tension in the muscles, as well as relieving discomfort in surrounding areas that are “guarding” in response to the pain. It increases circulation, allowing healing nutrients and oxygen into the tissue. Don’t forget we have GIFT CARDS for birthdays and special occasions. Call Foad, today.

S U P E R V I E W S by Brad Barron This week’s superviews will cover how we prepare on the course for wintertime. I know you must be thinking its way too hot to be thinking about wintertime but the months leading into late fall will set you up for winter and dormancy. So, we will continue our topdressing program through September. This will set up a smooth, firm surface going into winter on the greens. Another practice we will do is we will double cut the greens for the entire month of September. So, in doing this practice we will create a lateral growth pattern of the plant. By mowing twice as much the grass on the greens will start to grow sideways instead of upright. This will help fill in imperfections on the green and create a tight canopy. This will create a great surface to play on all winter. We will also be applying fall fertilizers in the coming months. These fertilizers are aimed more for root growth than leaf growth. The fertilizers will be high in potassium with a small amount of nitrogen. The potassium will feed the roots and get them ready to go into the winter and dormancy. By doing this, the roots will store much needed nutrients for the winter and also for green up in the spring. Think of it like a bear eating a lot to get ready for hibernation. These are some of the techniques and tools we will use in the coming months getting ready for winter. Like I said earlier, I know it’s still hot and no one is thinking of wintertime, but it will be here soon. The leaves will begin to change color and start falling and cooler nights are coming. We just need to prepare for it beforehand. Hope to see you on the course!
Founder’s Cup2 0 2 6 Champions – Team Narcos - (LR) Wesley Rogers, Graham Sutter, Cole Willis, Justin Bixenman, Chip Schuneman, Todd Vickers, Porter Reaves, and Breck Honea. The ShootOut was extremely competitive with Team Narcos and The No Names tying at -4 with The Brambler’s finishing just one shot back at -3. Team Narcos and The No Names played #18 in a sudden death playoff and Team Narcos was victorious. This is the second Founder’s Cup victory for Team Narcos in the last 3 years. Are we looking at a Narcos dynasty in the making?
