Dear Members, I hope that everyone had a great holiday season and I wish you a happy and healthy new year. I would like to thank the Members who contributed to the Employee Holiday Fund this year. The holiday fund is a great way to show our appreciation to our hard-working staff and I know that they are grateful for our support. Many of you have taken time to introduce yourselves to Ron Parris, our new CEO. Ron certainly appreciates meeting with everyone as he takes the time to “come up to speed” on all that goes on at Wyndemere. Ron has shared staff updates over the past few months that I am happy to reflect on. Nicolette Boros joined us in November as the new Communications Manager, and I hope that you all have the chance to meet her this season. I would also like to extend a congratulations to Estefania Perino on her promotion to Director of Strategic Initiatives and Irena Lako to Director of Food & Beverage. Finally, you will soon have the opportunity to meet Allison Petscher, our new Assistant General Manager. She will spend most of her time focused on our food and beverage operation and enhancing your dining experience at the Club. We are now in full season swing and there are so many activities, tournaments, classes, lectures, etc, available to the Membership. We had the opportunity to watch some great tennis talent at the Naples Pro League event held at Wyndemere. It was a great time, and well attended. Thanks to Jicham, Garrett and the racquets team for organizing this event. I hope that you take advantage of all that Wyndemere has to offer. This newsletter will serve as a helpful resource in finding upcoming events and offerings.
We will also be resuming our monthly Coffee with the President and CEO beginning January 9th at 8:30am. This is an opportunity to meet in an informal setting and chat about our Club, the operations, the future, and anything else that you have on your mind. Last year’s sessions were well received, and we are happy to begin them again in 2024. Members can register online for the January session and see available future dates on our Club Calendar. Thank you to all the dedicated Members who volunteer to be on Club Committees. As I said before, these Members and Committees are essential in maintaining the exceptional functionality of our Club. It is key to our successful governance model. If you are interested, please go to the Club website, under “Governance” and click on “Wyndemere Leadership Profile”. Complete the profile and someone from our Leadership Committee will contact you to talk about your interests, skills, and background. If you are interested for next year, one of your first steps will be to attend the Wyndemere Academy. The Academy consists of three sessions in which you learn about our history, finances, membership goals, strategic planning and many other interesting facts that will assist you once you start serving on committees. The 2023 Wyndemere Academy Class is full this year, thanks to the great leadership of Connee Dawson and Jeanie Hielscher. Thank you for your continued support and enjoy the season.
Gary Lapidas Club President
Dear Members, Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. December was a busy month at the Club with many of you hosting guests. The highlights were the Member Holiday Party and New Year’s Eve Party. Thanks to everyone that attended and to the entire Food & Beverage Team for the great service and delicious food. In today’s article, I would like to inform you about some menu and communication initiatives. Menu Rotation- We understand the importance of providing variety, so Chef Neil and his team will be changing the menus for both lunch and dinner every six weeks during the season. Not only will a large majority of the items change, but you will also notice a change in the design of the menus. In the past two weeks, we have rolled out new menus for both the Clubhouse and Tiebreaker. We are hopeful you will enjoy these changes and we always appreciate your feedback. Communications- With the help of our Communications Manager Nicolette, we are working to streamline our email communications. In the near future, you will receive a dedicated weekly or bi-weekly email blast from each department that will inform you of all things happening including sign up reminders and links. For example, you will receive a Golf Department update on Saturday’s and that will be your go-to source for up-to-date information. As always, you can access our app or website for schedules and activities. We will also be using some video communications which has proven to be more effective. You will be able to opt out of the departmental emails that you do not want to receive. Our goal is to decrease the enormous number of emails you receive from the Club while improving communication. It is 2024 and prime season is upon us. Our staff is ready and looking forward to providing the best service we can for you and your guests. I look forward to seeing you around the Club soon.
Ron Parris Chief Executive Officer

Dear Members, Happy New Year! As we step into a brand-new chapter, I want to extend my warmest wishes to each and every one of you. May this year bring you joy, fulfillment, and countless opportunities for growth. The start of a new year is like a blank canvas, offering us the chance to paint a beautiful picture filled with positivity, success, and meaningful connections. Let's embrace this opportunity and approach the coming months with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm. Reflecting on the challenges and triumphs of the past year, we have proven our resilience and strength as a team. Together, we have overcome obstacles, learned valuable lessons, and achieved remarkable milestones. As we embark on this journey into 2024, let's build upon these experiences and strive for even greater accomplishments. Here are a few key reminders and aspirations to guide us in the coming months: 1. Unity and Collaboration: Our collective strength lies in our unity. Let's continue to collaborate, support one another, and foster a culture of inclusivity and teamwork. 2. Innovation and Adaptability: The world is ever-evolving, and our ability to innovate and adapt will be crucial. Let's embrace change with an open mind, turning challenges into opportunities for growth and improvement. 3. Positivity and Resilience: Challenges are inevitable, but our response to them defines our success. Let's cultivate a positive mindset and approach difficulties with resilience, knowing that every obstacle is a steppingstone toward success. 4. Continuous Learning: The pursuit of knowledge is a journey that never ends. A commit to continuous learning, both individually and as a team, staying curious and open to new ideas. 5. Celebrating Success: Each achievement, no matter how small, contributes to our collective success. Let's take the time to acknowledge and celebrate our victories, fostering a culture of appreciation and recognition. As we embark on this new year together, I am filled with optimism and excitement for what lies ahead. I am confident that we will reach new heights and make 2024 a year to remember.
Leslie Evans Executive Director
Here's to a year of growth, unity, and prosperity. Wishing you all a Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Wyndemere Members, welcome to 2024! Wyndemere is now in its 45th year. It’s hard to believe how far we have come since the early 1980’s and we just keep getting better and better! The beginning of the year is typically the kick-off to the selling season. Today, we have more inventory then we’ve seen all summer which is good for a prospective buyer who will now have more choices. Since the beginning of the fiscal year, five homes have sold and there are currently four pending. Members who wish to reclassify from a Golf to a Sports category may do so by contacting me. As long as we have a waiting list for Resident Golf, these reclassifications can occur by request with final approval by the Board. Below is the same information I shared from last month’s article, but warrants repeating: The Administration Office is a hub of activity this time of year, and many visitors will be arriving over the next several months. We would appreciate your assistance when registering house guests, renters and immediate family transfers. It’s extremely helpful to submit your forms well in advance of their arrival. The best way to register your guests is to use the forms available on our website and Wyndemere app. If you have several guests, you can put them all on one form, which will save you time. Below are the links to register your guests on the Wyndemere website. When received, the administration staff will process your guests registration requests and issue guest cards in advance of your guests arrival and have them ready on the counter of the reception desk.

I hope everyone had a great holiday season and Happy New Year. I thought you would enjoy learning more about our Culinary operation and I wanted to introduce you to our Team. First and foremost, our number one goal is membership satisfaction. To achieve that, we must provide a good variety of menu options that are consistent and delicious. We also want to provide options that are heart healthy. This all starts with the purchasing and procurement of ingredients where our primary goal is to buy the best. We are constantly evaluating the quality of our ingredients and sourcing them as local as possible. This year we have added a new meat purveyor Allen Brothers who sources much of their beef from the Midwest. Halpern’s provides our chicken and pork products. The chicken we purchase have been organically fed a hormone free diet with no steroids or antibiotics. Over 90% of our vegetables and produce are organic, pesticide free, and grown locally by Farmer Mikes Produce in Bonita Springs and Oakes Farm in Immokalee. Our Specialty “out of season” produce comes from Mr. Greens where they source globally. Our main seafood purveyor is Merrick Seafood, a family owned and operated company from Cape Coral, who own and operate seven boats with three of them going out daily. They fish exclusively in the Gulf of Mexico and provide us many of the local favorites. Our other seafood comes from Bluestar seafood out of Miami who source from the global markets in Miami, Boston, Europe, and Hawaii. All our fish is fresh and never frozen. All our desserts and pastries are made in house except for large events where we use Mikkelsen’s Bakery. Altogether, we work with over 22 separate food purveyors and purchase over a million dollars of product each year. It’s not a small task but we have a talented dedicated team that puts it all together daily. I would like to introduce some of the team leaders in the kitchen with a combined 120 years of experience. (pictured from left to right)
Chef Delmer- is our newest Chef, and he manages all ala carte service and menus in the Tiebreaker. Be sure to try to his chicken miso soup and lobster dumpling on the new lunch menu. He is adding new and exciting flavors on a regular basis. Chef Rennoy- is our seafood specialist. He prepares the fish entrees for dinner service and oversees fish butchery and accompanying sauces. Rennoy has the touch to make beautiful plate presentations. Chef Neil- I’ve been at Wyndemere for five years and have enjoyed every minute of it. My management and culinary philosophy are all about keeping our team motivated and happy which leads to great tasting food and a strong culture. I challenge our team to constantly look at what we can do better each day. Together we listen and evaluate the members daily feedback and we are always looking for ways to improve.
Chef Dave- has been at Wyndemere for just over 10 seasons and is primarily in charge of purchasing all food for the club. His day starts at 4am when he is preparing all the pastries for the Grab in Go. Chef Mike-has been here for 3 seasons and was recently promoted to oversee lunch service in the Tiebreaker. He writes the daily lunch specials and is very creative. Chef Michael- manages all the banquet functions and club events. He is also heavily involved with a la carte service, butchery, and prepares many of the club’s desserts. Michael just started his 6th season with Wyndemere.
Neil DeVries, CEC Executive Chef
Thank you for your support of our Culinary team. We are looking forward to a fantastic season.
Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays with family and friends! Thank you for participating in the Employee Holiday Fund. Your generosity is greatly appreciated by all staff members and their families. As we look forward to 2024, there is a lot to be excited about being a member of Wyndemere Country Club. The passing of the Outdoor Activity Center, along with the Golf Course Practice Area improvements will further enhance your experience as a member once they are completed. As part of the Golf Course Master Plan process, we have been experimenting with several new turfgrass varieties. We have planted several Bermudagrass cultivars, and numerous Zoysiagrass cultivars. Some of them are already on the market, and others are experimental cultivars from the University of Florida. The world of Turfgrass Management is an evolving science. There are constant research and development initiatives to help identify/create improved products, machines, and turfgrasses. They may better help cure a disease, reduce labor, or use less fertilizer/water. Trialing different varieties of Turfgrass on your golf course is the best way to determine if they are superior to what already exists. Each golf course has their own challenges, and one variety may excel five miles up the road but not do as well on your specific property. It could be soil related, shade related, water source related, and even golf rounds related. There are no silver bullets in the Turfgrass world, but there have been significant advancements over the last several years.
Zoysia Test Area Back DR Tee Corner
Zoysiagrass is a turfgrass variety that has become my favorite warmseason turfgrass. We have been experimenting here at Wyndemere with different cultivars since 2017 when we installed Trinity Zoysia on Green Course #5 I Tee. We have continued installing other varieties on different areas of the property to gain further knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses. Zoysia Test Area Left of Tees on #3 White Course
This past summer, we installed 15,000 ft2 of three different Zoysiagrasses in two different locations. The first being the Back Driving Range Tee and the second location is left of the tees on #3 White. The plots on the Back Driving Tee have been open for few months now, and I encourage you to hit some shots to test out the playability characteristics of each. We will continue to monitor all our trials over the upcoming months to gain better knowledge of their abilities. I wish everyone a great 2024! See you out on the course!
Aaron Ohloff, GCSAA Class A Golf Course Superintendent

It surely seems that the year flew by! Our December was packed with fun golf events! Thank you to to the 9-hole ladies for planning the Holiday Par 3 Tournament and luncheon. The Nonie Frickel/Presidents event was outstanding (not my golf though) and despite the awful weather, there were some very low scores! This year we included a 2-day low gross price for just the first flight, adding to the challenge. Congratulations to all the winners. And, as always, Dee P. , Sandy and the kitchen staff out did themselves presenting a delicious lunch! January is a full and fun month with three different events! First up is our Ringer Tournament - how many golf games do you get to replace a bad score with a better one? Then, we have the new season long Match Play event -a first for this year! We are hoping for 32 teams that will be flighted by handicap. Finally, the January one day Member Guest an afternoon shotgun followed by a cocktail reception and prizes. Sign ups for all three are underway on the website. February begins with the Member/Member and its famous cocktail party on Feb 5. Bring your dollars to bet on your favorite teams, including your own! If you do not have a partner the Golf Pro staff with make sure you do. Then, we’re on to Bosom Buddies on Feb 18th. Judy Lanfrit has already started creating those impressive baskets. Be sure to find the person in your golf group(s) that is collecting money to help her fill them. Each year, we do an incredible job with this event and help so many. I thank you all for that.

Racquet sports are in full swing here at Wyndemere! We hope everyone enjoyed their time with loved ones over the holidays. It's getting to that time of year when we find ourselves playing tennis or pickleball every other day. If it's not in one of our drop-ins, weekly in-house leagues, or competing against other clubs, you’re still finding ways to get back on the court. Especially given how great the month of December was with cooler weather, we don’t blame you! So, it's very important to consider your greatest asset, your HEALTH! Self-care should be a major part of your active lifestyle here at the club. We will cover a few of the important elements that everyone should keep in mind throughout the season. Hydration The key to life for an athlete in Southwest Florida is hydration! Proper hydration not only fuels your performance, but acts as a defense against muscle strain and fatigue. This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s very important to remember that just drinking water alone may not be enough! Be sure to find ways to replenish your electrolytes! Stretching/Warm-up Learn how incorporating daily stretching can enhance your performance, prevent injuries, and elevate your overall tennis and pickleball experience. Take a proactive step toward injury prevention and improved play by embracing the art of a proper warm-up. Your game, and your body, will thank you. Pain/injury recognition Have you ever heard the phrase, “It’s very important to listen to your body?” Being honest with yourself and your racquet sports staff to help recognize when lingering pain or injuries begin to develop could be the most important element of all. Majority of minor injuries related to racquet sports require some rest, but it's important to speak with a Professional in the shop to gain more knowledge on the issue. Sometimes an adjustment to equipment may be the solution. Just come to the Pro Shop and we’ll try to help!
