Examination Results and University Destinations 2026
Wycombe Abbey has a long tradition of academic success. The learning environment is supportive yet challenging, and our teaching specialists communicate a genuine love of their subject, encouraging all our pupils to cultivate intellectual curiosity beyond the curriculum. University Destinations 2026 This year’s UK university applications cycle delivered outstanding outcomes, with pupils securing places at an exceptional range of leading institutions. One in four Upper Sixth pupils received an Oxbridge offer, with 15 pupils choosing to attend the University of Oxford and six the University of Cambridge. Other popular destinations included University College London (eight pupils), Durham University (five pupils), and the London School of Economics and Political Science, the University of Edinburgh, the University of St Andrews and the University of Warwick (three pupils each). Pupils will pursue an impressive breadth of academic disciplines, with particularly strong representation in Medicine, Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), Engineering, Classics and Economics. Several pupils also secured places on highly competitive specialist programmes, including Biomedical Technology Ventures at Imperial College London, History of Art at The Courtauld Institute of Art and Performance Arts at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. It was also a record-breaking year for US university applications, with pupils receiving offers from all eight Ivy League institutions. They ultimately chose to enrol at some of the world’s most prestigious universities, including Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford and Yale, as well as Emory University and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The higher education ambitions of our pupils extended well beyond the UK and US. They secured places on a range of outstanding international programmes, including fully funded places to study Medicine at the University of Hong Kong and Economics at the University of Tokyo. Other exciting destinations include Marine Biology at the University of Sydney, Politics and International Relations at the University of Amsterdam, and Business Administration at IE University in Madrid, showcasing the diverse interests and global perspectives of this year’s cohort.

The programme includes talks from expert internal and external speakers, a dedicated Future Ready week focused on university and career pathways, an interdisciplinary Academic Forum in partnership with local schools, and extensive preparation for admissions tests and interviews. Alongside this, the Careers Department arranges valuable work experience placements and welcomes inspiring professionals through events such as the annual Careers Seminar and regular Career Spotlight sessions. Pupils benefit from highly personalised guidance throughout the university application process, working closely with their Sixth Form Tutors and receiving specialist support from the Assistant Head (Sixth Form), Head of Higher Education, and Head of US and International Universities.
