Romantic Escapes & Magic Sunsets

Your Hidden Gem In The Whitsundays

This is best accomodation in FNQ and probably QLD. Most critical to that assessment is the willingness of Bob and Mel to cater to your needs. We have seriously tested their patience with a range of work related changes, adjustments and cancellations due to a local documentary shoot. It has been two years of constant postponements etc, but they have been willing and flexible to deal with these on a monthly basis without complaint (or at least, we don't hear them complaining!!) Very professional, personable and go way beyond what is expected and asked. Rooms are perfect for anyone, the ease in which check-in is performed, parking and accessibility as well as proximity to everything makes it an easy choice. Thoroughly recommend as your first and only stop on tour/holiday/business.

Hotel highlights Quiet, Child-friendly, Great value

One of the best cabins \ park we have had the pleasure of staying at.

The best RV park on our Australian trip. We had a lovely, comfortable cabin with a nice little terrace. Everything is so tidy and clean. We loved the tropical plants, the huge pool. A good pub and bottle shop just a few steps away.

Nice BBQ area (have one dollar coins with you).

Good laundry facilities.

A Dream Proposal, Wedding and Honeymoon at Palm Bay Resort

Arriving by boat, salt air on your skin, the Whitsunday Passage stretches endlessly ahead while the Coral Sea glitters in the sun. Long Island rises quietly in the distancelush, secluded and blissfully untouched. From the moment you step ashore at Palm Bay Resort, time softens. The outside world fades away, making space for something truly special.

It’s the perfect setting for a proposal. Perhaps it unfolds during a barefoot stroll along the resort’s private cove, waves brushing the sand as the sun dips low. Or maybe it’s a goldenhour moment on the elevated Sunset Deck, champagne chilled and waiting as the sky turns pink and amber. When the question is asked, it feels intimate and unhurried; just the two of you, surrounded by nature at its most breathtaking.

From that first “yes,” Palm Bay seamlessly transforms into an unforgettable wedding destination. Tucked into the northern end of Long Island within the Great Barrier Reef, the boutique resort offers rare exclusivity. With just 25 Balinese-inspired villas, suites and houses, Palm Bay can host weddings of up to 60 guests, with the option of sole-use, creating a private island celebration shared only with your closest family and friends.

As guests arrive, they settle into spacious tropical accommodation overlooking the Whitsunday Passage or nestled among lush gardens. Mornings begin with birdsong and ocean views, days unfold slowly, and anticipation builds as the wedding day approaches.

Ceremony options are as romantic as they are versatile. Couples can exchange vows barefoot on the beachfront, framed by turquoise waters, reef and rainforest, or choose the ever-popular Sunset Deck, elevated just above the sand and offering sweeping views at both high and low tide. Palm-lined aisles, gentle sea breezes and thoughtful styling create a ceremony that feels natural, elegant and timeless. Celebratory drinks served immediately after the vows allow the moment to linger as laughter drifts across the shore.

As the sun sets, the celebration continues with reception experiences tailored to your vision. Palm Bay’s dining philosophy centres on connection and abundance. A sit-down banquet offers a classic, beautifully plated multi-course experience ideal for speeches and formal toasts. Shared banquet-style dining encourages conversation and togetherness, while cocktail and platter-style receptions invite guests to mingle freely over roaming canapés and curated platters. Each option is paired with attentive service, carefully selected beverage packages and stunning coastal backdrops.

For couples seeking something deeply intimate, Palm Bay’s elopement packages deliver romance without compromise. Luxury accommodation in the Hibiscus Suite, beachfront or sundeck ceremonies, private dining, champagne on arrival and thoughtful inclusions, with premium options featuring spa treatments and in-suite brunches create a seamless, indulgent escape.

When the celebration winds down, the honeymoon begins without ever leaving the island. Days are spent snorkelling the nearby Long Island Reef, kayaking calm waters, hiking to Sandy Bay or Happy Bay, or indulging at the Palm Bay Day Spa. Evenings bring sunsets, shared meals at Curlews Restaurant and starlit walks along the beach.

Despite its secluded feel, Palm Bay is easily accessible via Hamilton Island or Proserpine airports, with smooth boat transfers completing the journey. With year-round warm temperatures and indoor backup spaces for outdoor events, couples can relax knowing every detail is covered.

At Palm Bay Resort, a proposal becomes a wedding, a wedding becomes a honeymoon, and every chapter flows effortlessly into the next, an entire love story written on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef.

With Tranquility Hideaway

For couples dreaming of a wedding that feels deeply personal, authentic, and connected to nature, Tranquility Hideaway offers an extraordinary sanctuary in Mission Beach, North Queensland. Specialising in micro weddings and elopements, this rainforest retreat provides a unique alternative to traditional venues, blending soulful experiences with natural beauty, sustainability, and timeless elegance. Vows are exchanged under ancient trees, celebrations unfold beneath the stars, and the focus is on connection between partners, loved ones, and the land itself.

Micro weddings, typically fewer than 30 guests, and elopements are a deliberate choice to embrace intimacy, intention, and presence. Couples often report feeling more relaxed and connected. Without the pressures of large-scale weddings, every element can be tailored to the couple’s vision, from locations and timelines to menus, styling, and ceremony rituals. At Tranquility Hideaway, the natural environment becomes the décor, soundtrack, and sanctuary, offering a living, breathing canvas for love.

Located between the Great Barrier Reef and Queensland’s Cassowary Coast rainforest, Tranquility Hideaway spans nearly 200 acres. The property is a purpose-built eco-retreat for conscious gatherings, and it offers a sustainable setting that encourages mindful celebration and deep connection. Guests are invited to slow down, breathe in the rainforest air, and immerse themselves in a world where time seems to pause. Forest paths, open parklands, creekside groves, and shaded decks create an expansive playground for ceremonies, receptions, and reflection.

Ceremony locations are as diverse as they are enchanting, with rainforest clearings framed by towering Licuala palms and filtered sunlight offering a cathedral-like atmosphere for barefoot weddings. Open parkland spaces provide grassy lawns with ocean breezes, ideal for golden hour ceremonies or relaxed gatherings. Creekside fire circles offer a rustic environment for evening elopements or quiet post-vow reflections. The pavilion deck provides a covered hardwood space surrounded by greenery, suitable for both ceremonies and small receptions.

Micro weddings offer the freedom to celebrate in personal, relaxed, and memorable ways. Couples can host starlit dinners under string lights, grazing picnics on the lawn with live acoustic music, or private catered meals on the pavilion deck overlooking the forest. The property team can connect couples with local florists, musicians, celebrants, and chefs who understand the rhythm of the region and values

of mindful celebration. Some couples prefer to elope in the morning, explore Mission Beach in the afternoon, and return to their villa for champagne and stargazing in total privacy.

The property can host over 30 guests across eco-luxe dwellings, with optional camping grounds. Each space is designed for rest and retreat, featuring forest views, private verandahs, organic linens, and natural textures that echo the landscape. Shared amenities include a mineral swimming pool, communal kitchen, fire pit, and shaded dining areas, allowing guests to gather while maintaining intimacy and flow.

Tranquility Hideaway offers flexible options so couples may book the entire property or reserve specific ceremony and reception spaces. Access includes natural ceremony locations, communal areas, and AV support for music or speeches. Optional planning assistance covers connections with celebrants, floral designers, photographers, videographers, private chefs, and transport coordinators. This personalised approach ensures every celebration is unique and organically flows with the couple’s vision.

The ideal wedding season depends on the atmosphere couples seek. The dry season, from May to October, offers cooler temperatures, soft lighting, and minimal rainfall, perfect for outdoor ceremonies. The green season, from November to April, provides misty rainforest mornings, lush foliage, and dramatic skies, creating a moody and intimate environment for couples who embrace the rainforest’s wild beauty.

Every corner of the property, from rainforest groves and creekside fire circles to open parklands and starlit dining areas, honours the uniqueness of each couple’s story. By embracing conscious celebration and sustainability, Tranquility creates weddings that are unforgettable and deeply aligned with the values of the couples who choose to celebrate there.

For couples seeking an intimate, soulful, and authentic wedding experience, Tranquility Hideaway provides the perfect stage. Each celebration is carefully held, allowing love and nature to take centre stage. Tranquility invites couples to celebrate love in a way that is entirely their own.

Reconnect, reflect, and celebrate with intention. Tranquility Hideaway is where love meets nature, and every wedding becomes a story that lingers long after the day has passed.

TP Events & Styling pride themselves on bringing imaginations to life and turning dreams into reality. Over a decade of TP Event’s magic has been quietly shaping some of the Whitsundays’ most unforgettable weddings and celebrations. What began as a simple love for introducing a unique marquee style to the region has grown into one of the Whitsundays’ most trusted and well-established event styling and hire businesses, delivering just over 160 weddings and events each year across some of the area’s most iconic locations.

At the heart of TP Events is a deeply held belief: every celebration should feel genuinely personal. No two couples are the same, and neither should their wedding be. Whether the vision is classic and timeless or bold and vibrant, the team focuses on honouring each couple’s individual style while creating a beautifully cohesive experience. Their signature lies in the balance; creativity paired with polished, seamless execution and it’s why couples, venues and industry professionals return time and time again.

That trust is reflected in TP Events’ longstanding relationships across the region.

The team is proud to be a preferred supplier to every wedding venue in the Whitsundays, including Freedom Shores and Coral Sea Marina Resort, and holds exclusive supplier status at Villa Botanica. These partnerships speak not only to the quality of their styling, but to the professionalism, reliability and calm confidence they bring to every event.

Behind every beautifully styled space is an extensive and ever-evolving collection of hire pieces, carefully curated to suit a wide range of themes and aesthetics. Looking ahead to 2026, wedding styling is moving into a richer, more immersive era. Old-world charm is making a return, layered with bold personal touches, tactile textures and expressive details. Think dramatic florals, statement installations and experiential moments, balanced with modern finishes like stainless steel and cool metallics. Vibrant colour pops of cobalt, and lime sit just as comfortably as sleek monochrome palettes… and the result? Celebrations that feel deeply personal, visually striking and truly unforgettable.

In 2025, TP Events entered an exciting new chapter, moving into a beautiful new warehouse and office space designed to elevate both the client experience and the team’s creative potential. The purpose-built facility allows for expanded styling offerings and a growing hire range as the business heads into 2026, including the long-anticipated ability to take on more events across the Whitsunday islands.

Behind the scenes, the magic is made possible by a highly experienced team and refined systems to ensure every event runs

smoothly, no matter the scale. A key member of that team is Ella, who’s now in her sixth exciting year with TP Events. Having recently completed an advanced floral course in Paris, Ella brings fresh inspiration and refined technique to the brand’s bespoke floral designs where her work blends seamlessly with TP Events’ signature style producing elevated, contemporary events that are full of heart.

As TP Events & Styling Whitsundays approaches its ten-year milestone in May of 2026, the focus remains where it has always been - thoughtful design, genuine connection and creating moments that feel as good as they look.

With an expanded space, a talented team and a clear vision for the future, TP Events continues to evolve alongside the wedding industry, crafting celebrations that are effortless, deeply personal and remembered long after the last dance.

Weddings have never been in safer hands with Kylie McIntosh, who brings 27 years of experience in the wedding industry to every ceremony she creates.

With a background in planning, event management and styling, Kylie has grown into an award-winning celebrant known for her calm presence and genuine warmth.

While public speaking was never something she imagined for herself, stepping into the role became one of the most defining decisions of her career, and one where her confidence now shines.

Fast forward to today and Kylie has reached the extraordinary milestone of 1,000 weddings and counting. She was crowned Queensland’s Best Celebrant at the 2024 Australian Bridal Industry Awards, followed by runner-up honours in 2025.

Beach elopements are her favourite, a style she calls her “love language”, where she delivers laid-back, warm professionalism with zero awkward vibes.

Kylie’s greatest strength is her ability to create ceremonies that feel effortless, genuine and deeply personal. Guests often assume she has known the couple for years. Her love of people is at the heart of everything she does, creating authentic connections that shine through on the day.

What Kylie wants couples to know is that the ceremony truly sets the tone.

“It doesn’t need to be long or formal to be meaningful, it just needs to feel like you,” she says.

“When that’s right, everything else flows, and vibes will be high!”

When she’s not marrying people, Kylie can be found spending time with family, plotting her next adventure, enjoying a cheeky prosecco, cheering on the Cowboys, or surprising herself with a newfound love of Formula One.

JOSEPHINE CARTER PHOTOGRAPHY

For more than two decades, weddings have been one of the great constants in owner Debbie Savvy’s life, not just as a photographer, but as someone who deeply understands what it takes to bring people together. She knows how to instantly put people at ease and tell a story that will matter for generations.

Debbie has photographed hundreds of weddings across the Whitsundays and beyond.

friends holding back tears. The wonderful crew working behind the scenes to create the magic.”

Debbie also knows, from experience, how overwhelming planning a wedding can be, especially when it’s a destination away from home.

“I’ve seen every possible weather change, timeline shift, family dynamic, emotional high and unexpected challenge, and I’ve learned that while weddings follow a rhythm, no two are ever the same.”

What is consistent, she says, is the need for a photographer who is calm under pressure, knows how to spot and fix issues before they become problems, is emotionally attuned, and genuinely invested in making the day extraordinary.

THE HISTORY

Tropix Photography has a long and varied history in the Whitsundays, and Debbie has been fortunate to be part of that journey for 21 years. At its height, Tropix was a large team photographing tourism, operating one of Australia’s busiest photolabs, and running a popular camera shop.

But as the industry evolved and technology transformed the way people capture images, Debbie’s passion became clearer.

“It was never about volume for me. It was always about people.”

“Weddings. Major events. Portraits that hold meaning long after the day has passed.”

As the business adapted and diversified, Debbie had the rare opportunity to step back and choose where her energy mattered most. When COVID arrived, and weddings paused overnight, the team pivoted easily into other photography work. In that space, Debbie made a conscious decision to wait.

“To wait until my youngest son finished school, to experience all the special moments for the last time. And now, we’re excited to be opening our wedding books again.”

“I love photographing weddings, the nervous excitement before the ceremony. The quiet moments no one else sees, the family and close

“When my husband Shane and I were married here while still living in Sydney, I remember how surprisingly difficult it was to find the right suppliers, and I’ve enjoyed helping clients, family and friends find their dream team.”

It’s one of the reasons Debbie helped create WeddingsWhitsundays. com. Community has always mattered to her, and over the years she has built strong relationships with venues, planners, celebrants, florists, and creatives across the region.

HOW TROPIX WORKS WITH CLIENTS

Debbie takes the time to truly get to know her couples — not just how they want their wedding to look, but who they are and how they want their day to feel.

“Some arrive with a clear vision. Others feel overwhelmed with the entire wedding day and unsure of what needs to happen. Both are equally welcome, and they’re so grateful for the options and reassurance that I offer.”

“We talk. “We plan. “We communicate in writing, over the phone, and in person. Some send me images of their dresses, decorations, cakes and details. And others seem relatively unfazed by the whole event.”

On the day itself, Debbie is calm and quietly observant. She guides where necessary and blends when all is unfolding as it should.

“When couples later tell me they felt relaxed, supported, and truly themselves, and that they love their photographs, I know I’ve done my job.”

“Your wedding is a living, breathing story, and it deserves to be told with care,” Debbie emphasised. For couples choosing to marry in the Whitsundays, whether you live here or are travelling from afar, Tropix Photography and Debbie would be honoured to tell your story.

Frank and Nadine Attard have long been regarded as a powerhouse couple in the Mackay region – an alliance that blends heart, hustle and two distinct professional worlds into one cohesive, high-performing partnership.

Frank’s background lies in engineering as Owner of Key Solutions Group, while Nadine leads with precision and passion in the beauty industry as the driving force behind Ella Baché Mackay.

On paper, the pairing may seem unconventional, but in practice, it’s a seamless fusion of strength, strategy and shared purpose, anchored by a deep commitment to each other and to the community they serve.

“We met in 2017… our conversations were easy and long.”

That effortless connection laid the foundation for a partnership built on respect, humour and aligned ambition.

At the time, Nadine was working at Toyota and Frank at Key Solutions Group. Their career paths looked different, yet both were equally driven, family-focused and grounded in strong values.

You could say it was a match made in heaven.

“Ever since we met, we have

enjoyed so many amazing memories together along with our kids, and we are certainly at our happiest when we are together.”

Over the years, their relationship has evolved into a dynamic, well-balanced collaboration.

Nadine has often stepped in as Frank’s farm hand and deckhand, while Frank has become her trusted business advisor and strongest supporter. Each brings a unique strength to the table, creating a partnership defined by mutual respect and neverending encouragement.

That same balance extends into their family life, where love leads every day.

“Our kids are everything to us… we love them and we are so very proud of them all.”

Despite demanding professional schedules, Frank and Nadine prioritise time together, keeping their downtime simple, joyful and grounded in connection.

They laugh, “We enjoy nothing more than a trip to spend time together, often ending in poker or Uno, as Monopoly is a dangerous game in a house full of competitive-minded people.”

Amid family fun, Nadine’s passion finds its expression in her professional life. As

owner of Ella Baché Mackay, she advocates for skin health and has earned the salon a reputation for quality, care, and exceptional results.

The salon offers tailor-made skin prescriptions focused on long-term planning to achieve the best results for hair, face, and body – not just for a wedding day, but for every day.

At Ella Baché Mackay, the team celebrates your skin, your style, and your confidence, taking pride in being part of every client’s story.

“We love the build-up, the ups and downs of the planning, and seeing all the photos and hearing about how amazing their day was,” says Nadine.

The recently opened salon space is a serene, quiet environment supported by highly skilled therapists whose expertise and passion are immediately felt.

Put your trust in specialists who combine a world of knowledge with a genuine desire to help you look – and feel – your very best.

That’s the Attard way: united, driven, and quietly unstoppable!

What sets the business apart is its ability to host the entire celebration in one location. Couples can hold their ceremony and reception on site, while guests are able to stay overnight with caravans and camping options available.

Food is a standout feature of the wedding packages, with hearty, crowd-favourite meals forming the centrepiece of celebrations.

“Our clients all say, if you love eating the pies and crumbed steaks here, why not have it at your wedding?” Donna said.

“Our couples love the pub atmosphere,

and it really is a wedding with a bit of a difference.”

Donna has been working in the wedding industry for nearly three decades, bringing a depth of knowledge that allows her to confidently guide couples through the process.

“They tell me what they want, and I execute it. I make sure it happens,” she said.

From set-up and styling to catering and coordination, everything is handled inhouse. The venue supplies all furniture and equipment, meaning couples don’t need to hire anything externally. Packages are customised to suit individual budgets, ensuring couples receive a memorable day without unexpected costs.

“If someone says they want to spend $10,000, we make it work within that,” Donna said.

“We stick to their budget.”

Donna and Jamie personally oversee each wedding, supported by a trained team dedicated specifically to wedding services.

With experience, flexibility and genuine care at the heart of the operation, the venue is fast building a reputation as a stress-free, all-inclusive option for couples wanting a celebration that feels personal, relaxed and unforgettable.

There’s something undeniably romantic about watching the sun sink into the sea, especially when you’re in the Whitsundays, where golden light, glassy water and island silhouettes create an undeniably magical atmosphere. Whether you’re on a honeymoon, anniversary escape or simply searching the perfect romantic setting, these sunset spots are unparallel.

HILL INLET LOOKOUT, WHITEHAVEN BEACH

It’s true what they say, the best views are always worth the climb! If you and your significant other aren’t bothered by a short hike for a big reward, Hill Inlet Lookout delivers one of the most iconic sunsets in Australia. As the tide shifts, the swirling white sands and turquoise waters glow softly in the fading light; it’s quiet, dramatic and perfect for that “just us” feeling (bonus points if you time it for golden hour photos).

CATSEYE BEACH, HAMILTON ISLAND

If romance to you means cocktails within arm’s reach, Catseye Beach is a winner. Facing west, this stretch of sand offers front-row sunset views with the convenience of nearby bars and resorts. Grab a drink, kick off your shoes and watch the sky turn peach, pink and violet as yachts drift past.

ONE TREE HILL, HAMILTON ISLAND

A slightly elevated sunset moment awaits at Hamilton Island’s infamous One Tree Hill. The panoramic views over the Whitsundays make it a favourite for proposals and honeymoon nights alike. It’s lively without being chaotic, romantic without trying too hard; undoubtably, the sweet spot.

SOUTH MOLLE ISLAND

If you’re chasing seclusion, South Molle Island is all about quiet intimacy. The sunsets here feel slower, softer and deeply peaceful, with the sun melting behind forested hills. It’s ideal for couples wanting to unplug and soak in the moment together.

ON THE WATER

Sometimes the best sunset seat isn’t on land at all. Sailing at dusk, with champagne in hand and the sun dropping behind the islands, is peak Whitsundays romance. It’s effortless, cinematic and unforgettable.

However you choose to enjoy the golden glow of a magical Whitsundays sunset, no matter the viewpoint, it’s a moment best shared with someone special.

FLAGSTAFF HILL LOOKOUT

Perched high above Bowen, Flagstaff Hill Lookout is one of those rare places where romance feels effortless.

During the winter months, that sense of wonder deepens as humpback whales pass by on their annual migration. From this elevated vantage point, visitors may spot the tell-tale spray of a blow or the graceful arc of a tail breaking the surface, an unforgettable sight made even more special when shared with someone close.

As the day fades, Flagstaff Hill truly comes into its own. The sky blushes with pinks and golds, and the hinterland glows as the sun slips toward the horizon.

BOWEN SUMMERGARDEN CINEMA

Movie lovers, stop right there. Bowen Summergarden Cinema is Queensland’s oldest cinema, has

been running since the 1940’s and its old charm and retro looks make it a unique stop.

Its nostalgic charm and relaxed atmosphere, invites couples, families and friends to slow down, share stories and experience the simple magic of cinema.

GRAYS BAY

Grays Bay is a place where nature puts on one of its most captivating displays. Sheltered and serene, the bay is known for its calm waters, shady picnic spots and postcardperfect views that invite visitors to pause and take it all in.

This is one of the few places in the Whitsundays where the sun sinks directly into the ocean. As evening approaches, the sky ignites in shades of gold, pink and deep amber, reflected across the water in a slow, shimmering farewell to the day. It’s a moment that feels both intimate and unforgettable.

Few experiences bring couples closer than sharing an underwater adventure, especially in a destination as breathtaking as North Queensland. Snorkelling is the ultimate romantic escape — slow, immersive and filled with quiet moments that feel entirely your own. With crystal-clear waters, vibrant reefs and secluded bays, it’s an experience that invites couples to slow down, disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with each other.

MAGNETIC ISLAND’S HIDDEN BAYS

For couples seeking a more relaxed, intimate snorkelling experience, Magnetic Island is ideal. Hidden bays like Geoffrey Bay and Florence Bay offer calm, clear waters overflowing with magical marine life. It’s low-pressure and easy to access, making it perfect for couples who want to explore at their own pace. Pack your own snorkels, take your time in the water and spend the rest of the day lazing on the beach or sharing sunset drinks nearby.

REEF ON YOUR DOORSTEP

Convenience, relaxation and an overall immersive experience, Bowen’s Horseshoe Bay offers couples crystal clear waters with vibrant marine life just metres from the shore. At Horseshoe Bay, you can quite literally walk straight off the sand and into the water, snorkel mask on, with coral and tropical fish waiting just a short swim from the beach.

THE WHITSUNDAYS REEF EXPERIENCES

Snorkelling in the Whitsundays is nothing short of magical. Floating side by side above kaleidoscopic coral gardens, watching tropical fish drift past, creates a sense of calm and connection that’s hard to replicate. Many reef tours cater specifically to couples, offering smaller group sizes, intimate reef locations and thoughtful touches like champagne on board. Between dips in the water, you can relax on deck, dry off in the sun and take in the endless blue stretching in every direction — romance comes effortlessly here.

PRIVATE SNORKELLING TOURS

If you’re celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary or special milestone, a private snorkelling charter adds a layer of exclusivity to the experience. With no crowds and no strict schedules, it’s just you, the reef and endless shades of blue. Private tours allow you to linger longer at your favourite spots, enjoy uninterrupted moments together and tailor the day entirely to your preferences — indulgent without being over the top, and unforgettable from start to finish.

There’s something deeply intimate about sharing silence underwater; It’s adventure without chaos, excitement without stress - a rare combination that makes snorkelling the ideal romantic activity. Whether it’s your first trip together or your tenth anniversary, it’s a shared experience you’ll talk about long after the salt has washed off.

At first glance, finding romantic hotspots hidden in the bustling city of Townsville may seem like searching for a needle in a haystack, but if you look a little closer, you’ll find it’s packed with unexpectedly dreamy gems; especially for couples who like their love stories with a side of adventure and nature. Picture rainforest escapes and island getaways to golden-hour walks along the water, Townsville quietly proves that romance dose not need to be flashy to be unforgettable.

PALUMA RANGE NATIONAL PARK

If romance means escaping the world together, Paluma is unmatched. Just over an hour from Townsville, this lush rainforest village feels like a secret retreat hidden in the clouds. Think misty mornings, waterfall swims, moss-covered walking tracks and cosy cabins tucked beneath towering trees. The cooler climate alone makes it feel like another

world, perfect for slow mornings, shared hikes and long conversations by the fire. It’s quiet, cool and wildly romantic; the kind of place where time slows down and the outside world fades away.

THE STRAND AT SUNSET

Simple, classic and always effective. A sunset stroll along The Strand is effortless romance, with the Coral Sea glowing beside you and Magnetic Island silhouetted on the horizon. Couples can grab gelato, sprawl on the grass or settle in for a beachfront dinner as the sky shifts through shades of gold and pink. Whether it’s a first date or a long-term love, sometimes the low-key moments are the most intimate.

CASTLE HILL LOOKOUT

Castle Hill never fails to deliver one of the best panoramas in North Queensland. Visit

at sunset for sweeping coastal views or after dark when the city lights twinkle below. It’s a favourite for late-night chats, car-date energy and spontaneous kisses under the stars; romantic without trying too hard.

MAGNETIC ISLAND

Just a short ferry ride away, Magnetic Island is a romantic escape in its own right. Secluded beaches, snorkelling hand-in-hand, sunset drinks at Horseshoe Bay and quiet walks spotting wild koalas, it’s relaxed, tropical and perfect for couples who want to feel miles away without actually travelling far. Stay the night or make a day trip of it; either way, it’s a reset button for romance.

PALLARENDA BEACH

Less crowded and wonderfully peaceful, Pallarenda Beach is ideal for couples wanting a quiet moment together. Watch the sun

dip behind Mount Stuart, listen to the waves roll in and enjoy the stillness that settles over the shoreline. Bring a picnic, linger until the sky darkens, and let the simplicity of the setting do the rest.

ANDERSON GARDENS

Anderson Gardens offers a surprising pocket of subtle romance. Wander shaded paths, sit by the water and enjoy the calm, manicured beauty of one of Townsville’s most tranquil spaces. It’s perfect for a slow afternoon date or a breather between adventures.

DINNER WITH A VIEW

Townsville’s waterfront dining scene truly shines when the sun goes down. A candlelit dinner overlooking the marina or ocean sets the mood effortlessly; no grand gestures required. Add a sea breeze, clinking glasses and good conversation, and the night takes care of itself.

Townsville’s most romantic moments are often found in its quiet corners, from rainforest hideaways to island sunsets, the city proves that love stories here unfold best when you slow down and savour the view.

When you think of a honeymoon, you may picture a couple posing in front of the Eifel Tower or strolling hand in hand past the irresistible blue water of the Maldives. How about a place much closer to home that avoids the jet lag?

Magnetic Island’s white sand beaches, luxury resorts, and romantic walks are synonymous with the word honeymoon. From spotting your first koala together, to diving to see a shallow, historically significant 1863 iron shipwreck located at Cockle Bay, you are sure to come away feeling refreshed, inspired, and with lasting memories of a truly special adventure.

Here are some romantic experiences to try if you choose Magnetic Island for your honeymoon:

While a small island, Magnetic Island is home to 23 secluded beaches and bays, fringing the underwater city that is the Great Barrier Reef, where you might spot the diverse marine life that inhabits it, including whales from June to October. Grab some of your favourite treats, head down to one of the quiet stretches of white sand and enjoy a romantic picnic at sunset, where you can gaze at the miriad of colours the queensland sky paints.

SUNLIT TRAILS FOR TWO

Magnetic Island is 75 per cent national park, and for the adventurous couples there is lots to experience. Before heading to the Forts Walk, where if you scan the tree-tops you may be able to glimpse one of the 800 wild koalas the island hosts, head to Geoffrey Bay. Here you can see the local rock wallabies that gather on the headlands. For those seeking a romantic piece of history, hop back on the bus or your hire vehicle and head up to see the remains of the world war II forts which were designed to protect Townsville from Japanese attack. Here, as aforementioned, you can spot some grey-furred friends, who will often be cosied up

and crowded by a quiet group of tourists. Upon finishing the walk, you will be faced with a panoramic view of the island and water that surround it.

A LOVE LETTER UNDER THE SEA

If the love of water brought you two together. There are many guided snorkel and scuba dives in and around the Great Barrier Reef so you can explore the underwater oasis. Or if you prefer life on the water but not in it, grab a romantic cruise around the island to capture views of the expansive and colour rich coastline.

If you are choosing where to honeymoon, keep your sights on Magnetic Island, there is a reason it’s called magnetic.

A Club for everyone!

Located right in the heart of Ingham, the Herbert River RSL is your go-to spot to gather, grab a bite, relax, and have a good time - any day, any time.

Whether you’re stopping by for a hearty meal, a coffee catch-up, or a refreshing drink, were here to make you feel at home in our friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Members, guests, and families are always welcome. We look forward to seeing you soon!

After 18 months of transformation, the Mission Beach town centre revitalisation project is nearly complete, with the final streetscape works now underway.

The revitalisation project has significantly reshaped Porter Promenade and the beachfront precinct – opening clearer views to the foreshore, strengthening infrastructure for the future, and creating a safer, accessible, and more welcoming town centre for locals and visitors.

“This project will breathe life back into this iconic destination, unleash its tremendous tourism potential, and create opportunities for investment, economic growth, and prosperity,” said Mayor Teresa Millwood.
