LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES • Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) The September 2023 Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) claim was completed and submitted to the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) for reimbursement. In September there were 20 food service days for the month. There were 16 eligible sites and 1,518 eligible children. The number of meals provided: 7,797 breakfasts; 7,895 lunches and 20,705 PM snacks served. Expected reimbursement for the month is $77,884.79. • GCCSA Story Time with Tiamoiya – Our Head Start/Early Head Start Director read to the Head Start and Early Start children in October. She read “There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves” written by Lucille Colandro. Children and staff enjoyed it live on their Promethean boards.
• The November Story Time reader will be author Calvin Denson, reading two of his children’s books – “Mommy Had Eyes in the Back of Her Head “ and “My Dad Says Yes!”.
• Child Development Specialists in Collaboration with Center Administrators conducted virtual interviews and submitted candidate recommendations with supporting documentation to hire Teacher/Teacher Assistants/Teacher Aides.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT (CD) • Early Head Start: Children at Early Head Start (EHS) continued August learning in September. Threes: Theme 2- “My Family and Friends”- Week

Immediate Family- This week, the children will discuss family members and their roles in the family unit. Week 2- My Relatives- This week, the children will learn about their extended family members. Week 3- Pets- This week, the children will learn about different kinds of pets and ways to take care of them. Most children, when asked, will claim that their pets are members of the family. Week 4- My Community This week, the children will explore the people
in
