GULF COAST COMMUNITY SERVICES ASSOCIATION Head Start/Early Head Start Support Services Monthly Narrative June 2026 LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES: ▪

End of Another Great School Year – GCCSA Head Start/Early Head Start concluded another successful school year. Throughout the year, children demonstrated significant milestones in their growth, development, and school readiness. Head Start and Early Head Start centers celebrated these accomplishments with end-of-year celebrations for children and families. ▪ Staff Evaluations – Staff received their annual performance evaluations this month. Each staff member met individually with their supervisor to review and discuss their job performance, accomplishments, strengths, and opportunities for continued growth. All evaluations were completed by the June 30 deadline. ▪ Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) The May 2026 Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) claim was completed and submitted to the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) for reimbursement. In May there were 20 food service days for the month. There were 15 eligible sites and 1,385 eligible children. The number of meals provided: 4,742 breakfasts; 4,862 lunches and 18,175 PM snacks served. Expected reimbursement for the month is $58,639.58. ▪ Congratulations to the following Centers for no errors/no returns on the May 2026 CACFP Monthly Report submitted: Early Head Start – Kathleen Trousdale; Kelso – Mary Addison; Raul Yzaguirre Houston – Lorena Santos – Ramos; Reynolds – Jessica Taylor; Richey – Crystal Brown and Rucker – Glenda Velez. Keep up the fantastic work. ▪ GCCSA/SHINE ECE Meeting – The Child Development Manager and the Assistant Director held their Early Childhood Education (ECE) meeting with SHINE representation, Sonali Raval, Director of Education & Family and Community Engagement, Shine Assist ▪ Alleged Child Abuse Policy & Procedures – The Assistant Director, representatives from the Human Resources Department, and Operations Support Managers were assigned to review and update the Alleged Child Abuse Policy and Procedures. The revised policy and procedures were finalized and submitted to the Interim CEO for review and approval.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT (CD): ▪

Early Head Start Infant Classrooms the teachers implement “Activity Trackers” for each child and plan for each child according to his or her individual need. ▪ Early Head Start Frog Street Toddler Curriculum Theme 10 “Bugs” Week 1 “Mosquitoes and Flies”- This week children will learn about flies and mosquitoes. Week 2- “Ants and Bees”- This week children will learn about ants and bees. They will learn how to identify these insects and how to stay safely away from their bites and stings. Week 3 “Caterpillars and Butterflies”- This week children will continue their study of the characteristics of insects. They will learn how caterpillars become butterflies. ▪ Early Head Start Frog Street Three-Year-Old Curriculum Theme 4 “Safe and Healthy Me” Week 1 “Safe Me”- This week children will explore safety rules, as teachers teach about rules that support their health and safety at home as well as at school. Week 2 “Healthy Me”- This week children will learn why it is important to wash their hands, brush their teeth, have regular doctor visits, take their vitamins, and more. Week 3 “Eating Well”- This week children will learn why it is important to eat foods from all food groups and to eat three meals a day at the same time each day. Week 4 “Active Me”- This week children will learn regular exercise help them to grow, build strong muscles and bones. They will also learn why it is important to get moving June 2026 Monthly Report
