Each day featured activities aligned with the daily theme, creating meaningful opportunities for learning, engagement, and fun for everyone involved. FUN! Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) The March 2026 Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) claim was completed and submitted to the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) for reimbursement. The number of meals provided: 4,707 breakfasts; 4,830 lunches and 17,344 PM snacks served. Expected reimbursement for the month is $57,123.81. April Story Time – Mr. Gregg Yarborough, Head Start & Early Head Start Special Services Specialist read to the children and staff, “My Brain is Magic” by Prasha Sooful with illustrations by Geeta Ladi in celebration of Autism Month. Whether your brain buzzes around the room like a bee or tells you to be loud and roar like a lion, celebrate the many things it can be! This book takes you on a journey by way of a child's favorite animals to learn how your brain interacts with the world around you. This sensory-seeking celebration shines a light on sensory processing and neurodiversity in a fun and action-packed way for all children to enjoy. ▪ The GCCSA Team continued to plan for an exciting literacy event for children and their families to be held May 7. Staff also continue to prepare for the upcoming Head Start FA2 review. ▪ GCCSA/Shine ECE Monthly Meeting was held this month to discuss training topics for this summer’s professional development. TA was also given to support in our anticipated FA2 review. ▪ Internal Audit/Health & Nutrition Meeting was held this month to review and discuss the internal auditor’s Head Start centers’ CACFP monitoring reports.
