GET TO KNOW OUR SOCIAL WORKERS

Meet our dedicated team of social workers, led by Christelle Oosthuizen Grace Ndinisa, Janelle Destroo and Rechelle Smith has the big responsibility of supporting our children during challenging times Our two newest members Caroline Beukes and Veronique Alexander has been appointed as part of our new family reunification project The project focus on family reunification and works in partnership with family members to ensure that the children are returned home in the shortest time possible

As we celebrated Social Workers Day on March 18, 2025, we acknowledged their impactful efforts in our children's lives. Each team member brings unique skills and compassion, fostering a nurturing environment. They build trust, provide emotional support, and advocate for children's needs

We are proud of the inspiring work they do, and we encourage continued support and celebration of these remarkable individuals at Huis Andrew Murray

ONS KWARTAAL FUNKSIES IN 2025

HAM Dankseggingsdiens Ons het 2025 afgeskop met ons jaarlikse Dankseggingsdiens tradisie by Wellington Moederkerk Ds Francois Maritz het ' n gepaste tema van sagmoedigheid in ons kinders se harte ingebring.

Die 5de HAM/ MCC Golf Dag was aangebied op Vrydag, 7 Maart 2025 by Boschenmeer Golf Estate 20 x 4 golfspanne het ‘ n heerlike warm dag op die golfbaan geniet en bygedra tot die sukses van die geleenthied.

Omgee-Mamma/Pappa & Kiddie Oggend was weereens ‘ n wenner onder die gemeenskap en ons kinders Die oggend was ‘ n groot sukses, met ons kinders wat verskeie kultuur items kon optree en tyd spandeer saam met hulle omgee-mammas en pappas

We were thrilled to welcome Minister Jaco Londt to Huis Andrew Murray CYCC earlier this year He met some of our children and staff and we showed him how we keep the wheels rolling at HAM

As one of the Child and Youth Care Centres (CYCCs) supported by the Western Cape Department of Social Development, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for vulnerable children. Our dedicated staff go above and beyond to ensure each child feels loved and valued, a commitment shared by many CYCCs across the province

Huis Andrew Murray CYCC is proud to be the official beneficiary of the Rhodes Quality Half Marathon event in Wellington on Thursday 1 May 2025. All the funds raised will go towards our Sports Fund to ensure that our children has access to different sport tours, equipment and activities On the online entry form, just before you make payment, you have the option to DONATE to us. OCCUPATIONAL STUDENTS

Fourth-year occupational therapy students from the University of Stellenbosch are completing a 6-week clinical rotation at Huis Andrew Murray (HAM) in Wellington Under the guidance of clinician Lomarie Thesnaar Students Tatum Nicolay and Katelyn Gangiah work in indirect services on community projects, the playground project and the literacy project and Qhamisa Dodo provides direct services, assessing and treating children at HAM

Playground Project: This initiative aims to create an enjoyable environment that encourages age-appropriate play and stimulates children's motor, sensory, social, and perceptual development.

1. Literacy Project: This project focuses on maintaining the literacy skills of children at HAM by building foundational learning skills and promoting participation in reading, listening to stories, and writing. It aims to prepare children for future learning and development, offering them the tools to excel as learners, students, and workers, ultimately paving the way to a better future

ART THERAPY

We are fortunate to have Cat de Lange Art Therapy, who teaches art classes to our Grade 7 learners.

She inspires creativity and emotional expression through various mediums, fostering artistic skills, emotional wellbeing, and self-discovery These sessions encourage students to explore their thoughts and feelings in a supportive environment, promoting confidence and personal growth. The art classes complement other programs at Huis Andrew Murray, contributing to a holistic approach to the children's development.

OPERASIE LIEFDE UITREIKTHUSONG SENTRUM

As deel van HAM se uitreikingsprogram, het

' n paar van ons kinders, sowel as personeel ' n motiveringspraatjie en geskenke gaan uitdeel vir die kinders in ons gemeenskap

Daar was speletjies gespeel en lekker gekuier en ons is dankbaar dat ons kon uitreik en ' n verskil kon maak in hulle Valentynsdag. '

SPORTDAG

Ons kinders het begin van Maart maand hulle eerste sportdag van die jaar teen Durbanville Kinderhuis geniet

Die dag het goed afgeloop en baie van ons kinders het vir eerste keer die geleentheid gekry om deel te neem aan netbal en rugby.

GROENTETUIN

Ons is baie bevoorreg om ‘ n klein groentetuin by HAM te hê. Hierdie projek is in 2024 begin met die doel om ‘ n funksionerende groetetuin te vestig, wat die kombuis van basiese groente kan verskaf.

Ons kinders is verantwoordelik om die groentetuin in stand te hou en te versorg Die grond is verdeel en elke huis is verantwoordelik vir ‘ n area. Hierdie projek val onder die selfstandige leefwyse program wat ons kinders verskeie lewensvaardighede aanleer
