GForce GForce indicates sires with elite genetic evaluations based on a combination of traditional pedigree data and genomic data, but does not contain actual daughter data. This combination of data increases the reliability of a young sire’s genetic prediction prior to the availability of actual daughter data.

GForce+ The GForce+ lineup includes genomic young sires selected based on rigid semen quality standards and their high-ranking Sire Conception Rate (SCR) from progeny test semen usage. GForce+ sires must have outstanding genetic merit, a highly reliable sire stack and actual calving ease observations.

FeedPRO® FeedPRO optimizes the selection for increased production and moderate body size while maintaining body condition score and daughter fertility. This revolutionary index designates sires with the genetics to improve income over feed costs and maintain health and reproductive traits.

GrazingPRO® World Wide Sires’ GrazingPRO sires are selected to improve the profitability of grass-based production systems by transmitting greater longevity, better mobility, moderate stature, improved component yields, and superior production - all while not compromising fitness traits such as Daughter Pregnancy Rate (DPR) and Somatic Cell Score (SCS).

RobotPRO® World Wide Sires has identified sires that transmit the desired traits for robotic milking systems. These sires were selected by focusing on component and milk yield, milk quality, udder health as well as functional udder traits. Use these sires to create the next generation of profitable cows for your specific milking system.

A2/A2 Sires test A2/A2 for Beta Casein.

Showcase Sires earn the Showcase designation through outstanding breed-leading Type or show-winning pedigrees. Turn to this designation to produce your next show winner or improve the overall type in your herd.

FertilityPRO® The FertilityPRO designation identifies sires with semen that will likely improve pregnancy rates. This designation is assigned by examining industry service sire conception rate values, along with intensive in-house semen quality evaluations.

gender SELECTED™ Look for the gender SELECTED icon to identify sires with sex-sorted semen available. More heifers is not out of reach with our research-backed gender SELECTED sires. All gender SELECTED semen is processed using SexedULTRA technology.

Elite Sexed Fertility™ The Elite Sexed Fertility icon designates sires that can help you achieve the highest sex-sorted semen conception rates, enhancing your return on investment! This innovative designation distinguishes our highest performing sires for sex-sorted semen in both 2M and 4M products.

Mastitis ResistantPRO® Sires which excel in multiple indicators of mastitis resistance are more likely to deliver genetic improvement. MastitisResistantPRO uses a combination of CDCB Mastitis Resistance, CDCB Somatic Cell Score (SCS) and Zoetis Mastitis Resistance. The goal of Select Sires’ NxGEN® program is to provide genetic advantages to dairy producers who are looking for next-level genetic gains. By joining and accepting the terms and conditions of the NxGEN program, members will have earlier access to our most elite genetics, which are widely respected in today’s genomic world, and the ability to capture breed-leading genetic trends like never before.

WHAT WILL BE MOST IMPORTANT TO YOUR BREEDING PROGRAMME IN THE NEXT THREE YEARS?

COMPARE THE COMPOSITION OF THESE INDEXES TO HELP IN YOUR DECISION.

MAKE MORE SPEND LESS

Avoid costly mastitis cases and save money

Reduce waste milk and keep valuable replacements in the herd

Lower antimicrobial use

Healthy cows produce more

Mastitis ResistantPRO designates sires which excel in multiple indicators of mastitis resistance and are more likely to deliver genetic improvement. Mastitis ResistantPRO uses a combination of CDCB Mastitis Resistance, CDCB Somatic Cell Score (SCS) and Zoetis Mastitis Resistance.

*Includes only cows with at least 2 generations of known CDCB Parentage ** Uses genetic ancestry prediction for inherited CDCB MAST

Last season WWS approached us to be involved in a Mastitis and Somatic Cell Score case study to NZ validate the core traits which feed into their Mastitis ResistantPRO designation. The herds included needed detailed recording of mastitis cases and be herd testing regularly for SCC – we made up two of the 28 herds in the study. We put a lot of focus on mastitis prevention and SCC on-farm, we were pleased to see that where we sat in the cohort study showed this. Currently for SCC this season to date, we’ve averaged 58 in January, and 75 STD, to the factory.

Despite this being among the top performing herds in the study, it was interesting to still see the strong genetic link between the WWS Mastitis & SCS traits to our clinical cases and SCC Threshold limits.

It clearly emphasised to me that you can breed for not just lower SCC, but lower cases of clinical mastitis with Mastitis ResistantPRO designated sires.

A NEW ERA OF GENOMIC TESTING

IS COMING

WWS NZ and Zoetis are excited to be working through the final stages of our new Genomic Testing Offering, designed specifically for New Zealand clients. This upcoming release brings together Zoetis’ internationally renowned technology and tools, paired with the needs of the local dairy industry.

If you’d like to be among the first to hear what the programme offers and be notified the moment it goes live, please join our mailing list.

After going on the WWS farm tour seeing how fast genomics is progressing in the US, joining the NxGEN program was an easy decision. My breeding goals here remain the same, a healthy, fertile, productive, moderate-statured cow and NxGEN is helping me reach them faster.

The small one-off fee is a small investment for access to the youngest, high-accuracy genomic sires with exceptional production and health traits. If you’re considering it, my advice would be, ‘get into it!’

Jamie Eggleton, Pareora, South Canterbury

Improve Profitability

Increase the lifetime solids and value of milk produced with emphasis on economically important traits that are scientifically linked to longevity.

Embrace Technology

The ability to use female genomic data in the mating process and rank the herd on these evaluations allows producers to embrace new commercial technologies and incorporate them into the breeding program.

Manage Risk

Manage inbreeding one of the largest “hidden” costs in dairying, with up to 10 generations of pedigree analysis. With the discovery of new genetic haplotypes and recessives, the ability of the WMS system to avoid carrier matings is critical to animal health and farm profitability.

Make the Best Use of Your Time

Genetic information changes rapidly, making it difficult to remain up to date on proof data and pedigrees. Experienced WMS consultants are committed to developing an accurate genetic plan for your dairy, so you can focus on other aspects of your business.

Maximise Your Genetic Investment

Customized indexes and sire selection tools tailored to assist the farmer to identify the bulls best suited for the herd, and ensure the semen is used to maximise genetic progress.

HerdMaxx

The HerdMaxx option of WMS allows mating decisions to be made using pedigree-focused technology. HerdMaxx enhances the mating process for commercial herds focused on limiting inbreeding and recessive traits.

Breeding from a population which, at the core, are bred to convert feed efficiently into milk and get in-calf doing it suited our strategy and business direction. Yes the US cows on average are bigger, but we simply select from the portion of the population that meets our cow size requirements, yet retain the benefits like the rapid improvement in udder quality and cow structure. It was an obvious transition for us. After travelling on the USA Farm Tour in June 2025 it was clear to me the most efficient farms in the US put a lot of emphasis on genetics, but back the technology and tools available to them to manage it. I’m passionate about making efficient milk from cows day to day, not getting into the weeds of every individual mating and genetic decision which is why we started using the WMS. Mating recommendations at our fingertips, which are easy for the team to follow and I know are driving our herd to our target while I focus on other aspects of the business.

Quickly address enteric health issues with Calf Renova© and help support recovery by enhancing intestinal microflora.

• Helps to clean gut of microbes which cause scouring/diarrhea

• Feeds beneficial bacteria and facilitates competitive exclusion of pathogens

• A non-antibiotic alternative

• Powerful antioxidant for immune enhancement

Bluelite© ReplenishM is a palatable liquid buffered calf electrolyte formulated for the scouring calf. Providing oral rehydration with a preferred alkalinizing agent.

• Maintains a low abomasal pH to decrease incidence of infection and clinical disease

• Produces and provides energy

• Easy to use liquid electrolyte

• No stirring required

We have used Calf Renova boluses for the past two seasons and are very impressed with the benefits of them. We were introduced to the product at southern field days a few years back when it was hot off the press. Our WWS rep, John Bannatyne explained what it was all about and we felt it was something we could utilise well in our system. Our dairy rears 460 heifer replacements. We blanket administer the boluses at 3 days of age to provide additional immunity where it is crucial. Calf Renova boluses are also great to use when transitioning calves from whole milk to milk powder and onto calf meal to help combat nutritional scour outbreaks. They are also great at helping calves recover from existing scours. We noticed with the use of Calf Renova calves bounced back faster and didn’t lose as much appetite.

Calf Renova boluses are easy to administer, and in our opinion a staple in calf rearing, for the prevention and treatment of scours. From the past two years of rearing with them we have used minimal electrolytes, saving labour for calf rearing staff. Alongside aiding the health of our calves.

In the event that WWS elects not to purchase the male offspring, the male offspring may be sold, provided that the customer ensures that it is always a written condition of sale that the male offspring may only be used during male’s entire lifetime as a service bull for natural mating only (i.e. not for the collection of semen nor artificial breeding/artificial insemination), unless WWS first provides its written consent (to be provided or withheld at the sole and absolute discretion of WWS). The condition of sale referred to in this clause 5.2 must record that such condition is for the benefit of, and enforceable by, WWS, for the purposes of Part 2 of the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017.

5.3 The customer will ensure that any third party purchasing female offspring bred using “NxGen” designated semen supplied by WWS is informed of, and agrees in writing to comply with all terms of WWS’s “NxGEN Agreement”.

5.4 The customer will at all times keep accurate records of semen use that is supplied by WWS and with offspring bred using such semen. The customer will not sell or dispose of any cow (pregnant or otherwise) that is derived from “NxGen” designated semen to any purchaser who s not a member of WWS’s “NxGen” program, unless WWS’s prior written consent is first obtained.

5.5 If the customer breaches any part of this clause 5, the parties will have 90 days to resolve any and all breaches of contract. If no resolution to any breach can be resolved in writing, the following will apply:

(a) all pregnancies or resulting animals will belong to WWS;

(b) a five NZD per straw royalty fee will be paid to WWS by the customer for all semen sold prior to the discovery of such a breach and will continue for the duration that such product remains sold. The royalty fee set out in this clause will be payable in respect of any semen sold from any descendant resulting from semen supplied by WWS; and

(c) the customer will grant WWS a worldwide, perpetual, assignable, non-revocable, royalty free licence in relation to any intellectual property rights obtained or claimed, based on, or derived from (in whole or in part), WWS’s genetic material/information.

5.6 This clause 5 will apply no matter by what means the customer came to control or possess genetic material/information, semen or offspring supplied or originating from WWS.

5.7 The customer agrees that it is fair and reasonable that it is bound by the provisions of this clause 5 and that the provisions of this clause 5 are reasonably necessary to protect WWS’s interest in its intellectual property.

DWP$ Dairy Wellness Profit Index: A multi-trait selection index that includes production, fertility, type, longevity, and the wellness traits with unique formulas used for Holsteins and Jerseys.

Predicted Transmitting Ability (PTA) Milk, Fat & Protein: Predicts the average production of the sire’s future daughters above or below the breed genetic base for Milk lbs, Fat lbs & Protein lbs per lactation.

PL Productive Life: A score used to identify the productive months of life a cow will have compared to herd mates. A PL of 1.0 equates to one additional month of production in the herd. PL gives the greatest weight to the first 305 days (10 months) of lactation, as cows are most profitable and productive in early lactation.

DPR Daughter Pregnancy Rate: Measures the cow’s ability to begin cycling, show estrus, conceive, and maintain pregnancy. A DPR of 1.0 equates to a 1% increase in pregnancy rate during a given 21 day estrus cycle. Every 1.0 PTA increase in DPR indicates 4 fewer days open.

SCS Somatic Cell Count: Indicates genetic susceptibility for udder health, as revealed through somatic cell count. The USA herd average is set to 3.00 (as zero) with lower proof values indicating lower somatic cell count.

Scan these boxes with your smartphone’s camera and you will be linked to more information on this particular bull.

MAST PTA Mastitis: Expected resistance of an animal’s offspring to clinical mastitis compared to the breed average base, expressed in percentage points.

SCE Sire Calving Ease: This is the estimate of the Percentage of Difficult Births in Heifers (DBH) when they calve the first time. The average for the Holstein breed is 2.2%.

SGL Gestation Length: Expressed as the number of days greater than or less than the average gestation length for the breed. The typical range is +/-5 days. In general, gestation length has decreased over time for breeds that have selected for lower calving ease (i.e. Holstein), as calving ease and gestation length are highly correlated. Gestation Length is available for all dairy breeds. US is 5 days shorter than NZ average (277 US, 282 days NZ).

BCS Body Conditon Score: Canadian Breeding Value that expresses the expected body condition score for a bull’s daughters when compared to the average body condition for the population. 100 is standardized to the average of the population and breed, with numbers above 100 indicating higher than average body condition.

MS Milking Speed: PTA Milking Speed expressing the expected pounds of milk per minute produced by a bull’s daughters in a conventional milking system. The population average is standardised to 7lbs per minute, with values above 7 indicating faster-than-average milking spead and values below 7 indicated slower-than-average milking speed.

SCR Sire Conception Rate: This is not a genetic trait, but measures the fertility of the bull. An SCR of 1.0 indicates a 1% increase in conception rate when compared to average.

PTAT PTA Type or conformation improvement expected from a bull’s daughters compared to contemporaries.

UDC Udder Composite Index (Holstein) = Udder Depth 0.20, Fore Udder 0.16, Rear Udder Height 0.23, Rear Udder Width 0.19, Udder Cleft 0.08, Front Teat Placement 0.04, Rear Teat Placement 0.05, Teat Length 0.05, Stature -0.20.
