When Bob Chipman steps onto the court for his first game in 2008-09, his 30th season at Washburn, he will have the third highest winning percentage amongst coaches with 30 years of experience or more in NCAA Division II. For 23 years now Chipman has been the winningest coach in school history and in 2006-07 he became the second winningest coach as a member of the MIAA. Chipman is 646-251 (.720) overall and he has 405 wins since the Ichabods joined the MIAA. Chipman’s third game of 2008-09 will be his 900th as a head coach. sons. Among that group, he is sixth in career victories. Among all coaches who have at least 10 years experience in DII, he is 18th in winning percentage and sixth in victories. Among active coaches with at least five years in NCAA II, Chipman is third in victories and 10th in winning percentage. Among Chipman’s top accomplishments are his 1986-87 NAIA national championship and his 2000-01 NCAA national finalist finish. He has also coached seven different All-Americans, five MIAA most valuable players and 12 all-MIAA first-teamers. Chipman has guided his teams to 22 20-win seasons and his teams have averaged 22 wins a year during his career.
