e caught up with Vice President & Managing Director, Jo Rzymowska from Celebrity Cruises to give us some exclusive insight into the cruise line and its latest news!
What’s your best piece of advice for guests thinking of sailing with Celebrity Cruises? Celebrity Cruises journeys to over 300 destinations across 70 countries, so my advice would be to think about a corner of the world you’ve been meaning to explore, and then speak to a travel advisor to give you expert advice and guidance on picking one of our many amazing itineraries. With six ships in Europe in summer 2022, including all three of our ground-breaking Edge Series ships, and itineraries varying from a four-day mini cruise to Bruges and Amsterdam for a first taste of a Celebrity holiday, to ten-night Greek Isles adventure exploring the best of the Aegean, plus bucket-list sailings to Iceland and Ireland, there really is a Celebrity holiday to satisfy everyone’s wanderlust.
What makes Celebrity Cruises different from other luxury cruise lines? Our mantra is Journey WonderFULL,
which means indulging in luxury experiences without being traditional or stuffy. Which is your favourite cruise ship? I didn’t think it was possible to improve on the already perfect Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Apex, but when I stepped onboard Celebrity Beyond for the first time earlier this year, I was truly blown away. The third ship in our evolutionary Edge Series takes our innovative outward-facing design to the next level, creating so many opportunities to be connected to the vast ocean. The Sunset Bar has been expanded to almost twice its previous size and provides so much opportunity to take in the amazing wake views, and our Rooftop Garden now includes cantilevered float pools that take you right to the water’s edge. The Grand Plaza is a true design feat – a vast social venue that encompasses dramatic design with delicious cocktails and charismatic flair bartenders. And with the addition of Le Voyage, Michelinstarred Daniel Boulud’s first restaurant at sea, with a menu inspired by his global travels, our culinary offerings were taken to new heights.
What’s the one thing you would advise everyone to experience on their Celebrity Cruises sailing? There is so much to do and see onboard our ships, so that is a tough one to choose! But my top tip to everyone is always to join the art tour onboard. We’ve always pushed design to the limit when it comes to a Celebrity Cruises ship, appointing world-renowned architects, interior designers and landscape artists to envision the most inspiring spaces at sea, so it comes

naturally that we take great pride in the curating an art collection that complements the design. The art tour on Celebrity Beyond takes you to some of the 4,500 pieces of art found onboard, from over 700 artists (to put it in perspective, that’s 500 more pieces than the Acropolis Museum!). There are dramatically magnificent pieces such as the LED-light chandelier in the Grand Plaza, plus smaller artwork found throughout the ship such as Rubem Robierb’s powerful sculpture of two interlaced doves called Peacemakers.
If you could only visit one port on a cruise, which would it be and why? Palma de Mallorca has always held such a fond place in my heart, because every time I return, which has been many over the years, I am reminded just why I instantly fell in love with it – sunshine, smiles, serene beauty and some of the best beaches and views in Southern Europe. The capital of Mallorca is nestled within a beautiful bay with my favourite views of the Mediterranean, and offers sunshine for most of the year. Palma has something to offer for everyone, from culture and art, beaches, fantastic food & drink to opportunities to explore the mountains. This year, Celebrity Edge, Constellation and Beyond all call into Palma throughout the summer, with even more ships visiting in 2023, so there’s no excuse not to visit this beautiful destination!
You have just announced Olympic gymnast, Simone Biles as the godmother to Celebrity Beyond. What made you choose her for the role? For our ground-breaking Edge Series ships, we chose transformational and courageous Godmothers who break barriers and champion change in their respective fields. Simone Biles is not only a tremendously accomplished gymnast, but she is an incredible advocate for speaking out about mental health and for inspiring others to believe in themselves and achieve their greatest, so it seems natural for her to join Malala Yousafzai and Reshma Saujani, who serve as godmothers of Beyond’s sister ships, Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Apex respectively. I can’t wait to meet Simone later this year in Fort Lauderdale, when she takes on her role as Godmother, and officially names Celebrity Beyond.
