ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which the Western Sydney Law Students’ Association was founded, the Dharug people.

We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, waters and community.

We pay our respects to their cultures, and elders, past, present, and emerging.

EVENTS AND NEWS UNPRECEDENTED SUCCESS AT ORIENTATION!

What happens when you take a handful of incoming students, a dedicated team and a stand full of merch? I’ll tell you: you get a success!

That was a bit of an understatement. To the School of Law: staff, students, firms and alums, we have done it again. This year ’ s Parramatta South Campus Orientation Day on Tuesday 24 February has brought over 1000 newly enrolled students and by far the only time I’ve seen EA.G.18 packed from top row to bottom floor carpets with students! th

But I digress- it has been a delight to meet students who have shown interest for law, reminding us that with each passing year, the proverbial bar is being raised, and the future of the legal profession is in great hands

A huge thanks to the Western Sydney Law Students’ Association team, LawUno and some of our student volunteers for taking the time to encourage the conversation and inquiry that will certainly benefit our newcomers moving forward

Our socials have also seen a dramatic increase In one day alone, our Instagram page has received 100 new followers! Not a part of our lucky 100? Follow us now at @westsydlsa

Let’s review the facts: with over 1000 new students across the Bachelor of Laws and Juris Doctor programs, we are now one of Sydney’s largest law schools in addition to being the home of some of Sydney’s most industry-ready alumni. We can’t wait to see you all make your way through what is now, as far as I’m concerned, the newly commenced academic year!

As for the Orientation itself, students were treated to some valuable advice from continuing students and the presence of our wonderful professors, never mind the summer heat. So, whether you ’ re surviving or thriving, or maybe even a little bit of both, you can’t deny that the atmosphere post-presentation was anything short of a success, and there’ll be more of that success right up to the 2026 Law Ball.
