April 2026

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which the Western Sydney Law Students’ Association was founded, the Dharug people.
We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, waters and community.
We pay our respects to their cultures, and elders, past, present, and emerging.

Welcome back one and all to yet another edition of The WSLSA Monthly. It’s been a month into the new semester, and already emails are flooding in. You know what that means... Another jam-packed issue brimming with opportunities for our students to participate in some of our educational and socially inclined events. Personally, I could take a break from some of the assigned readings to join in on the fun this month but right now, YOU’LL want to be assigned to reading these next few pages.
A huge thank you to everyone who has read last month’s issue here and given your feedback (or should I say flattery). On behalf of the Western Sydney Law Students’ Association, I’m looking forward to collecting and preparing as many topics and as much news as possible, both internal and external, to share with what has got to be one incredibly ambitious cohort.
Forgive the flowery and elaborate language this issue (can you tell Season 4 of Bridgerton has got a hold on my writing yet?) So, Dearest Gentle Readers, if you ’ re looking for places to be, people to see or something to read this month, then you are exactly in the right place.
Hopefully you ’ re all getting back into the flow state after your first couple of weeks and ready to greet April with open arms and an open social calendar And whilst I’ve got you here, a late Eid Mubarak, Nowruz and Happy Easter to all celebrating students!
Without further ado, here is this month’s recap on what’s going on at the School of Law.

“I think, therefore I am. ” Those were the famous words quipped by French philosopher Rene Descartes. Well in that case, I think readers will be quite interested in a bit of mingling. Therefore, I am sure of such. And what better place than at the upcoming Mid-Semester Mingle on the 24 of April from 6pm-8pm at The Commercial, Parramatta, located at 2 Hassall Street, across from WSU Parramatta City Campus and the station.
What’s going to happen? Who will I meet? And what will I eat? Aside from outfits, students will be eating up free food catered to the event whilst networking and enjoying their time meeting their fellow students, professors and the team at the WSLSA We can’t wait to see you all there and soon!

Friday, March 13 , was a particularly eventful evening for students visiting Bankstown Campus around 6pm. For those of you not in the loop, let me catch you up to speed. The Western Sydney Law Students’ Association hosted their annual Grand Iftar to, from what I’ve heard, has been a tremendous success. If food is the way to a person ’ s heart, then I’m sure hearts were definitely at max capacity and feeling heavy from the charity silent auction which took place. And what a crowd of hearts there were! From industry partners to lawyers to students, alumni and law students across Sydney’s law schools, all dressed to the nines, the atmosphere was definitely enough to rival last month’s Orientation Day Missed out? We’ll be hosting again at the same time next year and cannot wait to see you by then! th

For some, you might have received an email on Thursday, March 12 , about success and professionalism moving forward in the year. These guidelines are designed to promote a sustainable and engaging learning environment and help students maximise class participation marks for those whose subjects allocate marks for class participation. For your convenience, please maintain that: th
1) You’ve successfully completed the prerequisites for your enrolled subject,
2) You’re managing your study load to reduce stress, 3) You’re attending the classes you ’ ve been allocated into, 4) Extensions are applied for in exceptional circumstances and 5) Maintaining professional classroom conduct
A sneak peek to what’s coming in next month’s issue, you have been cordially invited to have an early look at an incoming opportunity for students to apply as a Judge’s Associate for the Federal Circuit Family Court of Australia: providing legal research, supporting court operations and preparing court materials among so many other exciting tasks
Look out for an upcoming school-wide email for more details, but for now, check out these opportunities at: https://www fcfcoa gov au/careers
Thank you for having a look at this month’s issue. Hope you enjoyed reading it as much as we did
I’m going to be completely honest; I was at a loss for words for the majority of this. Partially from organising some content for May and September’s issues Fortunately, this writer’s block lasted a few hours before I could throw in a joke or two whilst still keeping this issue professional.
Now that The WSLSA Monthly is really starting to kick off, I’d like to hear more from readers on what they’d like to read moving forward... Perhaps exam study tips for our June issue?
