YOUR TOWN LAKE APOPKA EARNS DESIGNATION Lake Apopka has been designated a United Nations Environment Programme Restoration Road Trip destination. A sign announcing the designation was unveiled Monday, March 18, at Newtown Park, with Lake Apopka receiving the honor in February. The honor means Lake Apopka is recognized as a destination worthy of visiting to see effective restoration efforts in person. The UNEP has been highlighting ecological restoration efforts throughout North America since 2021.

The Southeastern Food Bank is looking for drivers to deliver about 1,200 boxes of nonperishable food and supplies to families in need in West Orange County. Volunteers are needed from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at West Orlando Baptist Church, 1006 E. Crown Point Road, Ocoee. This is the 32nd year of the Food for Families effort. To volunteer as a driver, fill out the registration form at southeasternfoodbank.com/ events or call (407) 654-7777.
