Letâs go to the beach

With the beach at the doorstep of the 23rd World Scout Jamboree, participants have the chance to try all kinds of water and beach activities while they are here. From the second you step out onto the beach, you can feel the scorch of the hot sand underfoot, even through your shoes. And when you spot the lines of grinning Scouts being hosed down by the IST, youâd know youâre at the Water Module! You might get a chance to try out sailing, wind surfing, snorkelling, rafting or fishing as well as plenty of fun beach games. The participants arrived impatient to get started. âIâm really looking forward to doing water games, swimming, beach volleyball,â said Jayant, 15, India. The variety of activities meant there was something for everyone to enjoy. By far the most popular options were the ones in the water. Chris and David, both 17 and from the USA, put it perfectly. âWeâre really looking forward to just using the water to cool off.â Marten Hovarth, 20, Hungary was running the
Volleyball activity where participants got a chance to play in teams against each other. After being split into small groups, the participants rotated roles behind the net against the other team. The winner received a keepsake token. âI love my job; the young people are really excited to come and play, which makes it fun for us.â One Scout, Nicolle, 15, from Guatemala managed to sum up the feeling on the beach perfectly. She said âIâm really enjoying just being able to play games with people from different countries and cultures.â
