STREET ADDRESS:

GENERATIONAL LEGACY

A LETTER FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CINDY O’LEARY

Welcome! That is the overarching feeling we want those who come to The HOPE Center to experience.

We know that many women who come to us for a pregnancy test and ultrasound likely begin their search online. Facing an unplanned or unexpected pregnancy, her first thoughts likely turned toward abortion. After all, Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 case that established a constitutional right to abortion, made abortion the law of the land for nearly 50 years. And even with the Supreme Court’s overturning of that decision in 2022, in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, data indicates that abortions have ticked up nationally despite drops in states like Georgia that have banned or greatly restricted the procedure.

Alarmingly, chemical abortion (The Abortion Pill) now accounts for 63% of abortions nationally, and 83% of abortions in Georgia. Our work is far from done, and a warm welcome to those who seek our services is often the “first step” toward a decision for life. Google reviews like the following affirm our success in providing such an experience: “Great experience! We were attended to by Connie and (Sonographer) Danielle; both were fantastic, friendly, and professional.”

Recognizing that not everyone needing our services will find their way to our brick and mortar location in Woodstock, we continue to provide pregnancy testing and ultrasound through our Options Medical Mobile, which serves the City of Atlanta, and we are expanding our Parenting Program for those served by the mobile team, in part with the hire of our new Atlanta Services Coordinator. We are confident that

the Lord will reveal to us the locations and partnerships He has planned for us as we walk by faith in this program expansion. We also began an outreach to the Cherokee County Jail this past year. This outreach coincided perfectly with our scripture verse for the year from Romans 12:12: “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” We are so thankful for the over 500 prayer partners that are part of our prayer text alerts.

To get a sense of God’s heart and faithfulness to and through The HOPE Center, please watch the beautiful video that shares Kim’s story. You will find it on our YouTube channel or by using the QR code provided here. What a beautiful testimony Kim shared about God’s faithfulness to her through The HOPE Center - Generational Blessings!

Join me in thanking the Lord for all He has done, and in believing Him for all He has planned for The HOPE Center ministry with the words from Psalm 27:14: “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

A Closer Look at HOPE

Serving abortion-vulnerable women for over 35 years, The HOPE Center exists to equip pregnant women to choose life, and to help families thrive in the love of Christ.

Since 1990, our ministry has expanded greatly, offering services to men, women, and the community under the umbrella of The HOPE Center. Through Options Medical Clinic, Options Medical Mobile ATL, our Parenting Program, Men of HOPE, and, of course, Seeds Thrift Boutique, we have ample support readily available for a family facing an unplanned pregnancy.

Instead of succumbing to the feeling that abortion is their only option, many women and their partners come to understand that they’ll have both support and resources if they choose to parent or make an adoption plan.

All of our services are provided at no cost to our participants thanks to your support! The HOPE Center does not receive any government funding, and relies solely on the tax-deductible donations of our generous supporters and partners.

To donate, scan the QR Code or visit SupportHopeCenter.com/Donate.

Many Services, One Mission

Our passion is for families (women, children, and men) to feel seen, heard, known, and loved from the first moment they enter our care, no matter the path they are walking . Here’s how:

• Through Options Medical Clinic and our Options Medical Mobile ATL, we offer medical services at no cost to the patient, which includes pregnancy testing, ultrasound, and options counseling. These services allow us to meet both the spiritual and practical needs of the client.

• Through our Parenting Program, we provide practical assistance, one-on-one mentorship, and education for parents from pregnancy through a child’s second birthday. “Baby Bucks” earned by program participants can be used to purchase formula, diapers, and wipes, and can be applied to purchases at Seeds.

• Through Men of HOPE, we mentor men to be strong spiritual leaders of their families and help couples strengthen their relationships through Christian principles.

• Through Seeds Thrift Boutique, the sale of quality donated clothing, baby items, furniture, and home décor contributes greatly to The HOPE Center ministry. Although open to the general public, our Parenting Program participants benefit from their ability to earn significant discounts on needed resources at Seeds.

Finding Home on a Different Road

I used to plan every aspect of every day of my life. I made grocery lists, to-do lists, budget lists, one-month lists, 5-year lists…you name it. I had my lists, my plans, my “safe” map. And then God did what only God can do—He redrew the lines.

A little boy arrived by a different road than most, and somehow it felt like the one my heart had been headed toward all along. The Bible says, “God sets the lonely in families” (Psalm 68:6). That verse quickly became a compass for me.

A BEGINNING UNLIKE ANY OTHER

Eiland’s first chapter is one no mother would choose. He was born at thirty-three weeks, into the toilet of a homeless shelter. That sentence still takes my breath away. This isn’t the way birth stories are supposed to read. Birth stories are supposed to be soft blankets and quiet rooms with warm snuggles and soft kisses. Not his. But God isn’t limited by “supposed to.” He gathers what the world calls broken and whispers, “Watch Me make this whole.” From that first impossible beginning, He was already steering us toward each other.

When I met my son, my heart recognized him the way dawn recognizes the horizon: sudden and certain. It felt familiar, like the map in my heart finally matched the road under my feet.

FINDING MY VILLAGE

When I first stepped into The HOPE Center, I was a single, independent, young woman who thought she had it all figured out, and, if I’m honest, I was pretty good at pretending that I didn’t need help. But becoming “Momma” will humble you fast. I quickly realized I needed a village. The HOPE Center became that village. I thought I was looking for information, but what I found there was community.

Because of you, donors I’d never met, there was a person waiting on the other side of the desk who said, “Take a breath; we can walk this together.” Because of you, there were classes that made the big things small and the small things sacred: how to budget one day, how to calm big feelings the next, and how to be consistent on ALL the days when I felt like I had nothing left. Because of you, there were mentors who reminded me that my calm becomes his calm and my patience becomes his peace.

WHAT YOUR SUPPORT REALLY LOOKS LIKE

Your practical help transformed our daily reality. It’s the sound of a care coordinator answering the phone at 4:00 p.m. on a Tuesday to give a mom guidance when she’s gotten no rest. It’s a mentor’s quiet room where shame gets smaller and a plan gets clearer. It’s a parenting class where someone learns that patience with boundaries isn’t softness, it’s strength with sleeves rolled up. It’s gas cards that turn good intentions into actual attendance. It’s grocery store gift cards that put food in the mouths of families and takes stress off the table. It’s clothes that fit, a stroller that works, and the small home items that turn four walls into a home that feels safe and full of love. Your giving doesn’t just fund a program; it fills a chair, keeps a light on, keeps bellies full, and writes the next line of a family’s story.

REDEFINING STRENGTH

I used to think strength meant never asking for help. Now I know real strength is showing up for a child who calls you “Mom,” and letting a community steady your hands while you do it. On my own, I could stall on my dreams. For him, I won’t. I couldn’t always do it for me, but I will always do it for him. He made me braver than I have ever been. Because of him, I lace up my shoes and keep going even when I feel beaten down and tired. Because of you, the road is lit, and I know where I’m headed.

People sometimes say, “You’re so strong.” The truth is, we are strong because we are not alone. We are threaded together with the kindness in this room. Your generosity doesn’t just “support programs.” It pulls up a chair across from a tired mother and helps her map the future.

GOD’S PERFECT TIMING

My son and I didn’t take the usual journey to come together. Our ticket home was filled with adoption forms, deadlines, tears, and days that felt uphill. But I have watched God take a story that began in

a shelter bathroom and fill it with laughter around a kitchen table. I have watched Him take a preemie who shouldn’t have had such a hard beginning and grow him into a boy who runs down hallways with joy on two feet. I have watched Him take a woman who thought she had to do everything alone and set her inside a true family. Not just the one under our roof, but the one that lives inside The HOPE Center’s walls.

A MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE

To every donor, volunteer, and staff member: thank you for believing that a child’s future is worth rearranging a budget for. Thank you for seeing families like mine not as projects, but as promises. Your giving has hands and feet. It picks us up, walks beside us, and stays long enough for us to find our stride.

We will keep going. I will finish what I started. I will take care of my health. I will build a home where my son learns he is safe and loved, that his future is wide, and that hope is not an idea, it’s a practice you can feel under your feet. And when he asks me one day how we got here, I will tell him about a God who draws

maps through wilderness, about a village called The HOPE Center, about a store named Seeds that lived up to its name – from Isaiah 61 – a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor, and about a room full of people who decided that love looks like action.

THE CONTINUING STORY

“God sets the lonely in families.” Because of you, more moms and more children will find their families. Because of you, stories that began in places we avoid talking about at dinner will end at tables where grace is said out loud. Because of you, a little boy who started life in the harshest way gets to grow up in the surest way: surrounded, steady, and HOME.

From our house to yours—thank you. May God bless you for the road you have helped us travel, and for the roads you will help others find.

Aeril shared this message at our 2025 annual banquet. Her story represents the heart of The HOPE Center’s mission and the incredible impact of our supporter’s generosity.

Melissa Ohden: A Story of Survival, Hope, and Redemption

Melissa Ohden was born a survivor. In 1977, her mother tried to abort her.

Her biological mother, Ruth, was a nineteen-yearold college student facing an unplanned pregnancy.

Pressured by her own mother—a prominent nurse in their community—to undergo an abortion, she visited an abortion clinic where they did a saline-infusion procedure.

This method involves injecting a concentrated salt solution into the uterus, usually during the second and third trimesters. The solution moves through the baby’s mouth and into her lungs, esophagus, vocal cords, and other organs. It is designed to poison and burn the baby, killing it within one to two hours (though some take longer). Labor is then induced, and the mother delivers a deceased baby.

The use of saline-induced abortions has declined significantly because of their associated health risks and a higher risk of complications.

For Melissa, it subjected her to five days of toxic exposure. Labor was repeatedly induced until she was finally delivered.

But her arrival wasn’t celebrated as a birth but dismissed as an unexpected “live birth” after a failed abortion. Medical records unflinchingly documented the failed procedure, describing her as a complication of the pregnancy. Initially, doctors believed she had a fatal heart defect due to the intense fetal distress caused by the abortion attempt.

Even after her birth, Melissa’s grandmother insisted she be left to die. But one compassionate NICU nurse refused to comply. Instead, she rushed Melissa to intensive care, demonstrating the profound impact of one person’s courage and commitment to life.

A LIFE OF GRACE AND PURPOSE

Reflecting on her life, Melissa openly admits that she doesn’t believe God intended abortion to be part of her story. “God is the Creator of life,” she says, acknowledging that it was human intervention that introduced such pain and brokenness into her life. And yet, Melissa’s faith informs her understanding that God rewrote the story of her life, transforming it into one full of grace, redemption, and purpose.

Her survival is not just a medical anomaly—it’s a platform to protect the lives of the innocent. Melissa now dedicates her life to helping others understand the lasting impact of abortion, not just on the unborn but also on families and relationships. Her mission is clear: to foster healing and restore a culture of life through truth, love, and reconciliation.

THE GENERATIONAL IMPACT OF ABORTION

For Melissa, the ramifications of abortion extend far beyond the immediate termination of a pregnancy.

“Abortion doesn’t just end a life most of the time,” she explains, “it impacts relationships and families for generations.” This truth is evident in her own story: her biological mother’s trauma, her grandmother’s role in the abortion decision, and the ripple effects that continue to shape their family dynamic.

By sharing her experiences, Melissa highlights the importance of addressing not only the physical but also the emotional and spiritual wounds caused by abortion. She advocates for families to seek healing together, breaking cycles of pain and promoting a culture that values life at every stage.

“ Even after her birth, Melissa’s grandmother insisted she be left to die. But one compassionate NICU nurse refused to comply.”

A MESSAGE OF HOPE

Melissa’s story is one of survival and hope. To mothers facing unplanned pregnancies or considering abortion, she offers a clear and compassionate message: “There is hope for you and your child, even after an attempted abortion. You aren’t alone.”

Her words resonate deeply, especially for those who feel trapped by their circumstances. Melissa’s life is proof that even in the darkest situations, there is the possibility of redemption and new beginnings. Her journey inspires others to embrace life, even when it seems impossible, and to trust that healing and forgiveness are within reach.

ADVOCACY THROUGH THE ABORTION SURVIVORS NETWORK

As the founder of the Abortion Survivors Network,

Melissa has created a community for people like herself— individuals who have survived abortion attempts and are searching for understanding, connection, and purpose. The network not only amplifies their stories but also provides resources for healing and advocacy.

Through her work, Melissa sheds light on a rarely discussed aspect of the abortion debate: the survivors. Their existence challenges assumptions and invites deeper reflection on the sanctity of life and the long-term consequences of abortion.

A CALL TO ACTION

Melissa’s life is a call to action for a world that too often dismisses the value of the unborn. Her story urges us to consider the far-reaching implications of our choices and the importance of compassion and courage in standing up for life.

It’s also a reminder that healing is possible, even after unimaginable pain. Melissa’s faith, resilience, and dedication to helping others demonstrate that brokenness can be transformed into beauty when we trust in God’ higher purpose.

Peace of Mind

"My high-risk pregnancy could have turned out much differently. Without the experience and care I received at Cherokee Women's Health, my little boy would not be the thriving little bundle of joy he is right now!"

CONCLUSION

Melissa Ohden’s story is one of survival against all odds, but it’s also so much more. It’s a story of grace—of how a life that began in tragedy can become a beacon of hope and redemption. She reminds us that every life has value and that healing is possible for families impacted by abortion.

Melissa’s life challenges us to see beyond the immediate circumstances and to recognize the profound potential for transformation, no matter how broken the beginning. Her voice, and the voices of others like her, are a powerful testament to the importance of protecting life and fostering a culture of love, forgiveness, and hope.

This article is based on Melissa’s personal account from the Abortion Survivors Network. For more details about her story and her advocacy work, visit Melissa’s Story https://abortionsurvivors.org/melissas-story/.

The Truth About the Abortion Pill

New Study Highlights Serious Risks

As a prenatal surgeon, my patients are tiny. No matter how small they are, they are always alive. They have different DNA from their moms. They have different blood types. They even have very different medical conditions, some that require surgery. To operate on one of these tiny patients requires different anesthesia for the mom and the baby.

What most people fail to realize is that any time you take one of these lives through abortion, the risk of complications is very real. That’s partly because we’ve been told that abortion, particularly the abortion pill, which accounts for over 60% of abortions now, is safe. But a new study is showing that the risks of the abortion

pill are much higher than we’ve been led to believe.

This groundbreaking study, published by the Charlotte Lozier Institute and based on data from one of the largest private insurance claims databases in the United States, reveals that 1 in 10 women who take the abortion pill experiences a serious adverse event. These events range from hemorrhaging and infections to the need for surgical intervention. This evidence tells a much different story than the medical establishment has revealed about the abortion pill. This story raises serious concerns about the health and well-being of the women who turn to this procedure.

THE REALITY OF ABORTION PILLS

The abortion pill, also known as a chemical abortion, involves two drugs: mifepristone and misoprostol. Together, these drugs terminate a pregnancy by first blocking the hormone progesterone, which is essential for sustaining the pregnancy, and then inducing contractions to expel the fetus.

This data reveals that this method carries significant risks that are too often downplayed by the abortion industry.

The study examined over 400,000 confirmed abortions and found that serious complications occurred in 10.6% of women who used the abortion pill. To put that in perspective, this means that approximately 1 in every 10 women who take these pills faces a serious health issue. What’s more, the numbers could be much higher, as the abortion industry has told women who have complications to tell the emergency room staff that they are having a miscarriage. Many of these women are not

For years, advocates of the abortion pill have assured women that it is a simple and safe procedure. But the

study shows that women undergoing chemical abortions are 53% more likely to experience an emergency room

This is especially concerning because the abortion pill is increasingly being prescribed without the safeguard of an in-person medical evaluation. In some cases, the pills are even sent through the mail, with no ultrasound to confirm gestational age or rule out dangerous conditions

outside the uterus. These practices not only increase the risk of complications but also leave women vulnerable to receiving inadequate care when something goes wrong.

the most common complications. For some women, intervention, blood transfusions, or emergency care. Incomplete Abortions: The abortion pill is not

always effective in expelling all the pregnancy tissue, leading to infections or other complications that often necessitate surgical follow-up.

3. Infections: Retained tissue or incomplete abortions can result in severe infections, including sepsis, putting women’s health—and sometimes their lives—at risk.

4. Emotional Trauma: While this study focused on physical risks, it’s worth noting that chemical abortions can also have profound psychological effects. Many women are unprepared for the physical pain, emotional distress, and isolation that often accompany this procedure.

Here are the raw numbers. Remember, each of these numbers represents at least two people, the mom and the baby:

• Ectopic pregnancy: 3,062

• Infections (including sepsis): 12,531

• emorrhage: 28,658

• ER visits: 40,960

• Other complications: 49,169

THE RISK TO WOMEN’S HEALTH

Every medical intervention carries some level of risk, but the risks associated with the abortion pill are particularly troubling because they are often understated or ignored. Women deserve to know the truth about what they are signing up for, but the abortion industry has a history of prioritizing its agenda over transparency.

The idea that abortion pills are “safe and easy” is not only misleading—it’s dangerous. When women don’t fully understand the risks, they are less likely to seek help promptly when complications arise. Delays in care can turn manageable complications into life-threatening emergencies.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR WOMEN

As a physician, my commitment is to do no harm. That

commitment extends to the women who experience the consequences of abortion. The data from this study is a wake-up call about the abortion pill’s true risks. Women deserve better than a system that downplays serious complications and leaves them to deal with the aftermath on their own.

This study also underscores the importance of policies that prioritize women’s health and safety over political agendas. Informed consent is a cornerstone of medical ethics, but can women truly give informed consent if they are not told the whole truth about the risks?

The abortion pill is often promoted as a solution, but the reality is that it creates more problems than it solves . It’s not just the unborn who suffer—it’s the women who are misled into thinking this is a safe, easy choice .

THE BIGGER PICTURE

For me, as a prenatal surgeon, every life is precious, no matter how small. But this is not just about the unborn— it’s about the women who carry them. For years, the abortion industry has criticized the pro-life movement as uncaring toward mothers. However, this study reveals who is truly disregarding women’s well-being. Women deserve compassionate care that protects their physical and emotional well-being.

The abortion pill is often promoted as a solution, but the reality is that it creates more problems than it solves. It’s not just the unborn who suffer—it’s the women who are misled into thinking this is a safe, easy choice, only to find themselves in a medical or emotional crisis.

He has been an instructor for both the University of Florida and Florida State University, OB/GYN residency programs. He is the former chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL.

A CALL TO ACTION

The findings of this study should compel us all—medical professionals, policymakers, and society at large—to take a hard look at the way abortion pills are marketed and prescribed. Women deserve better than a system that puts their health at risk while hiding behind the guise of “choice.”

As a physician, I urge women to ask questions, seek second opinions, and demand the truth about the risks they face. As a society, we must do more to protect women from the dangers of chemical abortion.

Life matters—both the life of the unborn child and the life of the mother. It’s time we started acting like it.

Faithful Provision

Clinic Director’s Reflection on Growth and God’s Provision

I have been the Clinic Director for over three years now. It has been a privilege and a blessing to oversee the daily operations of both the clinic and the mobile unit. It has not come without its challenges. However, seeing how God has worked through each of our volunteers and staff to help equip pregnant women to choose life, and to see how God is showing up and providing for our operational needs has been both a blessing and a walk in faith.

This last year and a half has been especially challenging when it comes to staffing. In the midst of long-term medical leaves for some of my staff, God has provided in creative ways to grow the Options Medical Clinic team, particularly on the mobile unit. At one point in time, the mobile team consisted of only 3-4 staff members (2 sonographers and 2 advocates) that covered 3-5 days a week. Then, in the summer of 2024, we added two new

team members to our new Wednesday location, which has been steadily growing in patient volume over the last year. On occasion, other staff members would rotate in, like myself and the Clinic Operations Coordinator, when one of our mobile staff members were unable to come in to work. When one advocate had to step away for several months for personal reasons, others stepped up who perhaps wouldn’t have before. One of those people is a volunteer mentor and advocate who has served for the last three and a half years.

Another is the Communications Specialist at The HOPE Center. After some prayer, she decided to join the Mobile as an advocate on Mondays. With the original advocate gradually returning to her role, working one day a week at the moment, it has been so neat to see God provide a different advocate for each day of the week: the

(Front Row – L to R) Catharine, Krista, Kim, and Dawn (Back Row – L to R) Deanna, Angie, Tobhiyah, Amanda, and Danielle

Communications Specialist on Mondays, the Volunteer Advocate on Tuesdays, one of the new team members on Wednesdays, and the returning advocate on Thursdays.

Each new advocate to the Mobile has fallen in love with the community they are serving each week, and God is providing sonographer-advocate teams for each day. That helps to create a tight bond between the two working together, and allows the Holy Spirit to move in mighty ways. The beautiful thing is that most everyone on the mobile team is also connected to the Clinic/Center in some capacity, which connects the Mobile to the rest of the ministry in a beautiful way that wasn’t fully realized in years past.

With the surprise departure of a sonographer who had faithfully served for over three years, God graciously allowed a new RDMS sonographer to join us in the Clinic and on the Mobile. When I first met this new team member two years ago, she was looking at moving back to Woodstock, GA from South Carolina but wasn’t sure on the timeline yet. She had her husband’s retirement from the Coast Guard to consider in her timeline. When they finally landed in Woodstock, Georgia after having met her a year prior, all sonographer spots were filled. But in God’s perfect timing, when I reached out again when

we had a vacancy, she was ready and available to join the team! She has been such a blessing to have in the short time we’ve had her, and I am believing God has great things in store having her as part of our team.

To wrap up, I wanted to share two brief patient testimonials that involve abortion pill reversals, as that has been the theme of my articles in the last two Because of HOPE magazines.

This last year, a family doctor in our area who recently joined the Abortion Pill Reversal Network, reached out to us to inquire about Options Medical Clinic being a place she can refer patients in the area that call the Abortion Pill Reversal hotline and need an ultrasound to confirm that the pregnancy is still viable. She would prescribe the progesterone (the abortion pill reversal medication), contact me, and we would set up an appointment with the patient for the ultrasound. She has called us twice already this year, and we successfully connected with a patient who is now happy to parent, and whose pregnancy is going well.

Another patient, who took the abortion pill at around five weeks gestation, never had any bleeding and was still testing positive when I checked on her a month later. When she came in for an ultrasound, she had a healthy nine-week baby. We prescribed her progesterone, and she is doing well and is embracing choosing life for this child and parenting. While their stories are still unfolding, it is miraculous to see how God is working in and through the work we do at Options Medical Clinic and on the Mobile. Women can feel so seen, heard, known, and loved that even when they choose abortion, many of them trust us enough to want to come back to us.

Now THAT is a beautiful gift, and a testimony to the culture of God’s love that is shown here at The HOPE Center!

From Reluctance to Joy: A Mobile Ministry Journey

For three and a half years, I have been blessed to serve as both a mentor and advocate at The HOPE Center. If someone had told me when I first started volunteering that I would one day be passionate about mobile ministry, I would have politely disagreed. The truth is, I had no desire whatsoever to join the mobile outreach. However, when I recently began earnestly praying about my schedule, the Lord began stirring something unexpected in my heart regarding this ministry.

Within just one week of those prayers, the clinic director approached me with a question: would I be willing to help on the Options Medical Mobile during a day when they were short-staffed? Without hesitation, my answer was an enthusiastic yes. Since that pivotal moment, the Lord has continued opening doors for me to serve on the Mobile multiple times, and through this experience, I’ve discovered something truly beautiful.

TWO MINISTRIES, ONE HEART

When we drove into the heart of Atlanta to serve, I quickly realized there were two powerful ministries happening simultaneously: one reaching the women who come into our mobile unit, and another extending to the homeless community in the surrounding area. The women who visit our Mobile don’t seem as guarded as one might expect. The Holy Spirit seems to lower the natural defenses that would typically be present in such vulnerable situations. His presence is tangible within the Mobile, and these women feel genuine love flowing through us as we serve as vessels for Christ’s love.

This atmosphere of divine grace opens incredible doors for us to share His love for both them and the precious babies they carry, as well as God’s beautiful plan for life. We have witnessed several abortion-minded women completely transform their perspectives by the time they leave the Mobile. There have also been numerous opportunities to point them toward Christ and share the gospel with those who don’t yet know Him personally.

As women begin to include Christ in their decision to choose life and trust in His provision, we have wonderful opportunities to introduce them to our parenting program. We assure them they don’t have to navigate this journey alone—we will walk alongside them through the entire process. Our thriving virtual parenting program ensures these clients receive the same comprehensive benefits and support as those who visit our brick and mortar location in Woodstock.

Our outreach to the homeless community involves distributing food and water, along with

clothing, shoes, and blankets. Some of the same individuals visit us weekly, and we’ve been able to demonstrate Christ’s love while building meaningful relationships. Often, we even have opportunities to pray with these precious people, offering them hope beyond their immediate physical needs.

A MINISTRY I ALMOST MISSED

I am profoundly grateful that God placed this calling on my heart, even when my initial response was reluctance. The mobile ministry has proven to be wonderfully fruitful, and I’m thankful I didn’t miss out on what He had planned for me through this service.

What started as reluctance became obedience, and obedience became joy. This journey has reminded me that God’s plans are always better than our own, and sometimes the ministries we resist most strongly are the very ones where we’ll find our greatest purpose and fulfillment.

“ This atmosphere of divine grace opens incredible doors for us to share His love for both them and the precious babies they carry, as well as God’s beautiful plan for life.”

Practical Help With Eternal Impact: HOPE Expanding in Atlanta

For over 35 years, The HOPE Center has been a beacon of light for women and men facing unplanned pregnancies. Through our office in Woodstock, mobile clinic, and virtual parenting program, we have faithfully served by offering compassion, resources, and the empowering message that choosing life leads to a future filled with hope.

(L to R) Shannon, Mobile client and Dina, Atlanta Services Coordinator

We have walked alongside countless families, equipping them not only to choose life, but to thrive in the love of Christ.

Now, God is calling us to expand our reach even further and serve more families in need throughout the metro Atlanta area, and I am humbled to serve as the newly appointed Atlanta Services Coordinator. In this role, I connect families across Metro Atlanta to the life-changing services of The HOPE Center. Currently, our services are offered virtually—reaching families where they are—until the Lord opens the door for us to establish a central location in the heart of Atlanta.

MEETING FAMILIES WHERE THEY ARE

Through our Options Medical Mobile Clinic, women receive free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds—often their very first glimpse of hope in the midst of uncertainty. When a mother chooses life for her child, we walk with her every step of the journey.

Through our Virtual Parenting Program, mothers are paired with mentors who provide emotional, practical, and spiritual support throughout pregnancy and until the child’s second birthday. These services are also extended to fathers through our Men of HOPE Program, because we believe strong fathers are vital to strong families.

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS, NOT JUST PROGRAMS

This is more than mentorship—it’s relationship. Families in our program not only receive consistent encouragement but also earn “Baby Bucks” by participating in mentoring sessions and completing BrightCourse parenting videos on a variety of subjects for growth and life application. Their Baby Bucks can be redeemed for diapers, wipes, and other essentials generously supplied through donor support.

It’s practical help with eternal impact.

CREATING A NETWORK OF SUPPORT

As Atlanta Services Coordinator, I am committed to building partnerships with churches and ministries to create a supportive network that helps mothers and fathers find stability, meet their goals, and experience the transforming love of Christ. I am also dedicated to training and equipping mentors to love well, serve generously, and lead faithfully.

This is more than a program—it’s a movement—of HOPE. Together, we are building a legacy of life—one mother, one father, one baby, and one family at a time.

Nurtured

Supporting Moms From the Start and Into the Journey of Parenthood

The Women of HOPE Parenting Program is designed to walk alongside women through every stage of pregnancy and parenting. Whether the pregnancy was unplanned or long-awaited, we consider it a joy and privilege to be part of each woman’s unique journey. Our program is intentionally shaped to meet moms where they are, caring for their hearts, nurturing their faith, and equipping them with practical tools for parenting.

At the heart of it all is a beautiful team of volunteers. This collaborative effort includes our mentors, greeters, and behind-the-scenes data entry helpers. Together, they create a Christcentered space filled with encouragement, guidance, and HOPE.

Our volunteer mentors are truly the hands and feet of Jesus. Spirit-led and full of compassion, they

(L to R) Amy, Women’s Services Coordinator, and Melissa, HOPE Center client

selflessly give their time and wisdom. Week after week, they help build a safe, caring space where moms can grow, heal, and experience the love of Christ.

Our greeters are often the first friendly face a client sees, or the first reassuring voice they hear on the

phone. They ease anxieties and help clients feel at home, often getting to know them (and their babies) by name.

And while they might not always be seen, our data entry volunteers are vital. They help with scheduling, scanning, and organizing data so the program runs smoothly. It may be behind-thescenes, but their work has a front-line impact!

Together, this team creates a nurturing environment where clients feel seen, heard, and deeply loved.

We’ve expanded our program beyond our Options Medical clients. Any pregnant woman in the

community is welcome to join, and so are their partners, spouses, or support people. (Yes, we’ve even had a dog or two in the waiting room!) Clients are eligible to participate until their child’s second birthday.

For those who want to stay beyond that, we offer Thriving Families, a continuation program with mentorship and online classes, though without material incentives. Topics include parenting beyond the toddler years, finances, co-parenting, and spiritual growth. Helping families thrive goes well beyond diapers and bottles!

HOW THE PARENTING PROGRAM SUPPORTS FAMILIES

Our Parenting Program is built around four core pillars:

EMOTIONAL CONNECTION: Clients are paired with a mentor who meets with them regularly. This relationship offers a safe space to share life’s ups and downs, receive guidance, and feel truly seen and supported. Many moms say this connection is one of the most meaningful parts of the program.

SPIRITUAL GROWTH: Some of our clients come in without a relationship with God, but through the love and care they receive, many begin to explore questions of faith. In a safe, welcoming environment, they are free to ask questions, engage in prayer, receive Jesus, and take steps toward spiritual growth at their own pace.

PRACTICAL NEEDS : Through class participation and mentorship, clients earn Baby Bucks, which they can use to “purchase” essentials such as diapers, wipes, formula—and even big items like a crib and a car seat. Clients are able to use their Baby Bucks at our Seeds Thrift Boutique. It’s a

beautiful way to reward commitment while helping meet tangible needs.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES

Working together with our Community Care Coordinator, our Parenting Program strives to meet the various needs of clients, collaborating with various church groups and community services. We endeavor to round out our program ensuring our moms and families thrive in the love of Christ.

Here is how Karla, a Parenting Program participant, expressed her appreciation:

“There are no words to express the fullness of what the Parenting Program meant to me and my family. The HOPE Center and Parenting Program gave me a safe place to learn about being a good momma and wife. The security I felt from getting diapers and wipes etc. throughout the program was

wonderful, but the relationships I made with each mentor was so special it brings tears to my eyes. The HOPE Center is a blessing and I am so grateful for it!”

At the Women of HOPE Parenting Program, we believe that every mother deserves support, not just for the physical journey of pregnancy, but for her heart, her faith, and her future.

Through compassionate mentoring, spiritual encouragement, and practical assistance, we walk with her each step of the way. Because when a woman knows she is loved and not alone, she is empowered to face motherhood with courage, dignity, and HOPE.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” — Proverbs 31:25 (NLT)

Ministering to Fathers

At The HOPE Center, our Men of HOPE Fatherhood Program exists to be a light to families by educating men to become great fathers. We offer practical support to fathers by encouraging them to work through the trauma they’ve experienced in their lives while stepping up to the responsibility fatherhood requires.

When we picture someone facing an unplanned pregnancy, our minds often go first to the needs of the mother. Her fears. Her questions. Her hopes. Her pressures. But there’s another person who is deeply impacted by this circumstance: the father. Men also face sleepless nights and heavy decisions during the early days after learning they will be a dad. Some are excited, others are overwhelmed. Many feel unprepared, unsure of what role to play, and uncertain how to support the mother while also processing their own emotions.

One of the most overlooked aspects of an unplanned pregnancy is how often the father’s perspective is left

out of the decision to parent or to abort. Too many men stay silent out of fear, uncertainty, or a desire to “let her decide,” without realizing that their voice can bring clarity and strength to the mother. A loving steady voice saying, “I will be here for you and our child,” can be the lifeline a woman needs to choose life.

Where women may be more likely to seek counseling or attend support groups during pregnancy, many men internalize their emotions. Some never had a role model of a godly father or even worse, carry a father-wound from an abusive or absent father. This emotional weight often goes unseen, yet it can deeply affect a man’s long-term spiritual, relational, and mental well-being. If we want to see healthy families form around every new life, we cannot afford to ignore the fathers. At The HOPE Center, our calling is not only to advocate for the life of the unborn child, but also to minister to everyone involved – including the fathers.

The HOPE Center’s Men of HOPE program offers in-person and virtual parenting programs with curriculum tailored for new and not-so-new fathers. These cover topics like helping the mother during

Saving lives

ONE CUP AT A TIME

and after the birth, baby care, communication, and nurturing a man’s spiritual leadership role in the family. Every man joining our Men of HOPE program is mentored by a Christian man who walks alongside a new dad, offering encouragement, prayer, and accountability. The power of “you’re not alone” cannot be overstated.

Inviting men into this journey affirms his value and helps him to embrace his role as the father. We remind men that fatherhood is not a mistake or an accident –it is a calling. Psalm 127:3 reminds us that “children are a heritage from the Lord.” Helping men to see themselves as chosen for this role can transform fear into resolve.

Men don’t need all the answers before they can be good fathers. They need reassurance that they can grow into the role with God’s help. In our Men of HOPE program, we seek to be present with them through their journey, speaking hope, providing tools and resources, and calling out the courage they already have inside. When fathers understand the important role they play in the life of the child and the mother, families have the potential to flourish. Children feel secure. Mothers feel supported. And fathers feel confident to lead their families with a profound sense of purpose and lasting legacy.

Seeds Thrift Boutique Where Treasure Hunting Meets Purpose

I come from a long line of thrifters. My grandmother was a thrifter, my mother is a thrifter, and nothing excites my son more than color sale Monday at our local 501(c)(3). The thrill of the hunt and the ecstasy of telling everyone about my $5 upscale, brand-name dress is simply too tempting to contain. Can anyone relate?

So imagine my excitement when my mother took me to Seeds Thrift Boutique and introduced me to the Holy Grail of thrift stores. In fact, the store is so unique that it doesn’t even resemble the thrift stores you might traditionally patronize. Seeds has singlehandedly changed my expectations for what I look for in the perfect shopping destination.

AN EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER

As you enter, it becomes apparent that this will be an experience unlike any other. Soothing, spa-like music with uplifting messages exudes a peace you didn’t realize you were craving. The friendly “hello” as you cross the threshold tells you that you are welcomed and appreciated. Messages of encouragement on the walls, complete with prayer tags for all who want to participate, inspire and beckon you to connect with something greater.

Yes, even in a thrift store.

MORE THAN JUST SHOPPING

By now you may have suspected that Seeds isn’t just a thrift store—it’s a lifeline for seekers of assurance, faith, and fortitude. What began as a baby store offering expectant mothers new and gently used baby

items at reduced prices has developed into a treasure trove of anything and everything you need (and didn’t know you needed). From kitchenware and antiques to jewelry, clothing, and everything in between, Seeds has just about everything you can imagine. You can also shop knowing that funds generated from Seeds support The HOPE Center and their mission to inform young mothers about the gift of life.

However, this isn’t a thrift store that sells low-quality items or things that have been a little too well-loved. Seeds employees ensure they’re offering high-end brands, in-demand décor, and necessities we all use and enjoy—at prices lower than you’ll usually find elsewhere. Being the penny-pincher that I am, I always

look for a deal, yet there’s no need to search when you’re at Seeds. Items are priced to always give you a bargain without the endless hours of hunting.

A SHOPPING SUCCESS STORY

My latest experience at Seeds resulted in three dresses, two blouses, three pairs of earrings, and a necklace for less than the cost of one cute top at the mall. I was so thrilled that I completely neglected the home décor side of the boutique as post-shopping exhilaration took hold.

At Seeds, you can always find brand new items that are perfect as gifts or keepsakes. You may even encounter that elusive item you’ve been scouring the city for since you saw it years ago, or discover a piece that inspires a complete home décor overhaul.

A SHINING LIGHT IN THE COMMUNITY

Come for the shopping, or simply for the uplifting

feeling of being in an inspiring space supported by people who share a common goal: to do the most good. Seeds is a shining star in Woodstock and continues to be a source of hope and inspiration to all who enter its doors.

Partners in Ministry

As Community Care Coordinator, one of the joys of my role is finding like-minded ministries with people who want to come alongside us to minister to families who are questioning whether they can provide a healthy home for their child or children.

After all, how can we as a Christian community say “don’t abort your baby” and not be there to encourage, support, and help them navigate life

after the child is born? For them, it’s a lifetime commitment. For us at The HOPE Center, it is our privilege to walk with them for the two-plus years they are in our Parenting Program. Our goal is for them to finish their time with us feeling stronger and more capable of providing a healthy family environment. We also hope that they become an active part of a local church community.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church at the 2025 Walk for Life

We have recently implemented Personal Growth Evaluations as a proactive tool to identify areas for improvement before they escalate into critical issues. This streamlined, one-page assessment enables mentors to facilitate meaningful dialogue with clients through targeted questions across four key domains: Basic Needs, Personal Care, Finance & Support, and Children’s Needs. The evaluation process has proven highly effective in helping clients recognize opportunities for positive change and develop actionable strategies that, when implemented over time, strengthen their family’s foundation and overall stability.

We want to show our clients that Jeremiah 29:11 is true when God says, “I know the plans I have for you (and your child), they are good plans says the Lord. They are plans to give you a future and a hope.” It takes more than just The HOPE Center to make this happen. It’s a community effort, and The HOPE Center has been blessed with several new ministry partners this past year.

Goshen Therapeutic Services has a thriving ministry in Canton, providing licensed counseling services in addition to its foster care work. They have opened up the opportunity for our clients to be referred for counseling. They also have extensive knowledge of DFCS, from which our clients can benefit. Since many of our clients have emotional issues or traumatic situations that require professional assistance, Goshen has been a wonderful asset to our clients who struggle with emotional and traumatic issues.

Must Ministries has partnered with us and is proving to be a great asset to our clients. They have a temporary housing facility and can also provide hotel vouchers if needed. But the biggest area of help has come from their Work Force ministry. We can send them a referral to the Work Force program, and they will make contact and enrollment with the client who

is seriously seeking to find a job. The Work Force Program has a very high rate of success for those who complete the program. Several of our clients have been able to get valuable training, which will lead to better jobs as a result of this partnership.

Serenade Heights has been one of our trusted referral partners for single mothers for over twenty years. Recognizing that housing has become one of the primary challenges facing single mothers today, we have deepened our partnership with Serenade Heights to connect our pre-screened clients with their mentoring and transitional housing program.

“Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance.”
Colossians 3:12

Currently, we are sponsoring one client and have another working through the application process. This partnership represents a valuable resource that we are grateful to offer our clients.

The HOPE Center has been so blessed through the years to partner with many individuals and ministries. It would be hard to name them all and give them the recognition they all deserve. Life Initiatives and Values (LI-V) out of First Baptist Church of Woodstock, Affordable Adoptions of Georgia, Covenant Care Adoption Agency, From Lamb to Lion Ministry post-abortion healing, The Mom Community, Lifeline Adoption, Embrace Grace, and many local churches. They have all been used this past year to make a huge difference in the lives of the families God has allowed us to serve, and we are so grateful!

Volunteers: Our Unsung Heroes

If you’ve ever walked through the doors of The HOPE Center, you’ve likely seen what I get to witness every day — the quiet, faithful work of volunteers who show up not for praise, but for purpose.

As the Volunteer Coordinator, I have the unique privilege of seeing the true heartbeat of our ministry up close. It’s not found in our programs or even in our building — it’s found in the people who give their

time, talents, and hearts to serve women, men, and families facing unplanned pregnancies.

Our volunteers aren’t just helping; they are ministering. Whether it’s a receptionist answering the phone with grace, a mentor sitting quietly with a parent, or someone sorting baby clothes in the back of Seeds Thrift Boutique — each one reflects God’s love to those we serve.

(L to R) Jerry, Seeds Store Manager; with Seeds Volunteers, Kathy, Annalena, and Kelly .

For our volunteers, these aren’t just tasks, these are sacred moments.

I’ve seen volunteers pray with clients through tears, celebrate life-saving decisions, and walk alongside women who feel completely alone. Every act of service, no matter how small, becomes part of a bigger story — a story of redemption, HOPE, and life.

We are deeply grateful for each volunteer who serves across this ministry — in administration, mentoring, fatherhood coaching, outreach, data entry, donation repair, and building maintenance. They do it all with humility, joy, and an unwavering heart to serve. Their faithfulness is what makes The HOPE Center possible.

When challenges come, whether it’s a packed schedule or an urgent need, it’s our volunteers who step in, carry the load, and ask, “How can I help?” They are real people making real sacrifices to make a real impact.

Many of them have jobs, families, and full lives. They don’t serve because they have extra time, they serve because they’ve made God’s mission of equipping women to choose life a priority. Every heartbeat. Every client. Every story. They know this work matters for eternity.

I think of the off-duty nurse who offers pregnancy tests with warmth and dignity. The young mom who finds childcare so she can sort baby clothes for moms in need. The man who faithfully mentors new fathers, helping to break generational cycles.

THESE ARE ORDINARY PEOPLE DOING EXTRAORDINARY MINISTRY.

If you are wondering whether you could serve — the answer is yes. You don’t need a perfect background or special credentials. Just a willing heart. We’ll train you. We’ll walk with you. And I promise — you’ll never be the same.

Serving here is not easy. It’s emotional, spiritual, and stretching. But it is deeply, eternally rewarding. I’ve seen volunteers grow in faith, compassion, and confidence. I’ve seen God use them in powerful, unexpected ways.

To our current volunteers: Thank you. You are the hands and feet of Jesus. You bring life, light, and love to every person who enters our doors. You aren’t just helping — you are transforming lives.

To those considering volunteering: We need you. Our clients need you. There is a place for you here — and we’d be honored to serve alongside you.

I’ll leave you with the words of one of our mobile advocate volunteer mentors: “Remember, you may be the only Jesus some people ever meet.”
