From 2 Rice Street A reminder that Men’s Twilite on Tuesdays has finished for the year, so Tuesday afternoons are open for play. Come out and take advantage of the beautiful fall playing conditions! On Tuesday’s lunch will be served until 5:00pm and the bar will remain open until the last players are off the course. There is no dinner service on Tuesdays. Our golf course is our biggest asset and as members of the club, you are owners. Treat the club facilities as an owner should. Our culture is to take care of the facilities and leave them in better shape than when you arrive. Some simple ways you can help: • Bunkers – be sure to rake bunkers every time you enter one. This is one area that may not be done each day. • Divots – replace them (preferred) or fill with sand. With cooler temperatures, divots will grow back quickly if replaced and weeds will not germinate. • Ball Marks – repair yours every time. If you did not hit the green, find one or two to fix while you are waiting to putt. Reminder that you may hit the front of the green, and your ball rolls off the back. Check the front of the green for marks. •
Practice Range – Please clean balls of the chipping green after you are finished and rake the practice bunker. Leave the practice area in better condition than you found it.
• Pace of Play – Reminder of our 4-hour pace of play policy. Staff do their best to monitor pace, but you are responsible for your group’s pace. Please pay attention to your pace. • Dress Code – A reminder that Men’s shirts must be always tucked in. Please ensure your guests are aware. • Cell Phones – Noticing more cell phone usage on the course and in member areas that are not appropriate. Please limit cell phone usage to locker rooms and parking lots. Cell phone usage is not appropriate on the golf course, practice facilities, patio, clubhouse or bar. Please remind your guests of this policy. Holiday Parties – Now is the time to book your Holiday Party at the club! Contact Ryan Perkins, perkinsr@worcestercc.org to book and plan. The CENTENNIALCELEBRATION of the
RYDER CUP Dear Worcester CC Members, The Centennial Celebration of the 1st Ryder Cup is less than a year away. As you know, the 1st was held here at our club! No other club can say, “We hosted the first Ryder Cup.” WCC formed a committee in 2021 to create this event and make it an extra special event to honor the history of this event and showcase the club and our rich history. The committee has been collaborating with Moortown Golf Club, the 2nd Ryder Cup sight in Great Britain, on creating an event template that future clubs can use to celebrate their centennial. All clubs worldwide that have hosted the Ryder Cup have been invited to attend and bring four players to compete in a Ryder Cup formatted event to be played over the historic links of Worcester CC. One club will take home the overall trophy, which will be competed for every two years. Past Ryder Cup Captains have been invited to play a Ryder Cup formatted exhibition at our club. The captains we have spoken to so far are excited about the event and the Centennial Celebration. More exciting details to come on this. The PGA of America and Ryder Cup Europe have joined in, and the event is gaining momentum! Beginner Mahjong Lessons - 2 Session Series September 30th & October 7th 6-8pm
New to Mahjong? Our beginner lessons are designed to make learning fun, relaxed, and easy to follow. Session 1: Learn the basics - tiles, the Charleston, reading the card, and the flow of the game. Session 2: Build confidence through guided play while practicing strategies, calling tiles, and completing hands. Lessons are taught in small, friendly groups, giving everyone plenty of time to ask questions and practice. By the end of the series, you'll be ready to play and enjoy the game with others! $125 for 2 - 2 hr Lessons. Everything is supplied by our certified instructor, Jackie Eagle.
