By Amy Elizabeth Berry
Build strong partnerships that fuel student motivation and drive their learning Humans are social creatures, yet schools don’t always embrace the way social interactions and connections can facilitate learning. Likewise, student engagement has become a buzzword, but what does it really mean? Despite decades of research and initiatives, student engagement continues to decline as learners progress through the school years.
In her new book, Amy Berry argues that the key lies in partnership. She challenges the traditional view of engagement as a top-down process and reframes it as a collaborative effort between students, teachers, and peers. Filled with student and teacher voices, this guidebook provides a new, more empathetic way to think about and tackle the persistent challenge of student disengagement.
This book provides: * The all-new Continuum of Learner Engagement, a practical tool for developing a shared language around engagement and disengagement, * Evidence-based strategies for building effective engagement partnerships, * Actionable tips for cultivating a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and empowered to drive their own learning, * A strengths-based approach to understanding and addressing the root causes of disengagement, * Learn how to empower children and young people with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively drive their learning and growth not only in schools, but also throughout their lives.

By Amy Elizabeth Berry
When you reimagine student engagement, you'll see your students as true agents of their own learning and provide them with the motivational resources that fuel collaboration and school success.
"Amy Berry's work on engagement has been nothing short of transformative for me. She has transformed our understanding by moving us forward from its psychological roots to its classroom expressions. The engagement continuum, and most importantly, the teaching that accompanies it, are changing students' relationships with learning and with their teacher. This book is a gold mine for every caring educator who is looking for ways to redefine what schooling looks like. Let's stop relying on low-level compliance as a measure. This is a road map for truly partnering with students." Nancy Frey
"Engagement is not an either/or situation. In this book, Amy Berry describes a continuum of engagement that can be taught to students so that they can monitor and adjust the choices they make to engage. As students learn to drive their leaning, they become active agents in their education and develop strong self-regulation strategies. In doing so, they learn more and better and are able to reach the high expectations they, their families, and educators have for them." Doug Fisher, PhD

Challenging Gender Stereotypes in Schools
By Mike Keys
Why are just 1 in 7 primary teachers male?
Developed from the Men Teach Primary network; this thoughtprovoking book explores the complexities surrounding this under-representation.
It asks what the absence of men means for all children, for schools and for the profession.
Through insightful research, personal reflection and the lived experience of educators, this book celebrates the universal rewards of primary teaching, and examines the structural barriers and benefits men encounter alongside the persistent social stigma they can face.
Drawing these threads together, it sets out meaningful short and long-term strategies for building more gender-balanced teaching teams and explains the right reasons for wanting more men in the profession.

Empower multilingual learners and challenge deficit thinking now. Multilingual learners (MLs) deserve more than assimilation-they deserve equity, empowerment, and celebration of their full linguistic repertoires and identities. This groundbreaking book uncovers how deficit ideologies about language perpetuate assimilationist practices that harm MLs' heritage languages, cultural identities, and equitable opportunities for academic success. Through real-life stories and sociolinguistic analysis, author Dr. Lillian Ardell provides the tools to transform classrooms and schools into spaces that celebrate multilingualism and foster biliteracy, even in places where deficit thinking about MLs determines instructional practices and outcomes.
Rooted in research and supported by actionable strategies, this book calls on educators to evolve as advocates, inspiring them to shift their mindsets and practices to nurture bilingualism and biliteracy. Features include: * Detailed exploration of the "Monolingual Bias" and how it operates within policies, curricula, and classrooms, * Insights into five "Disruptor Archetypes" to help educators identify their advocacy roles, * Real-life "Disruption Stories" offering inspiration and strategies for combating the Monolingual Bias, * Self-reflection tools like the "Small Brave Moments Quiz" to guide professional growth, * A call to action for educators ready to challenge deficit mindsets and champion multilingualism in their schools, Disrupting the Monolingual Bias offers educators the tools they need to dismantle harmful practices and create classrooms that honor and uplift MLs.
