welcome to BLAST camp at woodland!

BLAST is a summer day camp offered by Woodland Presbyterian School, located in East Memphis, from May 26- July 24 for campers in rising PK (3 year olds) -8th grade and currently enrolled Little Woodland students for the 2026-2027 school year. Our camps are packed with excitement, discovery, and adventure through organized and free play, STEAM challenges, digital discovery, along with arts and crafts. BLAST offers a day camp, along with specialty camps, or a combination of both.

BLAST DAY CAMP

BLAST camp offers campers summer days that are structured towards learning through play. Campers explore weekly themes through age-appropriate activities on a classroom-type schedule. They will have reading time each day, enjoy water play on Wednesdays, and be involved in hands-on STEAMcentered activities. BLAST offers a safe and secure environment for all campers.

BLAST SPECIALTY CAMPS

Specialty camps are led by Woodland teachers, coaches, and a variety of approved professionals. These specialty camps are divided into academic, athletic, and creative categories.

Blast Middle School Day Camp

Middle School day camp welcomes rising 5th-8th grade campers. Staff keep campers engaged through a variety of daily activities. This camp offers girls and boys a chance to “hang out” together while playing games, participating in digital discovery time, doing arts and crafts, and, ultimately, having a BLAST with their friends.

When applicable, include all campers’ specialty camps in each payment. All registrations must be made online.

*NOTE: After 6:00pm, a $5-per-minute late fee is charged and must be paid before next attendance. Fees must be paid at the end of the prior week before attending the next camp session.

registration information

Please complete online registration and payment to attend BLAST Day Camp and all specialty camps. Enrollment is filled on a first-come, first-served basis with limited space. Camp registration is closed one week prior to start date. If attending a specialty camp and need additional care, sign up for the half day of BLAST Day Camp along with the specialty camp to give your child eight full hours of daily care.

ages We invite rising PK (3 years old) through rising 8th graders, along with currently enrolled Little Woodland students, to join us. All grades listed are based on Fall 2026.  ✪ All PK and older campers must be potty trained.

drop off 7:30-8:30 am | Campers 3 years-8th grade drop off at Point B - back of school; Little Woodland drop off at Plaza—come inside to sign your camper in. All campers must be dropped off at Haygood Gym after 8:30 am.

pick up Pull into a parking spot outside of the Haygood Gym and walk in to sign your camper out. The gym doors are located on the east side of campus. Doors will be locked, so please ring the bell on the wall outside of the glass double doors.

appropriate dress Campers should wear comfortable play clothes each day. TENNIS SHOES are highly recommended.

safety Your child’s safety is our priority. All doors entering the facility are locked at all times. BLAST campers do not leave the premises. Outside playtime is modified or restricted when a heat advisory is in effect.

specialty camp policies Please complete the online registration with payment. If a specialty camp is canceled due to lack of participation, you will be contacted via email and offered the opportunity to transfer to another specialty camp or receive a full refund. Fees may not be pro-rated and are nonrefundable. All grade levels are based on the 2026-2027 school year. Specialty camp teachers will contact you with drop-off and pick-up instructions. Registration closes the Monday before camp begins.

weekly water play day

Every Wednesday, weather permitting, is water play day. BLAST Day campers need waterproof sunscreen applied by the parent before camp, and we will reapply as needed.

Shirts may be worn to protect against sunburn. Please send your child in a one-piece swimsuit, along with swim shoes, towel, and change of clothes.

Watermelon and snowcones will be served for snack. Campers cannot be pulled out of their Specialty Camp to attend Blast Day Camp Water Day.

outside play We offer organized play and free play when outside. We limit outside play to 15-30 minutes if there is an advisory for heat. When we are outside, we keep the campers supplied with water, popsicles, and ice.

snack and lunch We provide a morning and an afternoon snack. Please bring a lunch and water bottle every day; no microwave or refrigerator is available. You may not bring or order outside food for your camper.

special visitors We will have many activities and visitors to entertain campers during the summer! Sometimes changes have to be made without time to notify you.

technology Please do NOT bring any devices to camp. We have designated “Digital Discover”’ for use of technology (using our computers) for 1st-8th graders.

Blast discipline policy Campers are expected to follow all Woodland Presbyterian School rules. The administration reserves the right to dismiss, without refunds, any child whose behavior poses a discipline problem. The following behaviors may result in the dismissal of your child from BLAST Summer Camp if he/she is:

• a child demonstrating behavior that is hazardous to the safety of other children.

• a child requiring excessive one-on-one attention from staff.

• a child using inappropriate language.

• a child being disrespectful to the staff or verbally abusive to other children.

payment policy In the event you must cancel, you will receive a credit as defined below:

• Your Active account will be credited for future use and a $60 fee will be incurred

• Cancellations received within 48 hours of session start date forfeit full tuition

• Cancellation requests due to illness, accident, or personal reasons prior to the camp session start date must be in writing and sent to blast@woodlandschool.org.

• In the event of a date change, a $25 fee will be incurred

• Campers who leave prior to the end of a camp session WILL NOT receive a credit.

• Camps are not prorated.

We reserve the right to cancel a specialty camp if participation numbers are not adequate. You may select an alternative specialty camp, or you may request a credit of tuition paid. Cancellations of sessions will occur a minimum one week prior to the session start date.

Week If you are registering for less than a full week of camp, make sure to select which days of the week your camper will be attending when you are checking out in Active.

CREDITS Credits distributed for BLAST camp can only be used for the same BLAST camp season. Credits expire on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Week 1: May 26-29

Adventure Awaits

Let’s kick off the summer with an unforgettable adventure! From learning about the great outdoors to rubber duck races your camper will leave with memories that will last a lifetime. And even better this is just the first week of an action-filled summer.

Week 2: June 1-5

Wild Safari

The plains of the Savanna are waiting for you! Your camper will have the opportunity to learn about many different animals from birds to the big cats that roam the jungle. Join us as we go on a truly Wild Safari!

Week 3: June 8-12

Imagination Invasion

If you can think of it you can make it this week during Imagination Invasion. From creating mythical creatures to the best new way to travel the globe, this week is about your camper exploring their creativity.

Week 4: June 15-19

Memphis Week

Campers will spend the week learning about the wonderful culture and history of Memphis. Doing art and STEAM showcasing the amazing landmarks, people, and culture of our great city.

Week 5: June 22-26

time travelers

Travel through time with us this week as we learn and explore through different time periods in history. All the way from dinosaurs to cowboys and even the future, there will be plenty of excitement in each time period.

Week 6: June 29-July 2*

Happy Birthday USA

Get ready for a star-spangled week celebrating America’s birthday! Campers will enjoy patriotic crafts, fun games, and all-American activities, leading to a grand red, white, and blue celebration.

*BLAST Camp will be closed Friday, July 3.

Week 7: July 6-10

World Cup Week

GOOOAAALLL!!! Join us, as we celebrate the World Cup. Support your favorite country each day as we learn about the over century old tournament and follow the final few rounds as the last countries battle to win it all.

Week 8: July 13-17

Pirates and Princesses

Set sail for a magical adventure during our Pirates and Princesses week! Campers will search for hidden treasure, design royal crowns and pirate hats, and take part in epic quests filled with teamwork and imagination. Whether you rule a kingdom or sail the seven seas, this week is packed with swashbuckling fun and fairytale excitement!

Week 9: July 20-24

Carnival Week

Campers will enjoy exciting games, colorful crafts, and classic fair treats, ending the week with a spectacular camp carnival. The week will be full of laughter, prizes, and big-top magic!

q: What is considered a half day of camp?

a: Any 5 hours of day camp. Specialty camp times are in addition to this 5-hour time block.

q: What do I do if I sign up for a specialty camp and need more coverage for the day?

a: Specialty camps are 3 hours per day for 5 days, and signing up for half day/week will provide an additional 5 hours of camp.

q: Do you serve lunch at BLAST Camp?

a: No, we serve morning and afternoon snacks, and campers provide their own lunch.

q: Can you put a pull up/diaper on during naptime for my 3 year old?

a: No, all 3-year-olds and older must be potty trained to attend camp.

q: Do you have a nurse on staff during the summer?

a: No, we do not have a nurse on staff during summer camp.

q: What if it’s too hot to go outside?

a: Our director watches the heat index during the day. Campers will stay inside to play when necessary.

q: What if my camper doesn’t nap?

a: Your camper will be asked to rest on their mat quietly and can be given a book.

q: What if my camper is sick?

a: Please email blast@woodlandschool.org to let us know they will not be attending camp. Criteria for returning to camp following an illness:

• No fever for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication

• No vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours

• Antibiotic therapy for a full 24 hours for bacterial infections

• Symptoms are mild enough to NOT interfere with participation in camp activities

q: Do you prorate specialty camps if my camper cannot attend all of the days?

a: We do not prorate specialty camps.

q: How do I register my JK (4-year-old) and/or Little Woodland camper?

a: Register Little Woodland and JK students as “preschool.”

q: Can my 2-year-old attend camp?

a: All 2-year-old children must be currently enrolled in Little Woodland to attend camp.

q: What happens if I need to cancel my registration for a camp?

a: Please email the reason for the cancellation to blast@woodlandschool.org. The director will be in touch about your options. Camp does not provide refunds but does credit your Active camp account for future use within the same summer. Credits expire this summer on Wednesday, July 14, 2025.

q: Should I sign up for all summer at one time?

a: No, camp is a weekly sign up. Please sign up one week prior to camp start date. Camp is a firstcome, first-serve registration with limited space.

q: Do I need to send pull-ups for naptime for my LW camper?

a: Little Woodland campers need Velcro pull-ups and wipes for camp.

q: Does my camper have to be at camp at 7:30 am?

a: No, but we ask that your camper be here by 8:30 am.

q: Where do I drop off after 8:30 am?

a: The Haygood Gym entrance; please ring the bell outside the double glass doors and we will buzz you in.

q: If my camper is attending a specialty camp, can they still go to “water day” on Wednesday from 8:30 to 12:30?

a: If the camper is attending a morning specialty camp, they are unable to attend “water day.” If the camper is registered for an afternoon specialty camp, they can attend “water day” as long as they are registered for a half day of BLAST camp.

Little STEAM Camp: Coding and Robotics

Students entering PK–SK are invited to join Mrs. Norville for a fun, one-day coding and robotics adventure! Campers will build, create, and solve problems through hands-on activities made just for little learners. As they tinker and explore, children will practice fine motor skills by building, moving, and working with kid-friendly materials. They’ll also be introduced to early coding concepts like patterns, order, and cause-and-effect in a playful, age-appropriate way. It’s a great way to build confidence and spark interest in coding and STEM for the years ahead!

Math Masters Camp!

Count me in! Join Ms.Johnson for a math camp designed for students entering 2nd and 3rd grade who want to build confidence, strengthen skills, and enjoy math in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Students will practice essential math concepts such as number sense, problem-solving strategies, and clear, organized work habits through a variety of hands-on activities, games, collaborative challenges, and guided practice, helping students stay engaged while reinforcing important skills to carry into their upcoming school year.

Robotics Summer Camp

Get ready to build, code, and create! Our Robotics Summer Camp gives students in grades 3–8 the chance to explore the exciting world of robotics through hands-on learning and creative problem-solving.

STEAM Camp

STEAM Camp: Coding and Robotics

Students entering 1st-4th grade are invited to join Mrs. Norville for a fun 2-Day Coding & Robotics Camp! Campers will dive into coding one day and robotics on the other, building skills through hands-on challenges, creativity,

and problem-solving. Come code, build, and discover with us—this is a summer adventure you won’t want to miss!

Sailing Into SK!

This camp will introduce your child to Senior Kindergarten at Woodland and help him/her make a smooth transition. We will enjoy lots of read-aloud stories, practice letters, math concepts, and fine motor skills, and much more. Arts/ crafts, listening comprehension, and following direction activities will also be a part of the camp. A themed snack will be provided each day. Children should bring a water bottle every day. Let’s get ready for SK together!

Hooray for PK!

This camp is for rising PK Woodland students who want to explore what school will be like in the coming year. Campers will enjoy songs, stories, and a weeklong project, and learn about PK’s daily routines. A snack will be provided or campers may bring their own. 7th & 8th Grade Reading

Rising 7th- and 8th-grade students enrolled in this camp will read one of their summer reading books and complete the summer reading assignment. The camp will help students pace their day-to-day reading, work on comprehension strategies, and take notes for their final project/test.

Reading & Writing Workshop

This summer camp focuses on strengthening reading and writing skills through structured lessons and interactive activities. Students will practice reading comprehension, vocabulary development, grammar, and written expression, while engaging with age-appropriate texts. Small-group instruction and guided practice help students build confidence and prepare for the upcoming school year.

Jump Into JK!

Welcome to First Grade!

Welcome to First Grade is a camp for rising first-grade Woodland students. Campers learn more about what first grade will be like next year. This is a great way to get to know Mrs. Lirette and Mrs. Carruth. Campers will review reading, phonics, and math to prepare for a successful first-grade year in a fun and thematic way! A snack will be provided.

Add It Up!

This camp will help with the transition into Woodland’s middle school math classes. Students entering 5th-6th or 7th-8th grade are highly encouraged to attend. Basic concepts will be reviewed and worked on and summer math work will be reviewed.

Take your writing to the next level! This writing camp is designed for 7th- and 8th-grade students who want to strengthen their skills and feel more confident tackling middle school writing assignments. Whether preparing for essays, written responses, or research-based assignments, campers will leave with practical strategies they can use

across all subjects. Ideal for students who want a strong writing foundation and a confident start to the school year.

5th & 6th: Get Your Write On!

Writing is an essential component to the middle school and high school curriculum. Your camper will gain a jump start to success and build confidence in their writing. They will leave with the necessary skills to construct grade-level sentences, paragraphs, and use word choices to write vivid and meaningful papers. They will also learn to use textual evidence to support written answers.

Let’s Get Organized

Join us for a fun and informative week as we explore schedules, new technology, email etiquette, study skills, and social-emotional changes. Discover your learning style, master test-taking strategies, and try yoga and meditation for stress relief. Get a head start on time management, planner organization (with colors and stickers), and digital tools such as online calendars and checklists.

Get “App-y” Digital Organization

Woodland’s 7th and 8th grade brings exciting changes as students prepare for high school! Join us to set up computers, review study skills, prep for the ISEE, and GET DIGITALLY ORGANIZED! We’ll explore top digital tools like Evernote and LiveBinder, master email organization, and set up apps for time management, study skills, and grade tracking. Plus, discover Chrome extensions to simplify academic life.

Middle School Bundle

Get prepared for Middle School by signing up for a threecamp package and receive a price discount. Campers will be engaged in active learning to prepare them for their next grade at Woodland. With this bundle, campers attend three of the following: Add It Up, Get Your Write On, Let’s Get Organized, or Get “App-y.”

Time of your life P.E. Camp

Come have the time of your life in P.E. camp! Through exercise and games, this week is filled with energy. Campers receive a t-shirt so please add camper’s t-shirt size when registering online.

Obstacle Mania

Jump! Duck! Roll! Crawl! Climb! Swing! Each of our obstacle courses will focus on different muscles and skill groups like rolling, jumping, upper-body strength, balance, and body awareness. This fun camp focuses on physical and mental organization along with practical problem-solving. The kids will stay active mentally and physically as they conquer...well...the obstacles! The camp includes games, obstacle courses, arts and crafts, snacks, awards, and more.

Soccer Camp

Soccer camp will help campers develop their dribbling, shooting, and goalkeeping skills. Please wear shorts, cleats or tennis shoes, and socks with SHIN GUARDS. Water bottles are also required. Campers receive a t-shirt so please add camper’s t-shirt size when registering online.

Gymnastics Fun!

Time to tumble and make new friends! Campers will be immersed in an encouraging, safe environment improving strength, flexibility, coordination, and focus. Learn basic skills on bars, balance beam, floor, and vault/mini-trampoline with aerobic movements and fun stretches. Camp also includes games, obstacle courses, arts and crafts, snacks, awards, and more. Campers should wear leotards or athletic clothing and bring a water bottle.

Intermediate Gymnastics

Gymnasts at the intermediate level will learn or build on beginning and intermediate skills in four Olympic events: bars, balance beam, floor, and vault. With more focus on form and execution, these gymnasts will develop flexibility, strength, coordination, and confidence as they jump, flip, swing, handstand, and cartwheel. The camp includes games, obstacle courses, arts and crafts, snacks, awards, and more. Campers should wear leotards or athletic clothing and bring a water bottle.

Learn how to play one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S., Pickleball! This camp will teach the fundamentals of Pickleball and help campers learn the rules.

Does your camper want to be faster and more nimble with greater endurance? If so, this is the perfect camp! Indoor

Building Blocks Soccer Camp

Building Blocks Soccer is a SUPER FUN preschool soccer clinic that seamlessly integrates the building blocks of child development with early learning soccer skills and principles. Our amazing coaches provide an educational experience that fosters physical, cognitive, social and emotional growth, and empowers our new and young soccer players with confidence while they enter the world of soccer and other sports! Join us during the World Cup themed Summer Camp where each day we will highlight different countries and fun World Cup activities!

Warrior Cheer Camp

Attend a fun-filled, high-energy camp where girls will enhance their cheer knowledge and focus on stretches, cheers, and stunts. Athletes will perform what they’ve

Gymnastics Fun!

Time to tumble and make new friends! Campers will be immersed in an encouraging, safe environment improving strength, flexibility, coordination, and focus. Learn basic skills on bars, balance beam, floor, and vault/mini-trampoline with aerobic movements and fun stretches. Camp also includes games, obstacle courses, arts and crafts, snacks, awards, and more. Campers should wear leotards or athletic clothing and bring a water bottle.

Intermediate Gymnastics

Gymnasts at the intermediate level will learn or build on beginning and intermediate skills in four Olympic events: bars, balance beam, floor, and vault. With more focus on form and execution, these gymnasts will develop flexibility, strength, coordination, and confidence as they jump, flip, swing, handstand, and cartwheel. The camp includes games, obstacle courses, arts and crafts, snacks, awards, and more. Campers should wear leotards or athletic clothing and bring a water bottle.

Happily Ever After (Taylor’s Version)

Calling all Swifties! In this imaginative summer camp, students will design every detail of Taylor Swift’s dream wedding—from the dress and venue to the menu, décor, and color palette (think eras, aesthetics, and a little sparkle). Campers will work in teams to plan a celebration worthy of a love story, researching vendors and calculating the total cost of their big day. It’s a hands-on week blending creativity, collaboration, math, and plenty of Taylor-inspired Easter eggs.

The Eras Wedding Experience

Calling all Swifties! In this one-day camp, students in grades 1-4 will design every part of Taylor Swift’s dream wedding— from the dress and venue to the decorations, colors, and cake. Campers will use their creativity to make choices, work together, and play wedding planners for the day, with simple number activities to figure out how much their celebration might cost. It’s a joyful, hands-on day full of imagination, teamwork, and Taylor-inspired fun.

Lovely Letters Lab!

Students entering 2nd-5th grade are invited to join Ms. Johnson for a week of creative writing projects centered around the many fun and artistic ways we can write! Campers will explore calligraphy, bubble letters, decorative fonts, paint brush pens, handwriting styles, and beginner typing skills through engaging activities and guided practice. Each day, students will experiment with different tools and techniques—learning how letters can be expressive, colorful, and unique!
