Small businesses make up most of the registered businesses in our community. Whether it’s shopping at your local boutique, ordering from your favorite local artist, or grabbing dinner from the family business down the road – if supporting your community is important to you, supporting small businesses and shopping local should be too.
2 Show support
over Social Media Whether that’s telling a friend, writing a review, or sharing a small business’ post on social media – spreading awareness around your favorite small business can go a long way. It not only helps promote their business, but it shows your support even if you don’t purchase.
3 Purchase a Gift Card
This can be for a friend, family member, or neighbor. Purchasing a gift card and providing it as a gift for someone assists with creating awareness around that small business. And who knows, it may just become their favorite.

Do some online research to find what small business awards are accepting nominations in your area. By nominating your favorite small business for an award, you’re not only showing support but simultaneously spreading awareness.

or the Chamber’s March Meet the New Members, we made our way to New Caney to check out all the amazing attractions at Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures. LMC Class of 2022 Education Session The LMC Class of 2022 recently had their Education Session. The session, sponsored by Better Bookkeepers, Brighton Academy and McKesson, gave class members a look into the various aspects of education in our community. The session was hosted by Conroe ISD at both Clark Intermediate (named after LMC gradate Katherine Clark ’07) and Grand Oaks High School. LMC Board Member Sarah Blakelock ’16 served as the Session Director. The class heard from six school district superintendents, as well as representatives in higher education, private schools, and the partnership Conroe ISD has with juvenile detention. The class toured both Clark Intermediate and Grand Oaks High School. They also learned more about mental health services, school safety, public school funding, school communications, and K-18 school options.
Leadership Montgomery County (LMC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedicated to developing and enhancing current and future leaders of Montgomery County. The mission of LMC is to prepare emerging and existing leaders to understand local issues, grow their leadership skills and connect with others to better serve Montgomery County. The Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce, The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce, the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber, the Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber, and the Montgomery Area Chamber are all partner chambers in the LMC program. Houston TranStar Urges Motorists to
Move Over or Slow Down Every day, law enforcement, emergency personnel and tow operators risk their lives responding to calls for help on area roadways. The Texas Move Over/ Slow Down law requires that passing motorists move out of the lane closest to an emergency vehicle stopped on the roadway or reduce driving speeds to 20 miles below the posted limit if they can’t safely move. The Move Over or Slow Down law is designed to prevent secondary crashes and protect first responders, drivers and passengers,” said Dinah Massie, Executive Director at Houston TranStar. When you see an emergency vehicle on the side of a road, the Move Over/ Slow Down Law requires you to: Give them space, and keep them safe by moving over to the next lane

If you are not able to switch lanes: Slow down to 20 miles per hour below the posted speed limit Slow down to 5 miles per hour on local roads if the posted speed is 25 miles per hour or less
