How To Be There Without Attending
Chambers hear this often: “I’m just too busy to make any of the events” or “We had someone who was attending events, but they are no longer here.”

Although the Chamber is much more than just an avenue for networking, we recognize many companies have the need for networking in order to market their products or services. There are many ways the Chamber offers a business the opportunity to stay top of mind with over 1500 members; many of these are at little or no cost:
Review your listing in our online Member Directory. Does it properly represent your business? Add hours of operation, directions, a bulleted description, pictures, and videos to your listing on our site. Make sure your listing has links to your social media. We offer links to Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube with your listing.

Make sure your customers and potential customers can find you online in our Member Directory. Your listing is under a certain number of categories based on your level, but you have unlimited key words available. Are you set up under all the key words that describe your business? We have 7000 to 9000 hits a month to our online Member Directory…make sure you are well represented!

Utilize your advertising credits. Every membership level now comes with some advertising credits which can be utilized for a member minute eblast, website banners, or Business Today advertising. These outlets not only reach our members, but out entire community has this information available to them.

Display your Chamber plaque proudly, affix your Chamber decal to your window and add our MEMBER OF logo to your website and promotional materials. Virtual Student Mentoring
E
ducation for Tomorrow Alliance (EfTA) will wrap up its 30th year by hosting a virtual eighth annual Trivia Night, presented by Consolidated Communications, on Friday, August 28th. All are invited to an evening of brain-busting fun where guests will be challenged with trivia ranging from history to pop culture in pursuit of the Smarties Cup. Each team will attempt to demonstrate their mastery of trivial knowledge with a little friendly competition, so come show what you know! All proceeds support local K-12 students through EfTA’s educational enrichment programs. Trivia begins at 7:00 pm. Individual tickets are $50 per person. Community Relations Team Holds
Collection Drive for Backpack Buddy Program
D
id you know that one in four children are food insecure in Montgomery County? Many rely on the school’s reduced or free meal program, which leaves a deficiency for these families when school is not in session. The Community Relations Team (CRT) continues their outreach to help those with food insecurities. During the month of July, the team collected donations to support Montgomery County Food Bank’s Backpack Buddy Program. The food bank works with community school districts to provide nutritious kid-friendly food during the weekend for children who are at-risk of hunger. Business Advocacy Council
T
he Woodlands Area Chamber brings a unique touch to our members through awareness and advocacy efforts of public policy that has directly impacted the business nonprofit communities due to COVID-19. In May, the Business Advocacy Council started identifying the Chamber’s legislative priorities for the 87th Legislature beginning January 12, 2021 and concluding on May 31, 2021. The council received input from Texas State Senators and Representatives and heard updates regarding COVID-19. The Business Advocacy Council meets on the third Friday of every month at 8 a.m. and welcomes all members. For the time being, meetings will take place on Zoom. The Council strives to be an effective voice of businesses by developing and implementing legislative agendas, hosting advocacy events to inform and encourage business involvement in the community. Legendary rock band Metallica has awarded Lone Star College $50,000 to help students find exciting new careers in Advanced Manufacturing/ Mechatronics, Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Dental Assistant and Truck Driving. Interfaith of The Woodlands recently received a $100,000 donation from Waste Connections, Inc., as a beneficiary of their 12th annual Golf Classic for Kids & Poker Experience, even though the event was canceled due to COVID-19. These funds were utilized immediately to support various community programs focused on families and children. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is proud to announce the awarding of 22 new scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $7,500 for a total over $156,000 to seniors pursuing fine arts in college. The recipients represent 12 high schools across seven school districts. Renewal scholarships were also awarded to 29 recent recipients.
