Chamber C.A.R.E.S. Committee Announces Theme for the 2022 Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon

he Chamber C.A.R.E.S. Committee is excited to begin plans for the 2022 Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. The Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon is an opportunity to show our gratitude to our nonprofit members for the impact they make on our community. The Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon is a celebration that the team looks forward to producing each year. From theme, to décor, to securing sponsors, arranging catering and producing a presentation showcasing the amazing work these organizations have accomplished. It is a tribute to those that serve. Each

nonprofit member will receive an invitation for two complimentary seats to the event. As we begin preparations for this next year, we are excited to announce the theme: We Salute You in 2022. Volunteers Inspire STEM Exploration Education for Tomorrow Alliance, Conroe ISD, and area

Leadership Montgomery County Hosts

Government Session for the LMC Class of 2022 Leadership Montgomery County (LMC)

recently hosted the Government Session for the LMC Class of 2022. It was a full day of learning about national, state and local government and was directed by Angela Storseth (LMC Class of 2015) and Sarah Henry (LMC Class of 2019). Each year, LMC alumni are invited to the Government Session to meet the class, visit with other alumni and hear updates from their government officials.

Beginning with a breakfast sponsored by All Star Catering, the session kicked off at the City of Conroe City Hall with their Leadership Series, followed by a Government 101 presentation by Storseth and Henry. Next, the class heard from a municipal panel featuring City of Conroe Mayor Jody Czajkoski, The Woodlands Township Chairman Gordy Bunch, and City of Oak Ridge North City Manager Heather Neeley. The class then walked over to the Judge Alan B. Sadler Annex - Commissioners Court to hear about county government from Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough and Commissioner James Metts. The class had lunch sponsored by Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital while learning about their Legislative Simulation assignment for the day. The legislative simulation was new to the session this year and created a new way for the class to learn the ins and outs of passing a bill. After lunch, the class traveled to County Court at Law #2 to hear from a judicial panel including Judge Claudia Laird, Judge Wayne Mack, and First Assistant County Attorney Amy Dunham.

Back at Commissioner’s Court, giving a look into government at the state level were Representative Will Metcalf–District 16, Representative Cecil Bell–District 3, Representative Steve Toth–District 15, Senator Brandon Creighton–District 4, and Senator Lois Kolkhorst–District 18. U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady–District 8 and Congressman Dan Crenshaw–District 2 joined the class live via Zoom from Washington D.C. The session concluded with the Legislative Simulation and Class Floor Debate before heading to The Corner Pub to meet Alumni for the class and alumni holiday social. Leadership Montgomery County (LMC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedicated to developing and enhancing current and future leaders of Montgomery County. The mission of LMC is to prepare emerging and existing leaders to understand local issues, grow their leadership skills and connect with others to better serve Montgomery County. The Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce, The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce, the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber, the Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber, and the Montgomery Area Chamber are all partner chambers in the LMC program.
