THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE WOMEN'S METROPOLITAN GOLF ASSOCIATION
T H I S I S S U E
Welcome to the Spring 2026 edition of TeeTalk, as we reflect on an extraordinary 2025 season and look ahead to the exciting 2026 season.
BY AMANDA ALCAMO, VP OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS WOMEN'S METROPOLITAN GOLF ASSOCIATION
Welcome to the Spring 2026 edition of Tee Talk and to something a little different As the WMGA's new VP of Marketing & Communications, one of my priorities has been to give this newsletter the refresh it deserves. The publication you are reading today features a new design, a new layout, and a renewed commitment to telling the stories of the remarkable women who make this organization what it is
Going forward, you can expect Tee Talk to continue evolving with sharper storytelling, stronger visuals, and a design that reflects the quality of the golf and the caliber of the women this organization represents Future issues will bring new features, deeper coverage of our members and clubs, and more ways to connect with everything the WMGA offers. I welcome your feedback, your story ideas, and your photos. The best version of this newsletter is one that reflects all of you, and I mean that sincerely. This newsletter belongs to all of us.
Thank you for your warm welcome to the Board, and thank you for reading. I look forward to seeing you on the course this season.
Sincerely,
Amanda Alcamo VP OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS WOMEN'S METROPOLITAN GOLF ASSOCIATION

“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” John Steinbeck, Travels With Charley: In Search of America.
Golf works much the same way. A round of golf is rarely a perfect string of fairways and birdies Instead, it’s filled with moments that test our patience the drive that drifts into the rough, the putt that lips out, or the bunker that appears exactly where you hoped it wouldn’t. Yet those very challenges are what make the great moments so satisfying.
Welcome to a new year and a new golf season with the WMGA From the travel and camaraderie of Team Matches, to competitive stroke play and championship match play, to the fun and spirited team events throughout the summer, there truly is something for every golfer.
In 2025, we renewed our focus on growing membership and increasing awareness of the WMGA. As we move into 2026, we are continuing that work with expanded membership outreach across the tri-state region. Through collaborations with the MetPGA and NJPGA, we hope to strengthen relationships with local PGA professionals further and introduce more women to the WMGA's opportunities. We also look forward to continuing our partnership with the MGA as we work together to grow the game for women.
None of this would be possible without the dedication and support of our outstanding Board of Directors and our exceptional staff General Manager Suzanne Herzner, Tournament Manager Erin Schowerer, Assistant Tournament Manager Matt Polverino, and Office Manager Suzanne Longlade.
We are forever grateful for the unwavering support of our host clubs throughout the metropolitan area. Year after year, these clubs graciously welcome our events and provide outstanding venues for our members to test their competitive skills.
And as we look ahead to the coming season, may the challenges of the game only make the great moments sweeter - just as the warmth of summer is made even better by the memory of winter.

The WMGA extends its sincere gratitude to the following outgoing board members for their dedicated service: Amy Bender, Donna De Marco, Liz Greco, Alair Muzzatti, Maggie Pizzone, and Katie Renoff.
Whether you call them Team Matches or MET Matches, we all know the fear, pressure and excitement of golfing in unpredictable spring weather, with teammates counting on you to win points For the 2025 Team Matches we had approximately 900 players competing Three Series One teams Baltusrol, Piping Rock Club and Sleepy Hollow CC ended up facing off, and it was Sleepy Hollow that claimed victory and hoisted the Founders Cup for the third time

The WMGA established the Judy Bell Award to recognize significant contributions to the game of golf for women and/or juniors in the Metropolitan area Judy Bell, for whom the award is named, was the first woman elected president of the USGA in 1996

The Lann Trophy is awarded to the player who posts the lowest gross tournament score in a Class "A" event
The Class "B" Player of the Year is awarded to the WMGA member who demonstrates the strongest overall competitive performance across Class "B" events throughout the season.
The Board of Directors Cup is awarded each year to the player who posts the lowest gross tournament score in a Class "B" event
Volunteering is at the core of the WMGA, initiated by our five founders, and whether you serve as a board member, committee participant, tournament volunteer or course rater, the WMGA would not be the organization it is today without you, our volunteers. So in 2020, the Board decided to annually recognize the individuals who go above and beyond to advance the WMGA's mission.
Our Volunteer Appreciation program recognizes members who have gone above and beyond whether by volunteering at three or more tournaments or by serving in multiple roles such as Met Rep or Series Captain This years honorees are Pat Codey, Donna De Marco, Wendy Dominick, Lynne Gere, Linda Greene, Darcy Meyers, Nancy Rees, Peggy Tierney, and Kate Zellinger. The Board also proudly spotlights one standout volunteer from each district, and we are delighted to announce our fifth class of Volunteers of the Year

Anne Carracino's path to the WMGA is unlike most; she came not as a golfer, but as a daughter Watching her parents share a lifelong love of the game and a deep commitment to giving back planted a seed that bloomed into action after her mother passed away Searching for a meaningful way to honor that legacy, Anne found her way to the WMGA and never looked back She jumped in as a tournament volunteer on Long Island, and her enthusiasm, reliability, and genuine warmth quickly made her a familiar and welcome presence at events Anne is proof that you don't need a handicap to make a difference, just heart The WMGA is proud to recognize Anne as one of this year’s Volunteers of the Year LONG ISL AND
Mike Nuzzo
If you want to understand Mike Nuzzo, start with this number: 695. That's how many golf courses he has played since picking up the game in 1970, a figure that speaks volumes about a man who simply doesn't do anything halfway A Hall of Fame wrestler at Montclair State and an award-winning real estate professional, Mike brings that same all-in energy to his work as an MGA rules official and course rater For the past seven years, he has channeled the instincts of a lifelong teacher and coach into helping golfers navigate the rulebook and mentoring the next generation of apprentice course raters This season, his steady presence at WMGA events particularly at Glen Ridge and Spring Brook proved invaluable time and again The WMGA is proud to recognize Mike as one of our Volunteers of the Year, and grateful that somewhere between courses 694 and 695, he found time for us

t started, as so many great golf stories do, with a mistake. A rules mix-up early in Wendy Dominick's adult golf career idn't frustrate her; it fascinated her. That moment of curiosity sent her down a path that would include seven USGA/PGA workshops, expert-level certification, and a long tenure as an MGA Rules Official and District Chair. But the ules are just one chapter of Wendy's story. She first picked up a club as a child, sneaking swings on the 10th hole at he Powelton Club with whatever old clubs she could find, and she has been a WMGA member since 1984 long enough to have worn just about every hat the organization has to offer Four decades in, her dedication shows no signs of slowing, and the WMGA is better for every single year of it
