MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Reflecting on Women Offshore's Impact Over This Last Year

As we close the logbook on 2024, I'm proud to reflect on the incredible voyages we've charted and the waves we've made together. This year has been nothing short of extraordinary a true testament to the strength of our community and our shared commitment to a brighter, more inclusive future on the water.

One of our standout achievements was awarding $110,000 in scholarships. With the support of OSG, Houston Pilot Anchor Watch, MEBA, and others at the helm, we've helped talented individuals set sail toward their dreams. These scholarships are the wind in the sails of tomorrow's leaders. Meanwhile, our MentorSHIP program reached new heights, with a record number of mentors and mentees forging connections that empower success on the water.

Our annual Benefit Gala, the Women Offshore Conference, and the Inclusion Summit brought the community together for impactful events that left a deep wake of inspiration. This year's theme, "Challenge Accepted: Seize Opportunities, Excel on the Water," anchored the Women Offshore Conference and celebrated the tenacity, resilience, and achievements of women+ across every aspect of life on the water. From thought-provoking conversations to joyful celebrations of success, these gatherings demonstrated the true strength of our community.

To all who have supported us thank you. Your dedication fuels our mission and keeps us on course. Together, we've created ripples of empowerment that will carry us far beyond this year's horizon.

As we set sail for 2025, let's continue charting this remarkable course. Here's to another year of progress and excellence on the water. Anchors aweigh full steam ahead!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our 2024 corporate members. Their generous contributions have been pivotal to our success this year, and we couldn't have achieved our goals without their support

We are proud to spotlight the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Alumni Association and Foundation (USMMA AAF) as a valued member of Women Offshore. Their dedication to supporting USMMA aligns with our mission to promote opportunities and advancement in the industry, and we deeply appreciate their support of our organization.

USMMA has played a pioneering role in advancing gender inclusion in federal service academies. In 1974, it became the first of the five federal service academies to amend its admission requirements and accept women preceding the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard by two years. Just four years later, in 1978, history was made when eight women from the academy became the first female graduates of any federal service academy.

Recently the Academy achieved another milestone as the Class of 2027 became the 50th class to include women. USMMA’s legacy of breaking barriers continues to inspire future generations of women in the maritime industry, and we are honored to recognize the USMMA Alumni Association and Foundation for their commitment to supporting this enduring progress.

PROGRAMS

In 2024, our Career Support Programs continued to make a significant impact. Under the leadership of Christine MacMillan, Director of Career Support, we awarded $110,000 to cadets for their required training cruises reinforcing our commitment to educational progress for women+ in the maritime industry.

Through four rounds of personalized, one-on-one career development, we welcomed 20 new members in 2024 and an additional 10 new members in the first half of the year. By taking time to understand each individual’s needs, we fostered a community that helps seafarers choose the right career path and feel supported.

Christine took on the role of MentorSHIP program coordinat and she has been actively engaging with mentors and mentees weekly through the MentorLoop platform to ensur the program’s benefits are maximized. Working closely with Women Offshore International Ambassadors, Christine help navigate local regulations and fosters connections, offering training materials, class funding, and professional resume writing assistance. Christine’s actions demonstrate a profound understanding of the diverse needs and challenges within the industry, highlighting her dedication to providing inclusive and impactful support for maritime professionals.

In 2025, we will be offering the Deeper Waters Learning Series, our third round of scholarships for state maritime training cruises, an open application for the career development program and continuing to offer our formal MentorSHIP program. Check out our website for more details.
