A system of paths leads through the open area in the forest to the burial mounds that have been preserved to this day. The mighty grave of a high-ranking woman, rebuilt as a show grave, provides deep insights into past mortuary cults. One of Austria's largest garden mazes opened in July 2001 between the castle and Rosegg Wildlife Park. Over 3,000 hornbeams form a one kilometre long hedge covering an area of 2,400 square metres, giving shape to this beautiful maze. The tower in the centre serves as a landmark, which is also a beautiful destination and photo spot.

Tramway at the Lendcanal with Museum for Public Transport and Cinema

Experience historic trams from the last century in action on the Lendcanaltramway! The City Transport Museum is dedicated to the history of public transport in Klagenfurt since 1891. The Cinema Museum presents the history of movie and cinema in Carinthia since 1896 – starting with the first ‘traveling cinemas’ (a fairground-attraction), ending with the modern cinemas of today. Take a seat in our own little cinema and see the oldest local movie, produced in 1911.

The Robert-Musil-Literature-Museum is located in the same house where Robert Musil (1880 – 1942), the Austrian author of world renowned books and modern classics, was born in Klagenfurt. The house, which was built in 1867, belongs to the city of Klagenfurt and was adapted in 1996 and 1997 to encompass a modern centre for literature, with new rooms for the museum and for the University of Klagenfurt Robert Musil Institute forLiterature Research/Carinthian Literature Archive. Since 1994, the literature museum has been run by the cultural department of the city of Klagenfurt and now shows permanent exhibitions on Robert Musil, Christine Lavant and Ingeborg Bachmann. The contentrelated concept for the exhibitions came from Heimo Strempfl , the design for the exhibitions came from architect Franz Freytag (Klagenfurt). The internationally renowned French street artist Jef Aérosol turned the Musil Museum into a real ‛landmark‘ by spraypainting portraits of Christine Lavant, Ingeborg Bachmann and Robert Musil on the entrance.
The Alpen-Adria-Gallery is located only a 5 minute walk away from Stadtgalerie Klagenfurt. As a year-round operation, those interested in art can choose between various exhibitions on an area of 300 m2, which range from paintings, artworks, sculptures and photographs to new media. The focus is on art from Carinthia.

Gustav Mahler Composer’s Cottage
’... my heart became full ...‘ (G. Mahler) The brilliant composer needed the tranquillity of nature for his inspiration. The ideal place was Klagenfurt-Maiernigg am Wörthersee, where he had his composing cottage built in 1900. He created his major works here in the summer months up to 1907.
Visit the Gustav Mahler composer’s cottage and let the spirit of the place work on you as it did on Gustav Mahler. Listen in peace to his compositions and find out all about Mahler’s life and all his musical creations.

Klagenfurt Parish Church Tower

The Klagenfurt parish church tower, with its viewing platform at a height of 50 m, ofers wonderful views of the Old Town of Klagenfurt and a beautiful panoramic view of Lake Wörthersee, the Karawanken mountains, and the Koralpe. Find out why the new shiny copper red tower roof will not take on the usual green patina. It is well worth climbing the 225 steps. Ingeborg Bachmann (born 1926 in Klagenfurt, died 1973 in Rome) is one of the most important authors of German-language literature afer 1945. She spent most of her childhood and youth in the house on Henselstraße in Klagenfurt. Now owned by the province of Carinthia and the provincial capital Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, the life and work of the famous Carinthian writer are made accessible here.

The Roman ‘city on the Magdalensberg’ is one of the largest archaeological sites in the Eastern Alps. It has been the subject of archaeological research since 1948. The park covers four hectares and its ruins show important areas of the former settlement. On this historic site, you will come across the ‘Young Man of Magdalensberg’ and many other artefacts that bear witness to life on Magdalensberg 2.000 years ago.

The Carinthian Open-Air Museum Maria Saal, the oldest museum of its kind in Austria, is home to rural houses and farm buildings from various parts of Carinthia. The ‘Mother of Carinthian Churches’Maria Saal Cathedral
The cathedral goes back more than 2000 years: As a late Gothic pilgrimage and collegiate church, it was starting point of the second Christianisation of Carantania. Sights include the grave of Irish monk and chorbishop Modestus in the collegiate church and the world famous Roman stone relief on the facade, as well as unique frescoes, Gothic carvings, and a Baroque organ. Afer a devastating fire in 1669, the church was rebuilt in its present style. The north tower houses Carinthia’s largest church bell. In 2018, contemporary stations of the cross were created.

Historama is the second largest museum for technology and transport in Austria and ofers you a wide range of exhibits, demonstrating the history of trafic by road, rail or sea. On more than 4.700 m² you will find approx. 400 exhibits, many of them in working order. See cars, trucks, fire engines, trams, busses, workshop-equipment – all dated back until the 19th century. For our young guests we ofer a riddle rally, model trains, photo-points and a large indoor playground.

Maria Lassnig (1919–2014) is considered one of the most important artists of the 20th and early 21st centuries. An important part of her career was her studio in Klostergasse in Klagenfurt, where she worked for around seven years, from 1944 to 1951, afer completing her painting studies in Vienna.
The studio provides insights into the artist's working environment and ofers vivid, in-depth information with the help of modern media. Even during Lassnig's time in Klagenfurt, her works ofen dealt with her major life theme: body awareness.

The Teufelsgraben is a natural area that impresses with its special atmosphere: the constant sound of water, the play of light and shadow, and the tranquillity of the forest. This ofer invites you to immerse yourself in this very atmosphere – step by step, breath by breath. The water accompanies us along the entire route and shapes the character of the yoga practice: flowing, sof and intuitive. Old Loibl Pass: Enjoyable hike to the Slovenian ‘Stari Loibl Hut’
This hike combines alpine nature, history and Slovenian delicacies –an excursion that links both sides of the Loibl Pass area! We will carpool together from ‘Deutscher Peter’ and drive to the starting point below today's Loibl Tunnel. From there, the trail leads us steadily uphill along the historic old Loibl Pass road, which once connected Austria with its southern neighbour. At the top, the striking obelisks of the former crossing await us – and a panorama that arouses curiosity: Austria on one side, our Slovenian neighbour on the other. Right next to it is our destination: the cosy ‘Stari Loibl Hütte’. Here, it's okusno! – because typical Slovenian specialities are waiting to be tasted. A culinary detour that perfectly rounds of this hike. The diference in altitude is approx. 300 m, the total walking time approx. 3 hours.

The Hef ironworks, a monumental witness to the iron industry in the 19th century, is one of the largest historic ironworks facilities in Europe.
Carinthian architect Günther Domenig harmoniously yet unconventionally combined the old building fabric with a floating glass and steel construction. Today's open-air museum skilfully masters the fusion of classicist mining buildings with modern architecture. The old blast furnaces have been spectacularly staged & are the starting point of the hike. The trail leads to Knappenberg and back along the old ore railway. The diference in altitude is approx. 280 m and the route is around 10 km long.

Covering around 140 hectares, the Hörfeldmoor is home to a fascinating variety of flora and fauna, including 500 butterfly species, 125 bird species and over 50 rare plants. Starting from Emmi Antjes Steg, our 3-hour hike leads through the forest and across the meadow around the beautiful Hörfeldmoor. The route of around 5 km and not quite 100 metres in altitude is also suitable for children aged 6 and over, but is not suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. The diference in altitude is approx. 100 m, the total walking time approx. 2 hours.

Starting from the hiking trailhead we walk across the Kalkbrand into the Guttenbrunnertal valley and from there up to the Hirnkopf (1,840 m). We take a break here to enjoy the view of Lake Flattnitz, the Flattnitz high moor and the surrounding peaks. The route then leads via Hirnloch and Haidnerhöhe back to Flattnitz.

The robber round - Krapfenbäck Simale
From the Wegscheide inn, where the doughnut baker Simale (Carinthia's Robin Hood) met his tragic end, we head east. We hike along picturesque forest paths north of the Wunderriegel (1,274 m) towards the Schneebauerberg. There are numerous beautiful viewpoints to the north towards the Gurktal Alps or to the south towards the Karawanken mountains. From Haus Schneebauer, we now head slightly south back to the starting point.
The diference in altitude is approx. 260 m and the route is around 10 km long.

From the ship landing stage in Velden, you walk through the village with the villas from the time of the Wörthersee Architecture to the French Church. This is where the path through the Roman gorge to the Lake Forstsee begins. Through beautiful mixed forest it goes to the viewpoint ‘Hohes Kreuz’. Here we enjoy a wonderful view over Velden, the Lake Wörthersee, the Karawanken mountain and Julian Alps. We continue to the Lake Forstsee, which invites you to swim in the summer months. Passing the small lake, it goes through the Roman gorge back to Velden.

Through the Roman gorge to Lake Saissersee
From the ship landing stage in Velden it goes through the village to the French Church. This is where the path through the Römerschlucht begins, towards Lake Saissersee. This small moor lake is located in the Jeserzer landscape protection area and is particularly appreciated for its natural state. Around the lake we continue to the ’Veldener Kanzel’. Here we enjoy the view of Velden, Lake Wörthersee and the Karawanken. Through the Teufelsgraben it goes back to Velden.

Our first stop will be at the Hotel Schloss Leonstain where we will visit the inner courtyard which displays the bust of Johannes Brahms.
Aferwards we have to climb a few steps to reach one of the most amazing lookout points on Lake Wörthersee, the Hohe Gloriette which ofers a fantastic view of the whole lake. Enjoy the unique panoramic view and listen to classical music while reading the information board which gives you interesting details about the life of the famous composer Johannes Brahms who lived in Pörtschach from 1877 to 1879. We will continue our hike to the Leonstein Castle ruins and the Niedere Gloriette. To complete our hike we return to the tourist information.

Herbal experience from Gurk to Pisweg We take you on a journey through nature, starting at the imposing Gurk Cathedral. We are Susanne Fischinger, certified herbal expert and certified forest educator, and Franz Plieschnegger, mountain guide. The challenging hike leads along a forest path to Pisweg (1000 m altitude). While enjoying the pure forest air, you will learn all about the formation of the Gurk Valley, stones, herbs and the forest habitat. During a break at the ‘Debriacher Kreuz’, you can enjoy the magnificent view. In Pisweg, we stop for refreshments at the herb restaurant ‘Zum Kramer’. On request, there is a guided tour of the herb garden. Back in the valley, we soak our feet in the cool waters of the ‘Wass-er-Leben-Oase’ (water life oasis).

This guided hike takes us to the southernmost part of Austria. First, we take a leisurely walk along the Loiblbach stream until the actual gorge begins afer the Goldenen Bründl. Well-secured, we make our way over ladders, steps and bridges to the first of 3 waterfalls. A bridge and a spiral staircase lead directly next to the first waterfall to the top, where the second waterfall is reached below the Loiblpass road. We reach the Tschauko Falls via the Devil's Bridge, a boldly constructed suspension bridge. We look back at the Tschaukofall through a huge rock gate.
Now we follow the nature trail ‘In the footsteps of Dr Peter Tschauko’. Numerous information boards inform us about the fauna and flora of the Loibl Valley. Passing the refreshing Elfenqulle and the LiebesPlatzl, we finally reach the traditional ‘Deutscher Peter’ inn. Afer a well-earned rest, we return to Lake Wörthersee. The Saualpe is Carinthia's sunniest spot. While the local mountain ranges generally run from west to east, this mountain range folds out from north to south. The result: a unique panoramic view over the whole of Carinthia to the Julian Alps in Slovenia and Italy. Especially when the sun literally falls into the sea in the west, magical moments for all the senses ensue.
Gentle curves instead of steep climbs – that's the motto. Once we reach the summit, we wait together for the approaching sunset and notice how the nature around us becomes quieter and quieter and the flora and fauna settle down to rest. Afer a souvenir photo at the summit cross, we descend.
The elevation diference is approx. 444 m and the route is around 6 km long.

THE HOUSE OF ARCHAEOLOGY
With a height of 772 m Mt. Kathreinkogel is not only a prominent feature in the landscape of the community but also its most interesting cultural site. From the parking lot you take the hiking trail to get to the top. Walking along the trail you will learn a lot about the history of the mountain. In the museum all the archaeological finds from the 1980s are set on display. They date back to the Neolithic as well as Bronze Age and the late antiquity.
On top of the mountain there are the remains of a 10,000 m2 large fortification with an early Christian church from the 4th century. You can still admire the elevated presbytery, the floor pavement and the two cisterns to the south-west that were used to catch and store rainwater.

Each tree can be climbed using a wooden platform, with the highest obstacle being 20 metres high. The Rosental valley is waking up! –
Morning bike tour with breakfast at the Drau river
Peace, nature, great views, idyllic moments and a rustic Carinthian breakfast – these are the ingredients for this leisurely bike tour along the Drava cycle path. Along the course of the river you can observe the flora and fauna of the Drava floodplains. We have placed our Rosentaler Hof picnic box directly on the banks of the Drava and serve you a great breakfast surrounded by unspoilt nature! In the footsteps of Saint Hemma –e-bike cultural tour from Friesach to Gurk
This guided e-bike tour leads from the castle town of Friesach to the Gurk Valley, which is closely linked to the history of Saint Hemma. Along the way, participants will encounter castles, churches and stories that tell of faith, power and life in medieval Carinthia.
Accompanied by MMag. Carmen Heller, Austrian guide and historian, you will experience a day tour that combines exercise, history and enjoyment. Stops include Pöckstein Castle, the Bishop's Castle in Straßburg, the church in Lieding with its memorial to Imma, Hemma's grandmother, and, as a highlight, Gurk Cathedral with its 100-column crypt and the tomb of Saint Hemma. Afer a short stop at the Romanesque parish church in Zweinitz, the group returns to Friesach in the late afernoon.

4. Issuing conditions: The Wörthersee Plus Card is free of charge by certain accommodation facilities for the duration of stay and cannot be acquired by purchase.
5. Validity conditions: The Wörthersee Plus Card is non-transferable and is only valid in conjunction with valid photo identification. All Wörthersee Plus Card services can therefore be used exclusively by the named holder within the Wörthersee Plus Card validity period (promotion period).
The promotion period, within which guests can take advantage of the services afer purchasing the Wörthersee Plus Card, is defined in the annually issued Wörthersee Plus Card brochure. The validity period of each Wörthersee Plus Card is determinded by the purchased service package.
The Wörthersee Plus Card and its service packages are valid for the calendar year of their purchase. No refund is applicable for costs for unused or only partly used cards and service packages.
6. Use: In order to obtain Wörthersee Plus Card benefits, the card holder shows his Wörthersee Plus Card to the respective partner, who will check the validity. The card holder is obligated to show valid photo identification upon request. If the card holder is not able to do so, Wörthersee Plus Card services can be refused.
7. Misuse: In case of misuse or suspected misuse the individual partners are entitled and obligated to confiscate the card without compensation.
Transferring the Wörthersee Plus Card to a third person is not allowed and may result in consequences under criminal law!
8. Cards for children: The age group discounts are based on the birth year indicated in the Wörthersee Plus Card borchure for the respective calender year.
9. Use of personal data: With the purchase of the Wörthersee Plus Card the card holder expressly agrees that his personal data (name, date of birth, postal and email address and phone number) may be passed to the Region Wörthersee-Rosental Tourismus GmbH.
The card holder furthermore agrees to receive information from the cooperation partner via phone, fax, e-mail and SMS for advertising purposes, direct advertising or in the form of bulk mail about current subscription ofer, books, leisure and cultural events. The card holder is entitled to revoke his approval to the use of personal data at any time in written form.
10. Thef/ loss: In case of thef or loss of the card, the guest can report this occurrence to any issuing ofice. The Region Wörthersee-Rosental Tourismus GmbH and its cooperation partner are not liable in case of thef or loss
11. Applicable law / legal venue: Any legal relationships between the Region Wörthersee-Rosental Tourismus GmbH and the card holder are exclusively subject to Austrian law except for the UN law of sale (UNCITRAL) and the reference provisions of the conflict of laws (IPRG).
Any legal dispute emerging from or being related to the legal relationships between the Region Wörthersee-Rosental Tourismus GmbH and the card holder, the responsibility of the court responsible for Villach, Austria is agreed.
