The Indians won this year's state title 63-45 in their first appearance in school history in the state finals.

ongratulations to the Pecatonica HS girls’ basketball team for winning the 1A State Championship. Led by Head Coach Dan Rosenstiel, the team made history as the first Pecatonica HS girls’ basketball team to win a State Championship in the 90-year school history. Dan is also a Special Education teacher and has been Head Coach for the past 3 years. The team finished this season with a record 32 wins and 6 losses. Interestingly, this year, 5 sets of sisters were on the team!

best part of the season was when she and Maddy were on the court playing at the same time.

Maddy Tipton (Fr) has been playing basketball since 5th grade. This year she ramped up her defensive skills which had a huge impact on the outcome of the games.

Delaney Handy (Jr) has been playing basketball for the past 11 years. Her special memory from the season is playing games on the bus with the coaches and her teammates.

Fiona Handy (Fr) has been playing basketball for the past 6 years. Her favorite memory was celebrating with her team in the locker room after big wins. Both Delaney and Fiona want to thank the coaches, Jess the trainer, their teammates and George Washington for an awesome season!

Elaina Rager headlines Illinois Media All-State Teams as 1-A Player of the Year

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Members of the media from around Illinois voted for their All-State teams, a highly-selective process comprising just ten players in each class, a first team and a second team. The top vote-getter in each class is named the Steve Tappa Player of the Year, named for the man who was the driving force behind both the polls and the All-State teams in recent years after the Associated Press stopped doing them. Tappa died last summer, so the award was created to honor his legacy and keep his memory alive, as he helped make sure high school athletes around the state got the recognition they deserved.

In the Rockford area, Pecatonica's Elaina Rager earned the 1-A Steve Tappa Player of the Year Award, after breaking school records and leading her team to a state championship. She was the top vote-getter in the 1-A polls!

Looking for your best safety tips or ideas!

Winners will be selected from all entries received no later than May 15, 2025. We will then select three winners which will be published individually in the June, July and August Westlake Villagers. Residents of all ages are encouraged to submit a safety tip. Limit of one tip per person or household, in order to give as many residents as possible an opportunity to participate. A Note from the Board: Spring is in the Air at Westlake Village

We are looking forward to a wonderful start to the spring season at Westlake Village! And are excited to share a few updates to our community that the board has been working on this winter.

New Landscaping Services

We are pleased to announce that Siebert Landscaping, our newly contracted landscaping company, will be starting work soon. Their efforts will begin with a comprehensive spring cleanup, ensuring our common areas look their best. Ongoing upkeep and care of the landscaping will keep Westlake Village beautiful throughout the year. Be sure to let Gina or one of the board members know if you see areas that need attention.

Playground Equipment Fixes

Minor repairs and improvements to the playground equipment will be installed this spring ensuring a safer environment for our children.

Open Discussion Minutes

Call to Order: 7:15pm

Eric stated at the beginning of the meeting quorum was not met. This will not be an official board meeting but a general discussion. The board still felt that the residents would give constructive feedback on the proposed Red Book changes.

Open Discussion -

Proposed changes to Redbook: Section IV: Vehicle and Traffic Regulations: 4.2 Parking

C: Commercial vehicles parking in driveways. Owners of Commercial Vehicles will be invited to an open meeting to discuss.

Feedback we received: no one expressed opposition to allowing commercial vehicles and the audience was in favor of revising the Bluebook to allow. We need to schedule a meeting with the board and owners of commercial vehicles along with other interested parties as soon as possible. Defining what is and what is not going to be allowed is going to be the most important part of this discussion

Section VI: Property Maintenance Regulations:

6.1. Street Appearance: The front (side street) of every home, condominium and townhome along with the front yard, back yard, side yard and driveway shall be kept neat and tidy to present a positive appearance. All green spaces, including

Feedback received: someone suggested we use the term grass or lawn instead of vegetation. There was discussion about AC Johnson and the mowing of the vacant lots, how often. Gina said twice a season (Governed by Winnebago County ordinance?).

7.1 Home Construction and Landscaping requirements.

7.1 Appendix, C vi: Free standing sheds are not allowed. This will be enforced. No sheds of any type will be approved.

Feedback received: There are sheds/structures that have been ARC approved and must be in compliance with that agreement if not discussion of removal.

7.4 H Yard Lights. We are well aware a good majority of homes no longer have the post mounted mailbox lights for a variety of reasons. We want to encourage residents to utilize solar post lights. If residents desire, the HOA could look into purchasing in a lot of these and offer to residents for cost.

Feedback received: No discussion

7.5 B Political signs, flags or other similar media are allowable 30 days prior to an election but must be removed within 2 days after such election. Political signs, flags and other similar media shall not exceed 30” high x 30” wide. No more than one sign per candidate shall be permitted on a resident’s personal property. Property to include yet not limited to house, yard, mailbox, and patio/deck. Continued flying of flags after 2 days is not permitted and will be subject to fine.

Section X: Enforcement of Red Book:

Feedback we received: No one was in opposition to changing the language. One person said he agreed with Eric that Westlake

be considered for getting the majority votes need to update/ make changes to the bluebook, for example, the 40# dogs, the HP limit on boats, and commercial vehicles.

Synopsis: With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.
