Hilltoppers prepare to face Southern Miss in New Orleans Bowl

WKU Football travels to New Orleans to take on Southern Miss in the 2025 New Orleans Bowl at the Caesars Superdome on Dec. 23. The Hilltoppers return to action after a narrow 37-34 loss to Jacksonville State in their final regular-season game. Graduate running back La’vell Wright rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns, becoming only the second Hilltopper to rush for 100 yards this season. Freshman quarterback Rodney Tisdale Jr. will start for the Hilltoppers in his first career bowl game following a challenging outing against the Gamecocks, throwing for 180 yards and an interception. A 3-pointer from Tulsa guard Myles Barnstable with one second left sunk WKU Men’s Basketball, falling 82-81 to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
Grant Newell did everything he could, totaling a season-high 28 points and 9 rebounds to lead the scoring for the Hilltoppers. Armelo Boone totaled 16 points and 12 rebounds, and sophomore guard Teagon Moore added 15 points and nine rebounds. Read more by Austin Rice
Late foul gives Chattanooga comeback victory over Lady Toppers

WKU Women’s Basketball gave up a six-point lead in the last two minutes of the game, falling 59-58 against the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. In a game where the Lady Toppers led for the majority of the game, the Mocs used a 34-point second half to climb back and complete the comeback. With 1.5 seconds of regulation left, junior guard Caia Elisaldez solidified a Mocs victory, finishing on a contact foul and capitalizing from the charity stripe. WKU only trailed the Mocs once before the final minutes of the game. Read more by Jamie Jamison
Maynard earns All-America honors

WKU football punter Cole Maynard was named Associated Press AllAmerica First Team punter, the outlet announced Monday.
Maynard’s recognition marks the first WKU player to be named AP First Team All-America since Buster Ashley in 2004, and the first player awarded All-America status since Jerreth Sterns was named Associated Press All-America Second Team in 2021. Maynard was named to the Walter Camp All-America Second team on Friday, the program’s first player to receive Walter Camp honors since running back Bobby Rainey in 2011. Read more by Austin Rice
