A 2-0 victory over New Mexico State Sunday secured WKU Soccer a top-three seed in Conference USA in its final home regular season game.
The Hilltoppers capitalized on many opportunities in the first period, despite heavy winds and temperatures below 60, threatening to slow them down.
Junior midfielder Georgia Lipais opened the scoring for the Hilltoppers, converting on a clean touch pass from graduate forward Danielle Lewin. Moments later, freshman forward Makenna Egan delivered a quick strike that slipped behind the nets. Lipais has racked up a staggering eight goals this season, and rising freshman sensation Egan added five herself.
