WKU Staff Senate held its first meeting of the fall semester on Wednesday, inviting WKU President Timothy Caboni to answer questions. The meeting began with silence as staff members bowed their heads and reminisced on the life of Rodney Hounshell, the WKU inventory control coordinator who passed away on Monday. Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity suspends WKU chapter
The Delta Tau Delta Fraternity Arch Chapter on Committee Standards suspended WKU Epsilon Xi’s DTD chapter and withdrew the chapter’s charter on Aug. 19 after facing significant financial and operational issues, according to an email sent by DTD International Fraternity CEO Jack Kreman to DTD Southern Division Vice President Derek Olive. DTD is the second WKU fraternity chapter this year to be suspended from the university, following Kappa Sigma’s five year suspension in April. Unlike with Kappa Sigma, though, DTD’s suspension was not a university decision, according to Interim Director of Student Activities Andrew Rash. Read more by Abigail Vickers
DiscoverFest brings together departments, organizations and clubs

WKU Student Activities organized its annual DiscoverFest on Wednesday in Centennial Mall, bringing together student-led organizations and clubs across campus for an afternoon of engagement. Various university departments, Greek organizations and other clubs on the Hill tabled at DiscoverFest from 2 to 4 p.m. to try and recruit new student members. Read more by Abigail Vickers
Burn ban issued for Bowling Green and Warren County
Local officials issued an immediate burn ban on Sept. 2 for Bowling Green and Warren County following prolonged dry conditions and heightened fire danger across the region. Read more by David Quintanilla

WKU Soccer prepares for its first of three road matches to start the month, this Thursday against DePaul. In their last match, the Hilltoppers secured a 2-0 win over Union on Aug. 27 that marked back-to-back wins, advancing to 3-0-2 on the young season. Read more by Jonah Moore
