Victory Vaka joins MTSU amid WKU Football controversy
Former WKU Football defensive tackle Victory Vaka commits to rival Middle Tennessee State University. Vaka has been at the center of controversy after being dismissed from WKU following the death of his mother. Vaka was dismissed due to a “failure to report,” therefore leaving him without any eligibility. Read more by Peyton Reid

Hilltoppers help incoming students navigate first day of
classes

Hilltoppers welcomed, directed and photographed incoming students at various stations across campus Monday for the first day of classes. Students could go to designated tents across campus to get maps, bus schedules or Topper Directions to class. Students could also get refreshments, snacks or have their photos taken with signs to commemorate their first day of classes. Read more by Abigail Vickers
Squishies, smiles and support at BWOW event

Black Women of Western held an event this week that gave students a chance to relax, connect and feel at home on campus. Founded in 2016, BWOW was created to build a supportive community centered on sisterhood, mentorship, empowerment, and authenticity for African American female students across WKU’s campus. The organization hosted the event Monday at Downing Student Union Nite class, giving students a chance to make squishies and connect with each other. Read more by Coumba Cisse
