WKU attorney updates staff regarding dorm litigation

WKU’s general counsel answered questions about the university’s ongoing dorm situation from members of the Staff Senate on Wednesday. Andrea Anderson, WKU’s general counsel, began the discussion by showing renderings of the new dorm building and discussing the first phase of the project, which includes the demolition of Hugh Poland Hall and Douglas Keen Hall, as well as The Den restaurant and Pit Stop convenience store. Provost shares WKU Global restructuring changes

On August 3, WKU Provost Bud Fischer shared the organizational changes for WKU’s Office of Global Learning and International Affairs instituted on July 1. In an email sent to WKU Faculty and Staff, Fischer provided information on the GLIA Review Committee that informed the restructuring, as well as the process and recommendations given. Ambassador Academy opens applications for WKU students

The city of Bowling Green has opened applications for a program designed to connect WKU students more deeply with their local community. The BGKY Ambassador Academy is beginning applications for its second year. Students who get accepted into this program can expect to go “behind the scenes” of downtown venues and businesses, according to Telia Butler, Downtown Development Coordinator for Bowling Green. History professor Patti Minter appointed to Kentucky Board of Education

WKU history professor Patti Minter was appointed to Kentucky’s Board of Education as part of Gov. Andy Beshear’s recent appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions. According to a press release from Beshear’s office on July 31, Minter will serve a term on the board until April 14, 2030. She will be replacing at-large member and former University of Kentucky president Lee Todd, whose term expired in April. See more by Josh Baumgardner

WKU Women’s Basketball secures a familiar face as senior guard Josie Gilvin commits to the Lady Toppers following one season at the University of Kentucky according to On3. Gilvin enrolled her name in the transfer portal in April in hopes of being granted a fifth year of eligibility due to a court ruling. See more by Peyton Reid
Kentucky Museum hosts artist talk for Black Experience exhibit

As audience members quietly listened, three of Kentucky’s recognized artists participated in the Kentucky Museum’s artist talk for the “Celebrating the Black Experience” exhibit. In recognition of the Kentucky Arts Council traveling exhibit “Celebrating the Black Experience”, the Kentucky Museum held an artist talk on July 30. Moderated by Bowling Green artist Alice Gatewood Waddell, the talk featured Kim Dixon and Ken Burney, two of the artists participating in the exhibit. See more by Diego Alcaraz-Monje
