What a game, what a performance, what a result. Our Vipers took an early lead but, primarily down to the fantastic boot of their 12, we found ourselves 7 : 21 down at half time. In the second half our youth and fitness came to the fore, overcoming Hungerford’s size and intimidatory tactics, our boys played some brilliant rugby and rightly came away with the win. Vipers 24-21 Hungerford 1st XV. Our points came from: Tries, Basil Smith, Jacob Holland, Jack Daubeney and a penalty try which was robbed from George Smith who had touched down. A conversion from Ben Dilks completed the picture. Seth Savage, earned himself a yellow whilst Ben Dilks earned a well-deserved Man of the Match. No game this weekend, our boys are next in action on the 11 April on the road to Didcot, a big ask but the boys will be up for it. th

On this day in 1964 Radio Caroline started transmitting from MV Caroline, originally MV Fredericia, off the coast of Suffolk. Radio Caroline was the first true pirate radio station and over the years has entertained its many fans and annoyed many governments. The film, ‘The Boat that Rocks,’ whilst a work of fiction, includes references to the relationship between the radio station and the government.
Last night I lost my wife’s audio book. Now I’ll never hear the end of it!

On Saturday, as a precursor to the main event, our Wizards will be walking out against Newbury Walkers. Last time out the Wizards managed an away win at Banbury, it would be great to muster a win on home turf in front of the Witney faithful. Why not get up Hailey Road early to catch all the action, and if the thought of 14 neo octogenarians strutting their stuff on the first team pitch doesn’t get you motivated, the bar will be open!

Be over 60 with a pacemaker!
