On Thursday, 29th May, WISSOC and SCISOC joined forces for a collaborative study session.
The space was filled with good vibes, focused minds, and a strong sense of community. Whether attendees were revising for finals or just getting started on assignments, everyone found a spot to feel productive and connected.
And of course, no study session is complete without food! �� Attendees enjoyed delicious free pizza and pides, plus adorable study packs that added a little joy to the grind. A huge thank you to everyone who came along – and to SCISOC for collaborating with us on this wholesome, stress-busting event. Good luck with the rest of the semester – you’ve got this! ��

STUDY BUDDY
Find a study buddy who gets it sometimes you just need someone to keep you on track, swap notes with, and celebrate those small wins together. Plus, studying feels a lot less like a solo mission when you've got good company!
REWARD YOURSELF
Treat yourself when you hit those study goal. Whether it’s a fancy coffee, a face mask, or a movie night, A little reward can go a long way in keeping the study grind fun and sustainable.
REFLECT ON YOUR STUDY PLANS
Don’t just set a study plan and forget it take a minute every few days to check in with yourself. Are you keeping up okay? Do you need to tweak your schedule, or are you smashing it?
GET SOME MOVEMENT IN
Step away from the books and get your body moving just 15 minutes outside can boost your energy, clear your head, and get you back to the books feeling refreshed. Bonus points if you grab a study buddy and walk together!
DON’T FORGET TO SLEEP AND EAT WELL
Fuel your brain! Good sleep and nourishing meals are non-negotiable when you’re smashing study goals. Think of it as self-care and study care.

Opportunities for research students at the Children’s Medical Research Institute
Are you passionate about making a difference in paediatric health? The Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) offers a range of exciting opportunities for students interested in groundbreaking research in areas such as cancer, genomics and stem cell medicine.
Located in Westmead, CMRI is a leading non-profit organisation known for its annual Jeans for Genes Day fundraising campaign each August. The institute provides summer scholarships for science or medical students in their first year or beyond. These scholarships involve a minimum of eight weeks of hands-on laboratory experience between mid-November and February. Applications open August 28 and close October 1.
Students holding a science-related degree can also complete their Honours research at CRMI, which is part of Australia’s largest health and biomedical research precinct.
