great in your face dialogue, sleazy characters, corrupt cops, big shootouts, and everything else you can cram into an hour and 48 minutes. Ah, the joy! There’s one more element I didn’t expect, a star-making performance by Alexis Louder – remember this name because you’re going to see it a lot. She steals the show from the very first scene and powerfully carries that weight throughout the film. That’s quite a feat when you’re up against the likes of Gerard Butler and Frank Grillo, but one she seems born to deliver. Here’s the storyline… Finding himself in the New Mexico desert with no place left to run, con artist Teddy Murretto (Grillo) devises a plan to save himself from lethal hit man Bob Viddick (Butler). The plan is simple: get arrested and have the police protect you. So he sucker punches Valerie Young (Louder), a rookie cop, and winds up in the slammer. Meanwhile, Viddick, who was watching it go down, arranges to get arrested for drunk driving to also get into jail and find a way to assassinate Teddy. What neither of the bad guys realizes is the simple fact that rookie cop Valerie herself is extremely lethal, and she intends to stand her ground against them and the other psychopath (Huss) who shows up. It becomes a raging torrent of exploding mayhem that’s just a delight to see. If you ‘check your brain at the door’ and just go with the action, you’ll love the fun each of the stars are having eating up the scenery like it’s a prime steak. You rarely get to see that anymore.

I’ve been Jonesing for a good action film for quite some time. Due to the COVID -19 pandemic, most film production came to a halt for over a year and left a gaping hole in that genre. Not that there aren’t some decent action films on streaming venues, mostly dubbed and from other countries, but there’s been a lack of real gut-punching American made dog-eat-dog action films. So here comes Copshop, a virtual treasure trove of action delights. It is just loaded with rich over-the-top action, some
As always, Butler is great, though this time he lets the situation carry the ball, and Grillo turns out to be the perfect foil for him. They make a great cinematic team. I’d like to see them do more together. However, the absolute joy of the film for me was watching Alexis Louder steal the entire film from them. Now, I have to go back and see her in The Tomorrow War and Watchmen to grasp what I missed. I also have director Joe Carnahan’s films on my got-to-see list. He did a masterful job delivering the goods on this one. It’s probably not the first time. My take… If you just sit back and take Copshop for what it is, a good American action flick, you’ll find it one big exciting ride from start to finish. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you get these symptoms: skin or the white part of your eyes turns yellow, dark “tea-colored” urine, light-colored stools, loss of appetite for several days or longer, nausea, or stomach-area pain. The most common side effects of BIKTARVY in clinical studies were diarrhea (6%), nausea (6%), and headache (5%).
Worsening of hepatitis B (HBV) infection. Your healthcare provider will test you for HBV. If you have both HIV-1 and HBV, your HBV may suddenly get worse if you stop taking BIKTARVY. Do not stop taking BIKTARVY without first talking to your healthcare provider, as they will need to check your health regularly for several months, and may give you HBV medicine.
ABOUT BIKTARVY BIKTARVY is a complete, 1-pill, once-a-day prescription medicine used to treat HIV-1 in adults and children who weigh at least 55 pounds. It can either be used in people who have never taken HIV-1 medicines before, or people who are replacing their current HIV-1 medicines and whose healthcare provider determines they meet certain requirements. BIKTARVY does not cure HIV-1 or AIDS. HIV-1 is the virus that causes AIDS. Do NOT take BIKTARVY if you also take a medicine that contains: dofetilide rifampin any other medicines to treat HIV-1
BEFORE TAKING BIKTARVY Tell your healthcare provider if you: Have or have had any kidney or liver problems, including hepatitis infection. Have any other health problems. I was very happy I attended several of the events, the Parade and the Festival – including an exceptional Saturday performance by Paulina Rubio. It was very nice to see old and new friends having such a great time proudly celebrating our community. A shout out to my friends Luis Morera, Billy Kemp, and Hilton Wolman, who produced an outstanding URGE Miami Beach Pride party on Saturday night of Pride weekend. The party rocked, the DJs were excellent, the dancers were really hot and the light show was really impressive. Also, congratulations to the Miami Beach Pride team on a great job. This week, we bring you our annual photo albums from Miami Beach Pride, including the SOAK Pool Party, Festival, Parade and URGE Miami Beach Pride party. The SOAK Pool Party at the The Confidante Miami Beach hotel, was a great way to kick off Pride in Miami Beach style on Sunday, September 12. My friends and I danced in VIP to the sets by DJs Ralphi Rosario and TONYYNOT, while sipping Tito’s vodka cocktails and having light bites with a lovely view from the Carmen Miranda Ballroom Terrace overlooking the beautiful pool deck and the ocean. After celebrating Pride, it is now time to get ready for two other upcoming community events. The 13th annual OUTshine Film Festival Fort Lauderdale edition, taking place October 14-24, will bring us wonderful LGBTQ+ cinema, starting with the opening film Firebird, screened in the IMAX theatre at the Museum of Discovery & Science. The 25th National LGBTQ Task Force Gala will take place on Saturday, October 23, in the newly renovated Grand Ballroom at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The evening will include delicious food and drinks, an expansive auction, live entertainment, an awards ceremony, an after-party, and much more. Funds raised at the 25th Gala will support the Task Force’s ‘All of Me, All the Time’ campaign, which is a nationwide effort to educate elected officials and the general public about the urgent need for federal non-discrimination protections. Proceeds from the Gala will also support our local LGBTQ Community. Robin Schwartz, an activist and community leader who has served the LGBTQ community in multiple capacities over the past 20 years, will receive the 2021 Eddy McIntyre Community Service Award. THE 13TH ANNUAL OUTSHINE FILM FESTIVAL FORT LAUDERDALE EDITION If you love films, get ready to watch some outstanding LGBTQ+ cinema during this year ’s 13th annual OUTshine Film Festival Fort Lauderdale edition taking place October 14-24. The Festival returns with several must watch films and fun events for our community to get together. It launches with an opening night celebration at the Museum of Discovery & Science and the opening film Firebird, a touching and romantic story about two Soviet Air Force pilots who navigate the precarious line between friendship and a forbidden love, screened in the museum’s IMAX theatre. OUTshine Executive Director Victor Gimenez tells Wire Magazine why we should all attend the Festival. Rafa Carvajal: Why should our readers purchase passes and tickets to watch the films being showcased at this year's OUTshine Fort Lauderdale edition? Victor Gimenez: The short answer is the films are incredible. The long answer is we have a great diversity of films – comedy, drama, romance, suspense, domestic, international, documentaries. You have a choice to watch the films in person or at home, and the pass offers you great value for the money: 10 films for $75, which is a $45 savings! Put simply, we have something for YOU. RC: What are the highlights of the upcoming Festival? VG: First, that we are hybrid. We have 35 in person screenings and 39 virtual at home screenings. Second, our opening night film Firebird is on the IMAX screen at the Museum of Discovery & Science with the party in the Aviation Exhibit at the museum on Thursday, October 14th. Star/co-writer Tom Prior and Director/co-writer Peeter Rebane will be in attendance. Third, we got Mayor Pete as our spotlight film on Saturday, October 16th with an after party at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort Sky Terrace. RC: In your opinion, which Festival films are a must see this year? VG: Opening night film Firebird and spotlight Mayor Pete. Add to that list the men's spotlight film Mascarpone, the sneak preview of The Swimmer, Boy Culture: The Series, the documentary Boulevard! A Hollywood Story, and my pick for the Festival, Not Knowing. Not Knowing
RC: Are the films being shown in the theater or can they also be watched at home? VG: You can watch the films in person or at home. We have 35 in person films of which 30 are available at home, plus another nine virtual only offerings. On the big screen or at home, find your outlet and plug into your comfort zone. RC: Why do you think LGBTQ+ films are important to watch? VG: Representation matters and our history matters. Films made for an LGBTQ+ audience are not the same as those made for a mainstream audience. You will see your story and yourself up on the big screen. And you will see and learn our history as told and shared by members of our community. Boy Culture: The Series
RC: The Festival is known for hosting some fun parties in the past. What Fort Lauderdale Edition parties do you recommend for Wire Magazine readers and why? VG: All of them. But if you can't make them all then opening night on October 14th, men's spotlight on the 15th, and centerpiece on the 21st.

RC: What makes the OUTshine Film Festival Fort Lauderdale a unique event for the LGBTQ+ community? VG: It is a very communal event, where we will all gather together to watch the same story, share the same experience, and afterward talk about what you felt with friends and strangers. We will all do that more than one time. When we get together at Festival events it is so much easier to talk to someone because you've just seen them in the theater or at other screenings, and you have something to talk to them about and share with them. More than any other event in our community, the Festival allows you time to get to know new people. The Swimmer
RC: What else would you like to share with Wire Magazine's readers? VG: Take advantage of what we have to offer by watching a few films you normally wouldn't from the comfort of your home, and take advantage of what we have to offer and join us in person for the type of films you normally would like.

Enjoy! Rafa Car vajal: Where are you originally from and where do you live? Marcos Reis: I'm originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and I currently live in Los Angeles. RC: What do you do for work? MR: I'm a digital designer for a casting company, and I just recently started developing an online business as a fitness coach.

RC: What is the most important fitness tip that you would recommend to our readers? MR: It is to include cardiorespiratory training in their workouts in case they are not already doing it. Structured exercise is highly beneficial, but improvement in cardiorespiratory fitness is related to a reduction in premature death from all causes. Considering heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States, it is crucial to do cardiorespiratory training on top of a regular workout routine.

RC: What are your top three favorite exercises to stay in shape? MR: When it comes to staying in shape, it is vital to challenge all aspects of our fitness capacity. That means doing things that will improve our stability, endurance, strength and power. Some of the exercises that include all these components are squats, push-ups to side plank and pull-ups. RC: Describe yourself in three words. MR: I'm super easy-going, empathetic and very loyal. RC: What is your favorite food? MR: Mediterranean food.

RC: Who is the person that inspires you the most? Why? MR: My mother is definitely the person who has inspired me the most in life. She was extremely kind, selfless, determined and exceedingly resilient. Even though she had cancer for so many years, she never gave up. She was always happy. She never stopped doing the things that were important to her, and, above it all, she never changed her beliefs. She was very spiritual and devoted to God. RC: What do you enjoy the most about modeling for photography? MR: Like with any other form of art, photography gives the possibility of creating something that didn't exist before. Or maybe just reinventing old concepts into something new. Being part of these processes brings me a lot of joy and fulfillment. And, of course, I love trying new outfits and exploring new ways to use them. RC: What is your biggest dream that you want to achieve? MR: Buy a house near the beach.

RC: What is your current struggle? MR: My current struggle is to help my family stay well and healthy back in Brazil. RC: Is there anything else you would like to share with Wire Magazine readers? MR: It is not too late to save our planet if we start acting now. If there are 100 things that we could do to reduce the environmental issues, by doing at least ten percent of it, like separating our trash, reusing plastic, saving water, etc., it would already be very beneficial. The way nature recovered during the lockdown, when we were at the peak of the pandemic, is evidence of it. On the heels of this latest extraordinary success, they are getting ready for the URGE Miami Thanksgiving Festival debuting Thanksgiving weekend, November 26-29. The Festival will host thousands of gay men from across the USA in the beautiful, sun-drenched shores of South Beach. URGE Miami Thanksgiving Festival is being produced by Luis Morera, Billy Kemp and Hilton Wolman, as a massive three-night, four-day extravaganza featuring several of the world’s most famous circuit DJs and performers, including Isaac Escalante, Renato Cecin, Aron, Alex Lo, Joe Gauthreaux, Phil Romano, Morabito, Suri, and more to be announced. Given the current COVID-19 travel rules, URGE Miami Thanksgiving Festival is focusing on domestic travelers, but will also welcome any tourists from around the world who are able to attend. “We are billing this year’s event as the ultimate holiday reunion for the American gay party community, emphasizing strength and unity,” explained Hilton Wolman. Due to some of the COVID restrictions in Europe that continue to prevent some talent and guests from attending events in the U.S., URGE's producers decided not to bring back the European-based Circuit Festival Miami event that took place in South Beach during Thanksgiving weekend. The URGE Miami Thanksgiving Festival Beach Party will be the signature event of the weekend, taking place in an enlarged area with a wider footprint than before to provide more space on the dancefloor. It will include a stage rising 25 feet into the air, an elevated VIP area with great views of the stage and a full open bar. The Festival opening night party will be a collaboration with Mexico’s Arena Festival and We Party. You can purchase wristband passes on the Festival website urgemiamifestival.com at a discounted price, including the popular 24-hour wristband that includes the Sunday Beach Party, Sunday night event and Monday morning afterhours event. Rafa Carvajal: What are you looking forward to the most about being part of this year's URGE Miami Thanksgiving Festival? DJ Suri: To make people remember my set as one of the best sets they have ever heard. Miami is a place where people know about clubbing and music. It is an amazing place to play music and I want everybody to say "OMG, Suri´s set was everything." RC: Tell our readers about the Festival event you will be deejaying at. DS: I'm gonna be deejaying on Sunday night at the PAPA PARTY by Eliad Cohen. RC: What should we expect from your sets for URGE Miami Thanksgiving Festival? DS: A small, different and dark sound – but not too much. Because Miami is a place where people know about music, you guys have to expect something very special, well built, from classics, reworks. Tribal and strong beats with amazing vocals. I'm not planning to play many vocals at this closing PAPA PARTY. RC: Why is this Festival such a special event? DS: This is going to be a massive production by one of the best producer teams in Miami. Thanksgiving is always a time to celebrate and share love to our community. We are ready to make it the best Festival of the year! RC: What is your message for anyone who is considering attending this year’s Festival? DS: This year's Festival is going to be more special than ever. After all this pandemic, the Festival is gonna bring us joy, happiness and the best memories ever.
