These organizations, who oftentimes rely on their annual events to raise money to fulfill their missions, have had to get creative to continue operating and raising funds. Latinos Salud is having their 2021 ‘Blended’ Anniversary Gala this Saturday, February 27, and will break through the virtual wall to bring guests to the screen, feature excellent live talent and include a special announcement. Planned as a fast-paced evening emceed by NBC 6’s Stephen MacLaughlin, the Gala will include powerful, live performances by both rising star Eli Zamora of The Voice, and Johnny Manuel of America’s Got Talent and The Voice Australia. LATINOS SALUD ANNIVERSARY GALA: FROM SOCIAL BUBBLES TO COMMUNITY
Latinos Salud ‘Blended’ Anniversary Gala, this Saturday, February 27, will break through the virtual wall to bring guests to the screen, feature excellent live talent and include a special announcement. The event will also turn the camera around to share all the fun from safe watch parties taking place all over the region, and is planned as a fast-paced evening emceed by NBC 6’s Stephen MacLaughlin. The night will include powerful, live performances by both rising star Eli Zamora of The Voice, and Johnny Manuel of America’s Got Talent and The Voice Australia. According to Latinos Salud Executive Director Stephen Fallon, “Both artists have agreed to perform songs especially suited to the moment, as we are all impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. Eli is adapting a classic song, which he’s modifying to have lyrics in both English and Spanish. Johnny Manuel’s performance ties right into the meaning behind our special announcement.” Gala tickets are available in three tiers. Premier or VIP guests will gain early access to the silent auction items. Those who coordinate ‘Safe Watch Parties’ may be invited to join the live broadcast, strut your stuff, share your perspective or just make some noise for all of your friends to watch and enjoy. Latinos Salud is also offering free viewing-only tickets to pre-registered guests. All the tickets can be reserved online at latinossalud.org/gala2021. Like all galas, this one is also a fundraiser, so guests are invited to buy silent auction items, or make a direct contribution, through the agency’s Florida AIDS Walk page. amazing singers I’ve ever seen, who will be performing l i v e s t r e a m . RC: How does attendance to the Gala help Latinos Salud fulfill its mission to improve community health? SP: Latinos Salud stayed entirely open for all individuallevel services during the pandemic. Since we absorbed community members who found their usual place of service closed, we actually served more c ommunity members in 2020 than ever before – with over 5,500 HIV tests, among other services. Our program costs increased by 37% last year. Anyone who chooses to upgrade to Premium or VIP ticketing, or who buys one of our silent auction items, or makes a closing donation, will support programs. Thanks to our friends at AHF, all donations will pass through our Florida AIDS Walk team, and come back matched! Latinos Salud is here to support sexual health, and to bring about an end to the HIV and STD epidemics in South Florida. We provide services to everyone, and emphasize gay Latinos because they represent the only group with increasing rates of new HIV cases in South Florida; and in Miami-Dade gay Latinos have by far the largest number of new infections. Gay Latinos and other gay persons of color are not generally getting all the benefits of life saving medications. We lower barriers to health, whether that’s getting you your free HIV test, giving you a free clinic visit to get started on PrEP, screening you for STDs without charge, or staying by your side when you take that first step to treat HIV and control it. It was a box full of numbered little bottles of paint and a canvas outline of a horse in a corral divided up into small sections with numbers corresponding to the paint bottles. It was called Paint By Numbers and it was very popular at that time. All you had to do was fill in the numbers and, voilà, you had yourself a semibeautiful oil painting. You were now an artist!

SG: Do you have a favorite eatery? RG: I pick up breakfast every morning from Java Boys in Wilton Manors. I’ve also been going to brunch at R House in Miami. Those drag queens and servers kill it! SG: Have you been to Palace Bar? RG: Oh yes, Palace is always a great time! I love drag queens. It’s truly an art form.
SG: As a sex worker, can you relate to the plight of drag queens within the gay community and in the world? RG: Definitely. People rarely view what I do as an actual job. They often assume I’m irresponsible or lost. I discuss sex work and the stigma around being a performer on my YouTube channel. SG: Before becoming an OnlyFans sensation, did you work in the local sex scene? RG: I stripped at Johnson’s in Fort Lauderdale. SG: How did OnlyFans change your career? RG: OnlyFans completely changed my life. I quit dancing and started focusing on shooting content. It’s great because I get to be creative. I’m my own boss and I’m able to connect with people all over the world! SG: OnlyFans is like podcasts... everyone has one these days!
