PURSUING GROWTH & GREATNESS 2021 CULTURE BOOK

In June 2021, we unveiled Wireless Vision's new Purpose Statement...

MAKING PEOPLES' LIVES BETTER AS WE PURSUE GROWTH & GREATNESS

When I think about why WV exists...it's about the way we treat people every time and the impact we can make in their lives. It's in the way we treat our employees, the way we connect with our customers, the way we get involved in our communities. That's the purpose and the passion behind WV.

We asked how YOU make peoples' lives better.... I always acknowledge with my team how thankful I am for them and remind them to share how thankful they are for each other. You never know the difference you can make in someone's day just by saying "Thank You."

- CJ YANCEY DSOM, St. Louis North

I aim to help my team grow personally by being there through the challenges life throws at them so they can come out the other side successfully. I want to help them financially so they can afford their first home or brand new car. Most importantly, I help them grow with the company as future leaders at WV.

- walter quiros RSM, Midland & I-84, Idaho

By providing the best service to our customers, I truly believe we make their lives better. They have an awesome team of individuals that they can come see for any of their wireless needs, and most of our customers genuinely love coming to see us, whether it's for help with their phone or just to say hello!

- adam rothstein RSM, Race Track, Orlando

I am the support along the journey for my team, using my failures and lessons learned to fuel the success of my peers. I try to model what it's like to trust the process and get out of your own way. The road is much harder but giving up is NOT AN OPTION!

- Sarah Gomez RSM, Eagan, Minneapolist South

Tales from 'The Dungeon' with WV's First Employee... I’ve been with the company since the very beginning. There were no employees yet, just me and the guys. We started out in the “Dungeon” office. It was in the basement of a small building where Mark & Kevin had offices and Saber worked out of the conference room. I worked in the main part of the office - which had no windows! One of my favorite memories of the Dungeon is the implementation of our first POS/Accounting system with Mark back in 2005. This is not something that either of us had ANY experience with. We had to be on calls on a REBECCA JARBO daily basis with Adele from CellSell. To say that Adele Payroll Manager was annoying would be an understatement. She really got under Mark's skin but it was great quality time that we were able to spend together. The Dungeon is also the first place I ever met Leith, Anthony, Mikey & Brian. When I first met them they were still babies (I’m pretty sure they were all still teenagers). I couldn’t believe that these 4 boys were moving to KC all by themselves to run the first stores, but they killed it. We became very close early on since I was the only other person outside of Saber, Mark & Kevin that they had contact with at the office. I tried to help them out as much as I could. I felt like they were my little brothers and I wanted to make sure they were taken care of.

I did everything at that time, from answering phones and making plane reservations, to daily bookkeeping, ordering supplies and processing payroll...Pretty much anything you can think of!

I started with WV early on because I was already working for Saber in his other business (Fuddruckers). I did some daily bookkeeping and payroll for him at the time. When the guys first started WV, they had no one. When they approached me to help them out at first, I would work part of the time for Fuddruckers and part of the time for WV. After a few months, it was clear that I needed to be working for WV full time. That's when I transitioned over to WV permanently and the rest is history. I can’t believe how far we’ve come. From starting out with a few stores in KC to now over 700 stores (and growing!). I never imagined that the business would be this successful and that I would still be a part of it. I feel like I’ve grown up here with my work family. I started out at WV as a single young woman. Since then, I’ve gotten married, bought a house, had 3 amazing kids and grown up a whole lot.

VALUES IN ACTION I was promoted to Central Region Field Sales Trainer and had an in person visit scheduled with my new leaders to officially welcome me to the team. This visit happened to fall on the same day as my birthday but, without hesitation, I was already getting the day planned and organized to host our guests. I was anxious to spend the day with my new leaders and excited to show them the progress of our MLCM locations in STL. When we met up with all the DSOM's and Ed at our MLCM location I was surprised to walk into balloons, cake and all the excitement around celebrating my promotion as well as my birthday! Ed has never failed to show up.... his support, thoughtfulness, and the way he cares for his people personally and professional is unlike anything I have seen in a leader.

When I think of WV culture I think of Ed... He has a passion for his people, and he makes you feel like you matter.

During the beginning of the pandemic, the office was very quiet with everyone working from home, but one particular day Byrne Doyle happened to be in, which gave an opportunity to chat. As we talked, I noticed all of his Pittsburgh Hockey Memorabilia, upon which I asked if he was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan because my 10 year old son LOVES the Steelers. I told Byrne all about my son, how he loves football, his favorite players, and how he'll watch Steeler highlight reels on YouTube, not to mention his dedicated TikTok fan account for the Steelers (over 3000 followers). My son Ben is even named after Ben Roethlisberger! Without skipping a beat, Byrne said he had season tickets he'd love to share with me so I can take my son to his first Steelers game. He even asked for his TikTok account name so he could follow him as well. Fast forward a year and half later with fans able to attend the games, I was able to take my son to his first Sunday Night Football game in Pittsburgh to see the Steelers take on Seattle Seahawks. To say my son was beyond excited is an understatement! The kindness and generosity Byrne has shown me and my son is something I could never repay. To make memories with your child, especially ones that are so precious and passionate to them, is absolutely priceless to a parent. Thank you, Byrne!

Don asked me what I was doing for the weekend and I told him that I was going camping for the first time ever. I asked him what type of tent he had because I needed to buy a tent and if Don owns something, you know it's only the best of the best. Instead, he offered to lend me his tent. Although I initially declined because I didn't want to potentially damage his belongings, he was adamant about it being okay. He brought me the tent the next day, some tarps, and even a chair.

The tent looked like it was in perfect condition. The material was made of something fancy so that if it rains, it would stay extra dry, it looked almost heated. It looked like it was going to open 30 feet wide and 20 feet high. It looked like it had ample room for a big bed, tv, and even a chandelier. I could've made this tent my permanent home.

Unfortunately it rained the day I was planning on going so I couldn't use the tent, but overall, I felt very privileged to be allowed to use something Don owned.

Thank you Don!

- Moha Deb SR Reporting Analyst

I was traveling with Collette Charboneau from our L&D Team, who was great at reassuring me that everything would be OK. We were picked up at the airport by the NE DOSO Lawrence Dawood, and made our way to our first store visit. During this time I was glued to my phone, communicating via text with my step daughter getting updates about my husband and his condition, and the series of tests he was undergoing to uncover the issue. During our store visits, I tried my best to stay focused. It was very difficult to not be distracted by updates about my husband, and I was comforted by Lawrence, Collette, and DSOM Lenny, who were doing their best to ease my mind. During lunch, I received news that my husband was being transported by ambulance to the hospital and would likely require emergency surgery. I shared the news with the team that I was with, I called my boss, the VP of HR, Yolanda Royall-Williams to inform her that I unfortunately needed to return home after only being in NY for 3 hours. What happened next I will never forget! Lawrence immediately arranged for my flight back home, Collette activated to cancel my hotel, the level of care and concern that was shown to me by this group was beyond amazing! The comforting words from Yolanda, the level of understanding for the situation and the actions taken to make sure I was taken care of in order to get back home to be with my husband I am beyond grateful for! I received messages from my team, my peers, the NY team after I returned home, all checking on me, as well as my husband. This is truly the definition of culture!! Thank you WV for going above and beyond in showing Passion for People! P.S. After 5 days in the hospital and a few non-surgical treatments my husband was able to come home and has since recovered. I still to this day have co-workers asking about him. I love this extended WV family!

- Janice Farrell-Rawlins field director of people + engagement

passion for our people

I often travel to different parts of the country to spend time in stores with our Field Leadership team. Recently, I planned a field visit to NY. Whenever I travel, I keep in touch with my husband so that he knows I'm safe. He always responds to my messages but when I landed, I noticed that my messages had gone unanswered. Needless to say, I was really worried. When I finally I reached my husband, he told me he was experiencing significant abdominal pain, and was not doing well. My step daughter agreed to drive to our home to check on him and take him to the emergency room to get checked out. This was not the way I had planned to start my trip.

ram essentials! In 2021, Retail Associate Manger (RAM) roles were made available in every single location for the first time in WV history!

That's 770+ new opportunities for growth & development! "To set the new RAM team up for success, we took every single new leader through the RAM Essentials! program which taught them how to be better coaches, both on and off the sales floor, effectively drive individual and team performance, and maintain operational excellence in their stores; all while having serious fun!"

- Sarah Coleman WV Content Delivery and Design Manager RAM Essentials! Lead Trainer

Leadership training was very helpful in my experience. I think our training helped me ease my nerves & set me up on what to expect in the new role as a leader. I learned a lot from training; everything from operations all the way to coaching. Attending has helped me be successful in my current role because it taught me how to go about coaching, being a leader, setting expectations & most importantly have fun and balance everything.

- Jenifer Banuelos RAM 1 Ventura, CA

"I needed to learn more about coaching and these trainings helped me a lot."

- Anahita Abolghasemi RAM 2 Ventura, CA "The RAM Essentials leadership training helped me become a better leader; both inside the store and in my personal life." - Faith Potter Interim RAM Space Coast, FL

What I enjoyed about the RAM Essentials Class is that the trainer, Sarah, was so upbeat and fun! She made the class easy to learn from, created space so we could all ask questions, and was super responsive! It was fun to learn with so many other likeminded individuals and even gain some knowledge from more experienced Leaders. The class allowed me to create a plan and take notes on how to better lead, understand, and stay up beat with my team. - Morgan De Leeuw RAM 2 Tucson, AZ

"What I enjoyed most about the classes is that I gained vital knowledge on leadership that has made me successful in my role. The classes were attentive and interactive and I was able to learn a lot on leadership. " - Shayla Diez RAM 1 Space Coast, FL

This year was unlike any year of Store Leadership Development at WV. From newly acquired stores, to internal promotions, we've held the most Leadership Academy Sessions in one year than we ever have before! We've raised the bar with new training material for practical hands-on experience and our new leaders reset expectations on what it takes to be Best in class. Like many workplaces in 2021, we adapted what it means to train with excellence using a virtual platform, leaving big shoes to fill in 2022!

"Leadership Academy really helped both set the expectation for the RSM role while also sharing best practices on how to be successful in the role. The classes were surprisingly in depth!" - Mark Mendel RSM New jersey, nj "Leadership Academy gave me the tools and resources I needed to build a strong store. The class room engagement made it easy to follow along especially when we got to the operations section. It was a great experience I'd recommend to any leader!" - Bryan Barron RSM ventura, ca

What I enjoyed about the class was all of the trainers, they made it enjoyable to learn again for everyone. What I learned from the training is how to be more efficient for the greater good for all. Being part of RSM Leadership Academy has propelled me forward in ways that my entire team can now benefit from what I learned and pass it on to others who are ready for the next stage in their careers.

BORING BYRNE Who needs a nap? Apparently taking a roadtrip with Byrne is perfect for a snooze!

Caller #5 It was a normal October fall day, the leaves had changed colors, pumpkin spice was in the air. The clock hit 2:00pm, which meant the corporate call was about to begin. People gathered on GoToMeeting to hear all the great things that were going on with WV. But then…something unexpected happened. We had a surprise caller…Caller #5... the grinch came to steal Halloween from our very own SVP, Aaron Tubbs.

We will never be the same.
