The Drumcross Flexible Energy Plant is a 22.5MW site in Livingston, West Lothian. It has been built by Clarke Energy acting as the principal contractor. Once operational Drumcross will supply electricity to SPEN and National Grid during periods of high demand on the electricity network. The plant comprises 5 Jenbacher 4.5MW engines capable of ramping up to full capacity in just 5 minutes. The facility is scheduled for completion in late 2024. Once it is up and running Drumcross will help SPEN and National Grid balance supply and demand by providing backup electricity during periods of high demand or low renewable generation, thereby ensuring a secure supply of electricity for local homes and businesses. Forsa, the company behind the Drumcross project, has successfully developed, financed, and constructed 8 operational sites in GB, with a combined installed capacity of 196MW. It currently has a further 103MW of plant under construction and scheduled to energise over the next 6 months, plus an additional 250MW development pipeline of contracted sites.

DRUMCROSS FLEXIBLE ENERGY PLANT NEARS COMPLETION AT THE SITE NEAR WEST LOTHIAN Forsa is well on its way to achieving its business target of 5-600MW of flexible energy generation capacity in the UK market. Drumcross will soon become the 12th operational site in the Forsa fleet, utilising fast start, high efficiency, H2ready generators. Once operational the site will export 20MW of electricity at short notice to the local distribution network during
times of high demand and low renewable output, efficiently supporting security of supply during the energy transition. A spokesman comments: "Our business operates on a ‘cradle to grave’ principle, meaning that we develop our projects knowing we will be funding and constructing them. "We also construct our projects, knowing that we will be operating them."
