2016 Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show Kicks Off at Zia Gallery Event Benefits Winnetka Community House
WINNETKA, Ill. – On Thursday, May 19th from 6-8pm, The Woman’s Board of Winnetka Community House will be partnering with local fine art gallery Zia Gallery for the very first time to kick off the 2016 Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show, taking place November 4-6. At the Kick-Off Party, the public is invited to join the festivities and celebrate the iconic A + M show with an array of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and desserts, while viewing Zia Gallery’s exclusive photography exhibit, which opens on May 7th . Zia Gallery is located at 548 Chestnut Street, Winnetka.
“In addition to announcing the official launch of our show, we are very excited to reveal two of this year’s guest speakers, who are among the most influential women in today’s world of interior design; Alexa Hampton and India Hicks,” said 2016 Show Chair, Kate Kligora. “Zia Gallery is the perfect place for committee members and the community to gather and build excitement for this year’s show, along with learning more about Alexa and India and their spotlight in the event.”
Though Alexa Hampton and India Hicks will not be at the Kick-Off Party, guests will be able to purchase their bestselling books, Hicks’ Island Style and Hampton’s Decorating in Detail, thanks to The Book Stall at Chestnut Court in Winnetka. Twenty percent of all book sales from that evening will be generously donated to benefit the Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show
The Kick-Off Party will also feature a short presentation by Anne Hughes, Zia Gallery’s manager, who will introduce the gallery’s new photography exhibit, followed by Kligora, who will present the special events and activities planned for this year’s show. The evening will also include a very special performance by young cast members from Children’s Theatre of Winnetka’s sold out play, The Sound of Music.

On Thursday evening, May 19th, The Woman's Board of Winnetka Community House partnered with Winnetka-based Zia Gallery for the very first time to kick off the 2016 Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show, set to take place November 4-6. Guests, including Woman's Board committee members, local Winnetka patrons and sustainers, as well as members of the Board of Governors, enjoyed cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and desserts while viewing Zia Gallery's expansive collection of art.

Guests purchased India and Alexa's best-selling books, Island Style and Decorating in Detail, thanks to The Book Stall at Chestnut Court in Winnetka. Twenty percent of all book sales from the evening were generously donated to the Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show.

Since the combined show's inception in 2009, esteemed dealers from across the country flock to Winnetka to showcase fine examples of American, European, and Asian antiques, as well as pieces from the Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Mid-Century design movements, ranging from the 17th century to the mid-20th century. Offering a wide variety of furniture, jewelry, garden antiques, rugs, fine art and more, the Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show offers something for everyone's taste and budget.
A Preview Party at the Winnetka Community House will open this year's show on Thursday, November 3 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy cocktails and a buffet dinner while getting a sneak-peek at the Show's offerings. Admission is $125 if purchased in advance and $150 if purchased at the door. Preview Party tickets include a three-day pass to the show, which runs throughout the weekend: Friday, November 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday, November 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, November 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Three-day admission is $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Antiques + Modernism Announces Guest Speakers for 2016 Show
Alexa Hampton, India Hicks and Michael Del Piero Present Design Insights and Expertise
WINNETKA, IL – The annual Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show is pleased to announce India Hicks, Alexa Hampton, and Michael Del Piero as guest speakers for the 2016 Show, which takes place Friday, November 4 through Sunday, November 6, 2016. Hampton, Hicks and Del Piero are internationally renowned designers on the forefront of today’s evolving design landscape. These three vibrant women have been the recipients of numerous awards, have authored articles and books, and have influenced the world of fashion and interior design.
Alexa Hampton is the well-known owner and designer of Mark Hampton, LLC. In 1998, Alexa took over the family’s world famous firm and has since completed a wide range of designs for domestic and international projects, from New York City to Hangzhou, China. She is on the board of trustees for the New York School of Interior Design, the New York Landmarks Conservancy and the Institute for Classical Architecture. Alexa will be speaking during the opening night event at Antiques + Modernism on Friday, November 4th
India was born in London, England, and comes from both British and design royalty. Her father was famed interior decorator David Hicks, and her mother is Lady Pamela Hicks, whose father was the last viceroy of India, hence India’s name. Her godfather is the Prince of Wales and India was a bridesmaid at his wedding to Lady Diana. India has produced three lifestyle books and designed collections of bath & beauty products, bedding and jewelry. Most recently, she launched her lifestyle brand: India Hicks. India will be speaking during the Antiques + Modernism luncheon on Saturday, November 5th .
Michael Del Piero founded Michael Del Piero Good Design in 2007. Her fresh approach has garnered accolades from a worldwide and most discerning clientele. Recognized by industry leaders, Michael has been touted by Metropolitan Home as a tastemaker, The New York Times as a style maven, and in 2009 was honored with the distinguished "Ones to Watch" award presented by the Chicago Design Community. Michael's work has appeared in over 350 interior design blogs, as well as national and regional publications. Michael will be the featured speaker during the Antiques + Modernism brunch on Sunday, November 6th .
The Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show takes place at the historic Winnetka Community House (620 Lincoln Avenue, Winnetka).
