Reality check for indies as optimism levels take a hit Despite increasing pessimism, The Wine Merchant’s annual survey finds that almost four in 10 indies expect growth

ptimism levels among indies has

fallen markedly, according to The

Wine Merchant’s annual survey of

independents.

Just 2.2% say they are very optimistic

about increasing sales in the year ahead, compared to 13% in last year’s survey. Thirty-five per cent say they are fairly

optimistic, down from 46% in 2024.
