Taking a Fresh Look at Trash

The town has hired Burns & McDonnell to study residential solid waste services and explore what makes the most sense for the community’s future. That includes evaluating whether Windsor should offer its own municipal trash and recycling service, move to a singlehauler system, or stick with the current setup.

Why now? At least five different trash haulers are operating in Windsor, which means multiple

trucks crisscrossing neighborhoods throughout the week. All that heavy traffic adds wear and tear to local streets, and many residents have noticed there’s rarely a day without a trash truck on the block.

This study will break down the options, weigh costs and impacts, and help the town determine the most efficient, cost-effective, and neighborfriendly path forward.
