Student Services Newsletter July 2026 Dear Colleagues There have been a number of updates to key policies across the three areas of Student Services including, Attendance, Behaviour and Safeguarding. We’ve seen updates to DfE policy in Keeping Children Safe in Education, Suspension and Permanent Exclusion and Working Together to Improve School Attendance (some of which have been released within the last few days). With this in mind we have updated all of the policies associated with these areas including Safeguarding and Child Protection, Behaviour (both Primary and Secondary), Attendance (both Primary and Secondary) and Suspension and Exclusion. Please lookout for these being sent into schools to PAs and Headteachers for schools to amend any contextual elements and then to upload onto the school website. Within this newsletter you will find a section for each of the Student Services areas. Each section aims to bring together all of the key information which is relevant to September. This includes the training slides for DSLs to contextualise for the staff safeguard update, attendance material and policy change headlines - all helping to support The Best September We’ve Ever Had! Each section has links to all of the required documents, please share this with any staff you feel it is applicable to. The Student Services PLC shared drive will operate in exactly the same way next academic year and new folders are being added to ensure all of the documents are compliant with the new guidance. If colleagues need anything Student Services related, please look here first - if what you need isn’t there, let me know and we will ensure it is added! We hope this newsletter brings everything Student Services together in one place and prevents an overload of emails to you over the remaining days. We would like to thank you for your continued support and we look forward to working with you all in the new academic year! Have a wonderful summer! Kind regards Emma Dodds - Head of Student Services Genna Griffiths - Head of Safeguarding Mireia Castells - Attendance Officer at Kingswinford Academy & WAT Attendance Support
