Always eager to expand my art supply collection, I explored grinding earth pigments, mixing with binders and filling tiny seashells, acorn caps and half pans with quiet colors. Studio tables slowly filled with little experiments.
Later, when I pulled the fabrics for a new batik collection, the choices reflected the colors surrounding me, muted and moody. Editing was difficult and the reject pile was as eye-catching as the first pull, it begged to be used as its own separate collection.
