Waffle Cabin / Snoqualmie

Nothing works up an appetite like skiing or snowboarding the mountain. With two locations at the base of The Summit at Snoqualmie (one at Central Summit and the other at West), Waffle Cabin is renowned for their Belgian Sugar Waffle and loaded hot chocolate. Made with dough rather than batter, the waffles are crispy on the outside and warm and soft inside. They’re perfect for an après ski snack or to fuel your next run.

On chilly winter weekends, there’s nothing better than bundling up and heading out for a cozy, satisfying brunch. From savory classics to sweet indulgences, brunch is the ideal way to enjoy a leisurely morning—or afternoon.

Up Bundle Up for

Geraldine’s Counter / Seattle

Named one of “Seattle’s Best Breakfasts” by Seattle Met magazine in 2024, Geraldine’s has been serving up a diverse array of breakfast and lunch favorites in Columbia City for 20 years. Famous for their French toast and cozy atmosphere, Geraldine’s also aims to please with omelettes, pancakes, chicken fried steak & eggs, house-made granola, and a bevy of brunchy cocktails like The Devil Made Me Do It Mary and the Manmosa, a mix of orange juice and Rainier beer.

Blue Buoy / Westport

The Blue Buoy has the seafood brunch favorites you’d expect from a restaurant on the coast, but it really stands out for its delicious vegan and vegetarian dishes. Locals and visitors alike give this spot high marks for top-notch service, hearty breakfasts, and great coffee. You can sit on the dog-friendly patio or in the casual and welcoming dining room. Either way, you’ll enjoy generous portions, views of the marina, and small-town charm.

Calico Cupboard Café & Bakery / Anacortes, Mount Vernon, La Conner

Combining fresh, local ingredients, Calico Cupboard’s variety of pastries, freshbaked bread, and gluten-free options will please any palate. If a mountain-high, cream-cheese-frosting-covered cinnamon roll doesn’t strike your fancy, try the Skagit Hash, Maple Bacon Hearty Griddle Cakes, or Calico Benedict. You’ll find brunch staples like scrambles, country biscuits and gravy, and huevos rancheros, but you’ll kick yourself if you don’t try a buttery croissant or salted caramel brownie. (Maybe just take one for the road.)

à calicocupboardcafe.com

Café Hitchcock / Bainbridge Island

Using ingredients grown, raised, or fished from local sources, Café Hitchcock’s Bainbridge Island location brings the concept of farm-to-table to delicious new heights. Pair organic espresso drinks or house-made smallbatch kombucha with the avocado toast, crab benedict, overnight oats, or fresh-baked pastries for a well-rounded breakfast. After 11:00 AM the bar opens, and you can enjoy an expanded brunch and lunch menu along with an extensive selection of spirits and craft beverages.

à cafehitchcock.com/bainbridgeisland

Rising Tide / Seabrook

What’s better than a beachfront vacation? A beachfront vacation brunch! And the Rising Tide in Seabrook is more than happy to deliver tasty bites, handcrafted cocktails, and good vibes every weekend. Sure-to-please favorites like cornflake-crusted French toast and a selection of benedicts will prepare you for a day of seaside adventure. Or stop by the Tiki pop-up for island-inspired bites like pork katsu or kalbi short ribs and a refreshing Piña Colada.

Fanny’s Restaurant / Marysville

Since 1991, when Pat Shrout opened the restaurant in her mother’s honor (and name), Fanny’s has been making classic American diner food feel homey. Many of the items on the menu come from recipes handed down through generations of Fanny’s family. Menu highlights include the scratch-made taco omelette, a seafood benedict covered in Dungeness crab and Bay shrimp, and Fanny’s famous fries, as well as options for kids and vegetarians. Just a head’s up: the portions are generous, but Fanny’s allows split plates.

à facebook.com/fannysrestaurant/

Maltby Café / Snohomish

At Maltby Café, you can enjoy their award-winning brunch menu all day long. A cinnamon roll the size of a dinner plate at dinner time? Sure! But that’s not why the Maltby Café wins awards year after year. It’s the hearty and scrumptious food in giant portions, friendly servers, fresh-brewed coffee, and country vibes that land them near the top of every “Best of” list and keep folks coming back for more.

Edmonds offers small-town charm with big views. Waterfront strolls, vibrant art galleries, and fresh seafood with a Puget Sound sunset backdrop are yours for the taking. A 30-minute ferry ride from the Kitsap Peninsula and a short drive from Seattle, Edmonds is the perfect blend of coastal beauty, culture, and laid-back Northwest vibes.

exploring EDMONDS

SIP

Edmonds’ oldest coffee shop looks brand new after a recent remodel. But the quality of the coffee and treats, as well as the warmth of the service, remains unchanged. Just steps away from Brackett’s Landing near the Edmonds ferry, everything about Waterfront Coffee Company feels local. Delicious espresso drinks are made from beans roasted at Mukilteo Coffee Roasters and milk from Medosweet Farms in Kent, while their ice cream comes from Snoqualmie Ice Cream. Grab a table inside or out to enjoy the views of the Edmonds Marina

SHOP

Downtown Edmonds is famous for its plentiful shopping options. Whether you’re in the market for new or vintage clothing, books, toys, kitchen and home goods, flowers, jewelry, or art, there’s a shop downtown that has it. When you need a break from all that browsing, stop at Vinbero or Arista Wine Cellars for a glass of wine or one of the salons or spas for a rejuvenating treatment.

SAVOR

Niles Peacock Kitchen & Bar takes your neighborhood pizza and beer joint to internationally renowned heights. Founder Niles Peacock is not only a James Beard recognized mixologist, but he is also trained in pizza making from the oldest and most prestigious pizza school in Italy. Whether you choose Detroit- or New York-style pizza, the crust is made from their 138-year-old sourdough starter and serves as a vehicle for both traditional and bold new tastes. The drink menu offers a selection of creative cocktails and mocktails you won’t want to miss.

SEEK

If you want to get out on the water, Edmonds Marina offers plenty of options. Several whale watching tours and fishing charters take off from the marina. But there’s plenty to see and do for land lubbers as well! Sea lion statues and totem poles, as well as gorgeous views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains, are a feast for the eyes. Marina Beach Park is a great spot to build a sandcastle, look for wildlife, and watch the tide come in and out.

STAY

Whether you’re a large group or a party of two, there are homes of all sizes to rent through VRBO and Airbnb in Edmonds. Many rentals include private backyards, access to nature trails, and are walkable to downtown Edmonds for dining and shopping. The Best Western Plus Edmonds Harbor is a short walk from the waterfront and is a great option for those catching an early whale watching tour or charter from the marina.

Sure, winter’s a great time to hibernate with a blanket and hot cocoa—but don’t get too comfy. This season is bursting with reasons to bundle up and head out: think twinkling lights, festive markets, cultural celebrations, and cheerful fun runs that’ll warm your spirits faster than a mug of mulled wine.
