AFS Students
Jim Neuendorf, our AFS student from Germany, has had many wonderful experiences during his time in America. He began the year living with the Mellows, but has spent the majority of the year with the Ergueta family. “I am part of the family, which is the reason why I do not miss my natural family most of the time.” Jim played soccer in the fall, which helped him make many friends at WFS. “My team and I had a lot of fun during the fall season.” Although Jim has had many great experiences here, the student body has certainly learned some things from him. As one student said, “I have learned what it is like to have a friend from another culture”. He is a friend, and he will be missed.
Joan Hui, our AFS student from Hong Kong, has spent her time in America living with the Murray family. “I don’t really miss my natural family because my host family treats me like their own daughter.” Joan has participated in swimming and has been involved in events such as the art trips to D.C. and New York. Her overall impression of the students at WFS is that “people are very close in this small school. Everyone is very friendly and they always want to know more about you.” She will always treasure her experience as a Friends School student.
