Community News President’s Message Frank Blackstone HOA Board President
Welcome to the new Willowsford HOA newsletter! We’re continually working on finding ways to better communicate with our community and enhance our engagement with our Residents. The Willowsford newsletter gives the Board of Directors a chance to share updates with the community on the work the Board is doing and is addressing. At our August 12th Board meeting, we appointed three members to the Resident Advisory Committee (RAC) for the next year: Gary Sidor returns, and Kelly Dillon and John (Tre) Dwinell joined. The RAC has been very helpful to the Board over the past year, conducting about a dozen polls and surveys and holding regular meetings to provide the Board with additional input from the community on relevant issues. We look forward to continuing that work to guide Board priorities and operational context.
We also discussed: as part of our Capital Improvements Project (CIP), proceeding towards a Willowsford-consistent storage building at the Lodge, and having the RAC reach out as well on other potential CIP improvements; the end of another successful Willowsford Waves season; use of HOA facilities; and potential use of HOA Reserves for the Virginia Gold Lane location. We are considering an updated Reserve Study next year to better position ourselves for the long term.
There are a number of upcoming events for further Resident engagement, and we encourage your attendance, including Willowsford: 101 and Loudoun Supervisor Laura TeKrony’s Data Center Town Hall, both at Sycamore House. We encourage residents to attend the next Board meeting on Wednesday, October 7th, and the Joint HOA-Conservancy Board meeting on October 14th. During the October meetings, the 2027 draft budgets will be presented and discussed. As always, stay classy, Willowsford!
Treasurer’s Corner With school starting up and summer quickly winding down, the HOA enters my favorite time of year: budget season! While the community's first look at the 2027 budget will be released in October, here is a quick recap of the 2026 budget expense breakdown by activity, presented earlier this year at the 2026 Annual Meeting. This is my first message to you in the newest edition of Willowsford Life, a refreshed, reimagined newsletter dedicated to you, the resident families of Willowsford HOA! Fully digital, with eye-catching graphics and up-todate photos, our new newsletter is launching in my favorite time of year…fall! First, a huge thank you to everyone who donated nonperishable foods to the recent Backpack Buddies Food Drive; we weighed in 397 pounds of donations at the Dulles South Food Pantry, and there are kids with full tummies tonight thanks to you! As the holidays approach, our team is looking for additional ways to offer help and hope to needy families near Willowsford. Please keep an eye out for the Thanksgiving Food Drive in upcoming communications. Next, I hope you plan to enjoy the many Lifestyle activities coming up, which include Willowsford: 101, Autumn Fest, the Makers Market, and more!
The Conservancy is doing a bunch of fun, community-building things, too: Family Bonfire & Campover and Wine Down for a Cause are just two of the special programs coming up at the Conservancy in September. Two great teams, working hard to bring that special Willowsford touch to our residents. Check your HOA (willowsfordlife.com) and Conservancy (willowsfordconservancy.org) calendars for dates and specifics! Speaking of teams, our HOA team recently collaborated on a Team Mission Statement, which has been officially adopted by all departments and demonstrates the commitment to “Protect what matters, create what inspires, and serve the community with dedication and pride.” Did you know we have sixteen people on staff to serve the community? Ten full-time and six part-time hospitality folks are working behind the scenes to make Willowsford the most desirable place to live, work, and play! Willowsford: 101 - Come Get Connected Thursday, September 17th | 6 PM Sycamore House There’s always something new to discover at Willowsford! Whether you’re a longtime resident or just getting settled in, Willowsford: 101 is a great way to connect, learn, and meet the people who create your community. Meet staff from across all departments, connect with members of the HOA and Conservancy Boards of Directors, and discover the many resources, amenities, programs, and opportunities available to you as a Willowsford resident.
Turf Care & Aeration Underway Our grounds vendor, Down to Earth, will perform core aeration throughout the community common areas in September as part of our seasonal turf care efforts. This work will also include overseeding and targeted turf repairs in select areas to improve the health, appearance, and overall quality of the common-area turf. Residents may notice some areas looking a little different as the new grass establishes. Areas receiving turf repairs will not be mowed for up to two weeks to give the new seed time to germinate and develop. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore, strengthen, and enhance our community’s turf areas!

End of Pool Season
A Meadow in the Making
As summer comes to a close, so does another wonderful pool season at Willowsford. Be sure to note that the last day of the 2026 extended pool season is Sunday, September 13th .
Have you noticed the small meadow near Grassland Grove and Willowsford Lane? This often-overlooked natural area is now the site of a new native meadow demonstration project, a collaborative effort between the HOA and the Willowsford Conservancy.

Led by the Conservancy’s Assistant Land Stewardship Manager, Sam Adams, this multi-year project will enhance the existing native grasses by introducing additional native grasses and wildflowers, managing invasive plants, and incorporating plants grown right here at the Conservancy’s Native Plant Nursery. The meadow has also served as an outdoor classroom for Girl Scout programs, making it a wonderful example of how the HOA and Conservancy work together to care for and enhance the natural spaces throughout our community. Comprehensive Inspections
Data Center Updates & Discussion
In September, the Community Standards Team will be inspecting the following streets.
Thursday, September 24th |6 PM - 7:30 PM Sycamore House Willowsford is happy to host Laura TeKrony, Little River District Supervisor, for a special Town Hall focused on data center development and related infrastructure projects impacting our community. Residents will hear updates on Data Center Phase 2, Electrical Infrastructure Phase 2, and other county initiatives to address community concerns. Representatives from Yondr will provide an overview of the project, including construction timelines, operations, water and power use, future planning efforts, and measures to minimize impacts on neighboring communities. The Loudoun County Fire Marshal will also be in attendance to discuss inspections and safety oversight and to answer residents' questions about fire safety. A dedicated question-and-answer session will give attendees the opportunity to engage directly with county officials and project representatives. This event is intended for Willowsford residents and provides an opportunity to learn more about ongoing projects, ask questions, and share feedback with community leaders.

“Dive-In” Movie Recap Thank you to everyone who came out in August for our last Pool Dive-In Movie of the season! We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and there was plenty of ice cream, leis, and bubbles to go around. It was the perfect way to wrap up another fun summer at the pool. We’re already looking forward to next season, when we can get our floats back out, jump in the pool, and enjoy another movie under the stars!

Fall Jr. Chef Academy Kids love to bake, and fall is the perfect season to explore delicious new flavors! Junior Chef Academy, a classic Willowsford series, gives young chefs the opportunity to build kitchen confidence, learn new skills, and discover the joy of cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Throughout the series, children will learn how to measure ingredients accurately, read and follow recipes with confidence, work safely in the kitchen, and turn the bounty of the Willowsford Farm harvest into delicious creations. Each week highlights a different seasonal ingredient, with kids preparing both a sweet baking creation to take home and a savory dinner to enjoy. The fun concludes with a special Junior Chef Academy Graduation Celebration! For the finale, the kids will put their skills to the test by hosting and catering their very own celebration, followed by a graduation ceremony recognizing all they have learned and accomplished. Each per-child registration includes an invitation for one special guest to attend the finale and graduation ceremony, giving parents or another special person the opportunity to celebrate their junior chef and share in this memorable milestone.

The club meets once a month for a "show & tell" of recent projects, and members can share tips, tricks, and troubleshooting ideas. On occasion, demos will be performed. Wine Down for a Cause Thursday, October 1st | 5 PM - 7:30 PM The Lodge Parking Lot Join the Conservancy for an evening of local wine, live music, food trucks, family-friendly activities, and community connection. The event benefits the Dulles South Food Pantry. Adult tasting tickets are just $15 through September 27 and include tastings from participating Virginia wineries and a commemorative wine glass. Non-tasting adult tickets are $10, and children 17 and under are free with a ticketed adult.
