A Clear Path provides professional pet waste removal for residential yards, parks, HOAs, and commercial properties throughout Loudoun County. As a locally and veteran-owned company, not a franchise, the focus is simple: helping families enjoy their outdoor spaces without the stress of constantly cleaning up after their dogs. Dog waste left in a yard can create odors, attract pests, and carry harmful bacteria and parasites. With weekly scheduled cleanings, A Clear Path keeps outdoor spaces cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable for everyone.

Willowsford
In Full Bloom
Gratitude for the people who nurture growth — in our homes, our lives, and our community.
“Let
us be grateful to the people who make us happy. They are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”
MARCEL PROUST
Hello, Willowsford Community Residents,
When the trails start filling up again, you know April has arrived. After the quieter rhythm of winter, there is something about seeing neighbors back outside walking, biking, and stopping to chat that

time of year when the first blooms begin to appear, and the whole community seems to stretch toward the sun again.
Spring reminds me that growth rarely happens alone. Just as gardens flourish with steady care, so do we. The people in our lives who encourage us, support us, challenge us, and simply show up help shape our confidence, our perspective, and our direction. Often, we do not even realize how much someone has nurtured us until we look back and see how far we have come.
Here in Willowsford, that spirit is visible everywhere. It shows up in porch conversations, community events, shared volunteer efforts, and the small everyday kindnesses that make this neighborhood feel like home. Growth does not have to be loud to be meaningful. Sometimes it is found in a simple introduction, a recommendation, or a neighbor who checks in.
As you flip through this issue of Stroll Willowsford, you will meet neighbors and discover local businesses that reflect that same spirit of care and connection. Our Preferred Providers, many of whom live right here in Willowsford, make it possible for these pages to reach your home each month. If you are tackling spring projects or simply looking for someone you can trust, I hope you will think of them first and continue sharing your experiences. That word of mouth is what keeps our community strong.

YOUR YARD IS THE MISSING LINK

One of the defining features of Willowsford is something you don’t often see in a residential community: extensive space left for nature. The hundreds of acres of meadows, woodlands, streams, and wetlands in Willowsford function as real habitat, supporting biodiverse ecosystems and providing important services like cleaning air, flood control, and carbon sequestration.
For wildlife, the boundary between this natural space and residential spaces in Willowsford isn’t about property lines but whether it allows them to continue to move, feed, and survive.
When that natural space meets a residential yard planted mostly with turf grass and non-native ornamentals, biodiversity comes to a screeching halt. Without appropriate shelter or food, these resource-barren landscapes act as an impassable wall for wildlife. The habitat ends abruptly, but it doesn’t have to. By choosing to add native plants to your home landscapes, something different happens. The space and land for wildlife don’t fragment; instead, it expands. A phlox or oak in a yard becomes part of the same system as the woodland beyond it. Native forbs and grasses create safe passage for pollinators moving between meadows. Caterpillars feeding on native leaves become the food that sustains nesting birds in the spring. Each yard changes from being a dead end into an essential link.
The shift doesn’t require turning every yard into a wild or unkept space. Small changes like replacing a few ornamental shrubs with natives, planting a native tree, or creating a pocket of native perennials can dramatically increase the value of a yard as habitat. In a community developed around the idea of conservation, landscaping with native plants offers residents a way to participate in that mission every day. Even modest changes can reconnect your home to the surrounding natural systems that make Willowsford so special. Over time, these individual actions compound to create a collective impact that strengthens the entire community.
In 2023, the Conservancy started the Native Nursery at Willowsford to make it easier to source, learn about, and integrate native plants into your landscapes. With spring here, the nursery is teeming with plants that we hope will soon find homes in your gardens and yards. Our team is here to support you along the way. Whether you need help picking plants for a tricky spot in your yard or tips for maintaining them year after year, we want to help! Explore the nursery’s online store today to see what’s growing in our greenhouse and reach out if there are any ways we can support you in your native plant journey.

beautiful; they are part of daily life here. And they belong to all of us. That shared sense of ownership is exactly why the Conservancy created the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) last summer.
The CAC is a group of eleven Willowsford residents who volunteer their time to listen, ask questions, and share community perspectives with the Conservancy (similar to the role that the Resident Advisory Committee plays for the HOA). All eleven applicants were accepted to make sure there was a variety of perspectives. Members represent three of the four villages and range in tenure from less than a year to over ten years. Their role is simple but important: to help ensure that decisions about our land, programs, and priorities reflect the people who live here. They gather feedback from neighbors, discuss issues affecting residents, and provide thoughtful input to Conservancy staff and leadership, helping keep communication open, transparent, and community-centered.
Why It Matters
YOUR VOICE. YOUR COMMUNITY. YOUR CONSERVANCY.

“The CAC was created by the Conservancy because it genuinely wants to hear from residents. It reflects a real commitment to including community perspectives. I chose to participate to help ensure resident input informs decisions that deliver the greatest value from the Conservancy’s work.”
GENE LOUGHRAN, CHAIR (THE
GRANGE)
The CAC helps ensure that community values and everyday experiences inform projects like updating our strategic plan and future efforts like programming, fundraising, and budgeting. Whether it’s trail use, educational programs, volunteer opportunities, or long-term priorities, resident feedback plays a meaningful role in shaping the Conservancy’s work.
Join the Conversation
Have an idea? A concern? A question you’ve never known where to ask? The CAC is a great place to start. CAC meetings are held monthly and are open to all residents. We invite you to attend and share feedback or ask questions. You can also use the QR code below to give us feedback. The CAC invites community feedback during its monthly meetings. Please visit the Conservancy website’s events calendar for information about attending the next scheduled meeting.
“I can’t think of a better way to positively impact our neighborhood than to participate on the CAC. Yes, it benefits our health, property values, and quality of life. But for me (and many other CAC members), the well-being of our local environment is our life’s passion or career. The Conservancy’s mission is what sets Willowsford apart from other developments, and I want to help in any way I can to keep it thriving.”
NAISA BEAUMONT, VICE CHAIR (THE GREENS)

Celebrate With Us
Share your milestones in Stroll!
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR EDITOR KIAAN SARAIYA

HEY WILLOWSFORD! My name is Kiaan Saraiya, and I am a Junior Editor here at Stroll. Recently, I had the opportunity to represent our magazine at the annual Winter Wonderland at the Sycamore House, and I wanted to take a moment to share a bit more about who we are.
Stroll is more than the monthly magazine that shows up in your mailbox. It is a way for us to learn each other’s stories, celebrate shared experiences, and build a stronger sense of community. Through Junior Writers sharing perspectives, features that spotlight neighborhood families, and coverage of events, Stroll captures the voices and moments that make Willowsford special, allowing residents to feel more connected to the place they call home.
What most people don’t realize is that Stroll is open to contributions from every single resident! In fact, as long as you live in our neighborhood, you are welcome and encouraged to submit articles, photos, or ideas to the magazine; we want people to understand that Stroll is a bridge for our community to communicate and share. Even if you have an idea but don’t know how to bring it to life, we have three ways you can get your article featured in Stroll. You can write the article yourself and submit it directly. You can choose to be interviewed by a Junior Writer, who will craft the piece for you. Or you can complete the questionnaire on the Stroll Linktree page, which provides the structure needed to turn your responses into an article by our staff.
Another common misconception is that our cover families are selected by our team; in reality, to be a cover family, all you have to do is ask! We want to let anyone and everyone share their experiences, ensuring that the magazine truly reflects the neighborhood.
Whether you have a story to tell, a milestone to celebrate, an event to highlight, or simply an idea you’d love to see brought to life, we encourage you to get involved. Stroll is best when it represents as many voices as possible, and we would love for you to be one of them!
For more information on sharing in Stroll, visit the Stroll Linktree page at linktr.ee/strollwillowsford or email billie.rose@strollmag.com.

HUNGRY TO SERVE
Feeding faith in action
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER AMELIA MACCHIAROLO
DENTAL CENTER

As spring brings a new season of growth, I’ve been thinking about how we can grow in the way we serve others. This summer, I got to go to the Hungry to Serve Camp, led by Pastor Garrett Wolf from King of Kings Dulles South. It was a whole week focused on serving our community, and I learned so much.
We did a “farm-to-table” experience, which means we saw the whole process of how food can go from being grown to helping people in need. At JK Community Farm in Purcellville, we picked oregano, garlic, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, and more. Everything from the farm gets donated to local food pantries to help families in Loudoun. Our church volunteers there all summer, which makes a big difference.
At the America’s Soup Kitchen (formerly Dulles South Soup Kitchen) and Anna Sudha Kitchen, we helped make meals—chopping veggies and even shaping sausages! Both places serve free meals to people who need them. We also worked at the Dulles South Food Pantry, where we organized

shelves and packed donations for families to take home. With Mobile Hope, we handed out food directly to over 150 families and 600 people at different locations. By the end of camp, I really understood what “farm-to-table” service means. We got to be part of every step—growing, preparing, packing, and serving. I realized that even though the world feels so big, I can make a difference by helping people right here in my community. It really showed me how I can live generously. This year’s Hungry to Serve camp will be June 22-26. For more information, email garrett@kofk.org.

PLUMBING • HEATING • AIR Cardinal
A TRUSTED PARTNER FOR NORTHERN VIRGINIA HOMES
IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA, homes work hard year-round. From winter cold snaps to humid summers, the systems behind the walls—plumbing, heating, and air—are constantly being tested. For homeowners, that reality makes one thing clear: maintaining a home isn’t just about fixing problems as they arise. It’s about building a relationship with a company you can trust to protect your comfort, your investment, and your peace of mind over the long term. That philosophy is at the heart of Cardinal Plumbing Heating & Air. As Mandi Ehman, Cardinal’s Marketing Director, explains, “Cardinal is built for homeowners who want a long-term partner, not just a quick fix.”

Our clients choose us because they value experienced technicians, reliable solutions, and clear communication.”

In a crowded home services market, Cardinal isn’t trying to be everything to everyone—or the cheapest option on the list. Instead, the company focuses on reliability, expertise, and transparency. “We’re honest about the fact that we’re not always the cheapest option, and we’re okay with that,” Ehman says. “Our clients choose us because they value experienced technicians, reliable solutions, and clear communication.”
That clarity resonates with homeowners who want more than a one-time repair. Cardinal’s approach emphasizes preventative maintenance, thoughtful recommendations, and consistency—so clients can feel confident knowing their home systems are being cared for year after year.
From the First Call to the Final Follow-Up
The Cardinal experience is designed to remove stress at every step. From the initial phone call, clients are met with a team that prioritizes responsiveness and personal attention. While an automated system may answer first, a real person is always close by and ready to help.
Homeowners receive a call about 30 minutes before a technician arrives, along with a text that includes the technician’s photo, bio, and a tracking link. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference— eliminating uncertainty and helping homeowners feel prepared.
Once on site, Cardinal technicians take time to explain what’s happening in plain language and treat each home with care. And when the work is finished, the relationship doesn’t end. “After the work is done, we don’t disappear,” Ehman notes,

emphasizing Cardinal’s commitment to follow-up and ongoing support.
When the Whole Team Shows Up
One of the clearest examples of Cardinal’s culture comes from what happens behind the scenes—especially when a job gets complicated. In one recent case, a longtime customer needed gas service late on a Friday afternoon. The repair required hard-to-find parts, but Cardinal’s response was immediate and all hands on deck.
Behind the scenes, office and warehouse staff worked to locate the needed materials, while one of the company’s owners arrived after hours to help complete the job so the customer could have hot water that same night. “When something matters to a customer, it matters to the whole team,” Ehman says. That collaborative mindset is intentional. Technicians are never left to handle complex issues alone; senior techs, managers, and ownership stay actively involved to troubleshoot and find the best solution. “Teamwork drives everything we do,” Ehman emphasizes.
Looking Ahead: Smart Solutions, Personalized Care
As home comfort technology continues to evolve, Cardinal is leaning into smarter, more efficient solutions— without losing sight of what homeowners actually need. Maintenance plans now incorporate preventative care and smart monitoring, helping systems run efficiently and last longer.
Just as important, Cardinal avoids one-size-fits-all recommendations. “We’re focused on matching the solution to the homeowner—not forcing a
one-size-fits-all upgrade,” Ehman explains. From high-efficiency HVAC systems to simpler options that better fit a home and budget, the goal is always the right solution for each family. Interest in whole-home water systems, such as HALO filtration, is also growing among Cardinal’s clients.
A Local Company Rooted in Community
Cardinal’s connection to Northern Virginia goes beyond service calls. In neighborhoods like Willowsford, the company isn’t just advertising— it’s continuing relationships with homeowners they already serve.
That familiarity builds trust, leading to the kind of word-of-mouth recommendations Cardinal values most.
If you’re looking for a plumbing, heating, and air partner who treats your home like a long-term commitment—not a one-time job—Cardinal Plumbing Heating & Air is ready to help. From preventative maintenance to urgent repairs, their team is built to support Northern Virginia homeowners for the long run. “Our clients choose us because they value experienced technicians, reliable solutions, and clear communication. They want the peace of mind that comes from working with a team that knows their home and will be there year after year to take care of it the right way.”
Schedule service, ask about maintenance plans, or simply start the conversation today. Experience what it’s like to have a home services partner you can truly rely on.

Paik meet THE
FAMILY

A season of blessings

The Paik family moved to Willowsford just last year and already feel deeply grateful to call the Grove home.

“We are so thankful for the warm welcomes from all our new neighbors,” Eddie shares. “The kids love their new school, their new friends, and most of all their new neighborhood. I’m amazed at everything this community has to offer — we should have moved here much sooner.”
Eddie was born in Washington, DC, grew up in Maryland, and later settled in Virginia. Erica grew up in South Korea before coming to the United States to study. She attended George Mason University, where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano performance.
“We were just two musicians who fell in love and started a family,” Eddie recalls. Music continues to shape both their personal and professional lives. Eddie is a piano tuner, and Erica is a concert pianist. Together they own Paik’s Piano House, where they provide piano tuning and repair services, and Erica offers accompaniment for performers and events. Eddie also serves as a piano technician for Loudoun County Public Schools as well as many private schools,
churches, venues, and residences from Loudoun County to Washington, DC. Erica accompanies the dance department at George Mason University and performs at private and corporate events throughout the region.
Their shared passion for music not only brought them together but, as Eddie says, “continues to bring success in our careers.”
The couple has three daughters — Eline (10), Kiley (7), and baby Laura (4 months), along with a beloved dog named Whiskey, a Pomsky (a Pomeranian-Husky mix) who looks like a miniature husky but has the friendly temperament of a Pomeranian.
Eline is deeply committed to ballet and trains with The Washington Ballet in DC, keeping her parents busy with multiple weekly trips into the city. She is frequently cast in professional productions alongside company dancers and recently completed a month-long run of The Nutcracker at the Warner Theatre. She is now preparing for her division’s spring showcase.
Seven-year-old Kiley loves spending time outdoors with friends and is

embracing her new role as a big sister. Since Laura’s arrival last September, Kiley is no longer the youngest and takes her responsibilities very seriously. All three girls are eagerly awaiting the reopening of the Lodge pool this summer, their favorite place in Willowsford.
With the demands of running a small business and managing busy afterschool schedules, extended vacations can be difficult. Instead, the family enjoys occasional “staycations” in Washington, DC, spending long weekends at a favorite five-star hotel and exploring the city’s many attractions. When possible, they close the shop for a month in the summer to visit family in Korea.
This season of life feels especially meaningful for the Paiks. After raising two school-age daughters, they are once again caring for a newborn and cherishing every moment.
“It’s amazing watching the girls step up with so much patience and love for the baby,” Eddie says. “We feel incredibly blessed to see our family grow, not just in number, but in heart.”
When asked to describe their family in three words, Eddie’s response was simple: “God is good.”

Making Beauty Personal

Beyond the Books
Makerspace madness at Gum Spring Library!
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER ZIYAD RAFI
Today I’m going to tell you about the Makerspace in the Gum Spring Library. It all started when my mom found out there was a Makerspace in our public library where you can do creative projects, so we went to check it out. There were so many different things to do and some really interesting equipment. The librarian was super helpful and gave us a tour of all the space.
The first thing I tried was the 3D printer. I went on Tinkercad and made a super long snake, then my dad went on their website and submitted it. Later, I figured out how to import things from a website called Thingiverse. The 3D printer works because you send a file to it, and it is technically just a 3D pen moving by itself.

My mom does many projects on a machine called the Cameo Cutter. The Cameo is like a big sticker cutting machine. It cuts vinyl to make custom things like personalized stickers for goodie bags, mugs, bottles, notebooks, etc. She created a couple for our birthday backdrops!
We also explored subliminal printing. We created custom mugs using that. On Canva, you create custom designs, and then you go to the library to print them out, and then stick them on the mugs. To finish, you heat them in the machine at 450 F and wait for them to cool down before peeling off the backing.
We also used the laser printer/cutter called Glowforge. With that, you can cut, engrave, and score various materials like wood, leather, and acrylic. We cut various images like Minecraft and Fortnite,
painted them, and made circular custom name boards to hang above our beds. We also tried a heat press for shirts, where you create designs on Canva and put them on a blank shirt. It has to be white if you want the picture to be brightly colored. It’s just a big iron

heating a picture on the shirt, kind of like the subliminal process, but on a shirt. I created a shirt with my name in a Halo
There are many more cool things that you can do there. Other miscellaneous equipment in the Makerspace includes:

Makey, Little Bits, Spheros, Ozobots, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi
Large-scale laminator
Ellison die cutter
Digitization Equipment to convert legacy formats to modern files to preserve your memories
Button maker to make badges
Hope you check them out! This is a great place to explore during Spring Break. It is super amazing and fun.

DRIVEN BY CONNECTION

Growing up in the Willowsford community, I always felt seen and supported! That sense of belonging shaped who I am and inspired me to create Enfinite Marketing as a way to give back and help others experience that same connection. My name is Evie Garcia, and I am a recent Virginia Tech graduate who loves giving back to the community that has always been there for me! Having spent my entire life in Ashburn, this community is truly a part of who I am, and Enfinite Marketing is an extension of that connection. I have always been drawn to advertising, and I wanted to create something of my own, something that helps local businesses thrive. At Enfinite, I focus on building creative, consistent social media content that reflects each business’s unique identity. My goal is to make social media simple, effective, and stress-free, so business owners can focus on what they do best.
I didn’t just jump into social media. I studied it at Virginia Tech and learned how to create strategies that help businesses tell their story the way they want. Social media is something that comes naturally to me because it aligns with how I see the world! I have always loved being creative, noticing visuals, messaging, and ideas everywhere. Marketing allows me to take those instincts and turn them into strategies that truly make an impact.
Enfinite isn’t only about marketing. It’s an outlet for genuine connection, a space where I can share who I am while truly getting to know the people I work with. I love helping local businesses, but what makes it meaningful is building relationships and being part of a community. I would love to connect with more people here and support you however I can. Feel free to reach out to me on Instagram @enfinitemarketing, whether you have a question, want advice, or just want to chat. I can’t wait to get to know you!

A Fresh Pour to Start the Year
The Stroll Coffee & Connections Networking Breakfast set a welcoming tone for 2026 in the heart of Willowsford. Held on February 19 at The Sycamore House, the morning brought together Stroll partners, Willowsford residents, and partners from our sister magazine, BeLocal Loudoun County, for a gathering centered on conversation, connection, and community.
From the moment guests arrived, the room quickly filled with introductions as familiar faces reconnected and new ones were welcomed into the circle. The relaxed setting inside The Sycamore House created an atmosphere where conversations unfold easily, and residents connect with the trusted local businesses and community partners who serve Willowsford, many of whom also call the community home.
Guests were welcomed with a generous breakfast spread and
coffee provided by Advanced Corrective Chiropractic and Greenleaf Corporate Catering by Root & Stem. The thoughtfully designed spread allowed guests to enjoy a bite while easily grabbing something between networking activities without missing a moment of the conversations.
A guided networking activity kept the energy high, guiding guests through several rounds of conversation designed to spark introductions and encourage connections. As attendees moved from group to group, the format made it easy to meet new people while sharing about businesses, interests, and community involvement in a relaxed and engaging way.
Adding a thoughtful community touch, Stroll’s Junior Writers recently gathered to create handmade Valentine cards for the magazine’s sponsors. The cards were displayed along the long table during the event, offering a small
but meaningful reminder that Stroll is built on appreciation, relationships, and community pride.
The morning concluded with one of Stroll Coffee & Connections' favorite traditions: the door prize exchange. Guests who chose to bring a small item had the opportunity to briefly introduce themselves to the group, sparking laughter, conversation, and new connections that often continue long after the event ends.
At its core, the goal of Coffee & Connections is simple: helping trusted local businesses and residents connect, build real relationships, and support one another in strengthening the Willowsford community.
Join us at our next networking event on May 14th from 9:30 -11 am at Fleetwood Farm Winery, sponsored by Golden Rule Builders. RSVP here: https:// StrollCCMay26.eventbrite.com

Our partners were treated to handmade Valentines from our Junior Writers at Coffee & Connections, and attendees absolutely loved them.

SCHOOL the coder
Ashburn

or many Loudoun County families, summer often feels like a pause in learning, but at theCoderSchool Ashburn, it’s a continuation. Their summer coding camps keep young minds active and confident, helping students build on skills developed throughout the school year.
For co-owner Ellen Hamel, theCoderSchool’s mission is personal. “Our oldest son, Cooper, inspired us to open theCoderSchool,” she explains. “Coding helped him overcome challenges from being born with hydrocephalus. Opening the school was our way to pay it forward.”
With backgrounds in technology and medicine, Ellen and her husband, Chad, know how vital logic, problemsolving, and computational thinking are for success. They created a program centered on real instruction, not just screen time—an approach that carries into their summer camps. “We’re known for customized after-school programs, but our summer camps keep kids engaged with computer science while school’s out,” Ellen says. Camps cover topics kids love, like game development, robotics, Minecraft, Roblox, and web design, making learning enjoyable.
Where Summer Learning Keeps Growing
WRITTEN BY STROLL WILLOWSFORD STAFF WRITER LIA HOBEL
These camps stand out for their low student-to-coach ratio and instructordriven model. “Our program is personalized,” Ellen says. “We teach everything from beginner to collegelevel computer science in languages like Scratch, Python, and Java.” This ensures summer learning supports what students know and gives newcomers a strong start. Each camp combines structured coding with breaks and group activities. At week’s end, students present projects, building technical skills, confidence, and communication. “Students don’t just learn to code,” Ellen notes. “They develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills for school and beyond.”
Families have seen students thrive academically, build confidence, and earn acceptance into programs like the Academies of Loudoun and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology.
Popular offerings such as Kick ’N Code with Loudoun Soccer and Skate ’N Code with Ashburn Ice House combine physical activity with coding, offering a fullday, well-rounded experience that both parents and kids can be happy about.

My Marvelous Mexico Trip
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER EMMANUELLE REDDY, THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY CARDINAL PLUMBING HEATING & AIR
THIS SUMMER, I took a 3-hour plane ride across the Caribbean Sea to get to Cancun, Mexico, for the second time with my family. I stayed at a beautiful resort called Iberostar Maya Suites, where the experience was life-changing. I also met a lifelong friend who lives in Chicago, and we still talk all the time!
Iberostar was one of the coolest resorts, considering the service by the beachside, the fun activities at night, and the delicious food. The service was beautifully done. The employees were so nice and clearly loved their job. We always went to the stage after dinner because they let kids go onstage and join the fun every time. The food was seriously flawless. There were so many options on where to eat, but since we were in Mexico for a week, we had to try them all. Mexico was also home to the Coati, which I thought at first was a hybrid between a raccoon and a meerkat. The baby Coatis were roaming around the beach, bringing sunshine into everyone’s day. One even stole my brothers hotdog from his hand!

But lastly, the beach took my breath away when I saw it again. I felt at home when I saw the teal, clear water. When I sank my feet in the sand, it felt as if the sun was giving me one giant hug. I loved Cancun, Mexico’s beach, and will always remember it.

Egg-cellent Morning Bite
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER IBRAHIM MANSOOR

LIFE IS VERY BUSY; there might not even be enough time to make an enjoyable, healthy breakfast. Just because things feel like that doesn’t mean that it is true! As there is a healthy, enjoyable breakfast that can be made in under 10 minutes, I call it “Omelet Croissant”. This masterpiece is filled with an omelet and also a little bit of cheese, but to enjoy this dish, you must make it. All you need are the following items.
Ingredients:
• Croissant • 1 egg (Willowsford eggs are best!)
• 1 tsp of butter • Slice of cheddar cheese
• Salt and pepper
Instructions:
1. Crack the egg and put it in a bowl, then use a fork to whisk the yolk until it looks completely orange. Add salt and pepper to taste.
2. Cut the croissant in half from the middle.
3. Put butter in a pan on the stovetop, and turn the burner to a medium temperature.
4. Start tilting the pan to move the melting butter to spots of the pan that have not been covered.
5. Pour the egg into the pan. Wait 30 to 40 seconds, then flip the omelet, and wait 30 to 40 seconds again, or till it’s done on both sides.
6. Tear the cheese into small pieces, then scatter the pieces of cheese onto one side of the omelet.
7. Fold the omelet in half using a spatula (the side with no cheese onto the side with cheese).
8. Take the omelet out of the pan and place it inside the croissant; it’s okay if it doesn’t fit.
9. Place the croissant back on the pan and cook both sides for another 10-15 seconds till golden brown. Now you can finally enjoy your masterpiece!

HEN HOUSE HAPPENINGS
Clucks, chaos, and collecting eggs
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER SONALI KAPOOOR, THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY LOUDOUN COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL
IN THE FALL, I had the immense pleasure of going to our very own Willowsford farm to collect chicken eggs. The farm has 500 hens! We got to go inside their enclosure, where we interacted with the hens, and then we got baskets and started collecting the eggs. The whole experience was really exciting, but it was also a little overwhelming. The hens were very energetic, and sometimes flew unexpectedly. I will admit, I might’ve screamed once or twice, or maybe three times, but eventually I got into the rhythm
of things. The coolest part: getting to take home the eggs for free! But this also puts the job of the farmers who manage the chickens into perspective. That job is no joke. You’re collecting eggs while 500 chickens are clucking at the top of their lungs. If I had to do that every day, I wouldn’t last a week. They work so hard, doing so much for our community! The best part of this whole experience, along with collecting the eggs, was my chance at getting to interview farmer Anna. She was in charge of the Meet the Chickens event.
What inspired you to be a farmer?
Well, my grandfather, my mom’s father, was a dairy farmer, and he had dairy cows. When I was a little girl, I would visit their farm and see the cows, and I always thought to myself about how nice it would be to have my very own farm! When I was in high school and in college, I thought I wanted to be a psychologist, but then I realized I really enjoyed being outside! So I decided after a while, after working in a different field, that I really wanted to do

something involving outdoors and food, and with my grandfather being a dairy farmer, I thought that farming would be a good fit for me.
How long have you been farming for?
So I have been farming since 2021, and I first started here at Willowsford. This is actually my first farming job! Farmer Andy was very nice and took a chance on me even though I did not have any previous experience, but I have learned a lot since being here. I started out in the field, so I started by planting the vegetables, harvesting the vegetables, weeding, and taking care of the chickens, as you know. But now my role has slightly changed, so in addition to all of those things, I also help with the CSA, and I do a lot of work on the computer, which frees up the other farmers to do more things outside.
Why are eggs so expensive?
Bird Flu has a big role in this problem. Just like humans, birds can get sick too. They can get a version of the flu, and unfortunately, it’s not like our version of the flu, where we can stay at home and rest for a little bit and get better. Birds that get bird flu tend to get really, really sick, and a lot of times they don’t make it. When there’s a bird flu outbreak, it doesn’t just affect small farms like ours; it also affects larger farms. There are Tysons and Purdue, which produce a lot of chicken that you might buy at the store, and they have way more chickens than we do. We have 500, they would have over one million! That means that when many chickens get sick with the bird flu, there will be less eggs, and that means to get money, these big companies have to increase the price of the eggs. It’s kind of like supply and demand, because many people use and want eggs, but there’s not enough to go around, so that results in the price of eggs increasing.
What makes the Willowsford Farm so special?
I think that special is a really subjective word, and it means something different for everybody. What makes Willowsford Farm special for me personally is that it’s in such a wonderful community. I think what’s really cool about it is that it’s not just a farm stand on the side of the road
you might stop at during a road trip, but it’s really in the heart of a neighborhood, and it has people around it that really care about it. For example, they might come to meet the chickens, or they come to see us at the farm, or maybe they go to a CSA dinner. That’s what I find really special, because there is a community around the farm, and it’s not just a farm out in
the middle of nowhere that’s growing vegetables. Another thing that makes Willowsford Farm special is the fact that we do so much with kids. Some farms do things with children, but many don’t, and I think that it’s really wonderful that we do so much with the kids. They come on the farm, help harvest vegetables, collect eggs, and much more!

What’s the most difficult part about farming?
The most difficult part about farming is, well, the weather, because you don’t know what the weather is going to be like. Right now at night, it’s getting super cold, and so it might say in the morning in the forecast, that at night it’s going to get down to 40 degrees, but when afternoon comes, it’s saying it’s going down to 35 degrees, and that’s a big difference for the plants between those two temperatures. So I think that a hard part of farming is definitely managing what the weather is going to be like, and not necessarily if it’s raining or storming, just what the temperature is going to be. Another difficult part about farming is not getting attached to the animals! For example, our flock of chickens, we raised them since they were fluffy baby chicks, and it’s really hard not to get attached to them and think of them as all of your pets! But they’re hard at work, just like we are. I think that’s the hardest part for me personally, is not getting attached to all the animals.

Getting to see all the chickens was amazing! I loved learning about them and collecting eggs. Getting to interview farmer Anna was such a pleasure! All the farmers do so much for our incredible community. There are also so many other activities you could do in our neighborhood. Whether it’s meeting the chickens like I did, harvesting vegetables, or going to social events, our community has so much to offer, so you can never be bored! Be sure to check out the Conservancy website for upcoming Meet the Chickens dates this spring! Where

DESIGNED TO DWELL
RESIDENT AND JUNIOR EDITOR KIAAN SARAIYA
Walking into a house designed by 325 Main Design, you instantly feel warmth, comfort, and most importantly, at home. There’s a sense of comfort and beauty that just makes a house feel like home, and 325 Main Design embodies that through the work. But did you know that the owner of 325 Main Designs actually lives right here in our community? Behind these inviting creations is Amber Lipple, a Willowsford resident who has a strong passion for what she does.
After earning her business degree in marketing, Amber began her career in consumer research at Unilever in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. But when life brought her to Virginia, she decided it was time for a new chapter that explored her passion. In 2019, she took a leap of faith and launched 325 Main Designs, a boutique interior design business inspired by her grandmother’s home on 325 Main Street. “It wasn’t just the aesthetics that made it special — it

was how it felt. Walking through her front door was like receiving a big, warm hug,” she recalls.
Interior design was also part of Amber’s journey. As a child, she would pore over the Sears catalog at her grandmother’s house, fascinated by every page. Each new season, she’d beg her parents to let her redecorate her bedroom, chasing that same spark of creativity and renewal that continues to guide her work today. However, rather than rigid rules, Amber’s work is very personal. “My favorite home style is my client’s home style,” she explains. “Every project is a reflection of the people who live there — their lifestyle, memories, and the way they want their home to feel and function. The projects aren’t about me; they’re about you.” This is her philosophy when running her business, and the business has grown to be extremely successful, a testament to her genuine relationships with clients and the trust she builds in every collaboration.
I experienced that philosophy firsthand when she helped redesign my own room. Instead of using a preset style, she asked how I use the space, what my preferences were, and what atmosphere resonates most with me. She rethought the layout for better flow, adjusted lighting to improve both mood and functionality, and incorporated great storage within my desk. The result was not just a more visually appealing room, but a room intentionally designed around how I live.
Although most of her projects are based in Loudoun County, especially new homes, Amber loves finding unique ways to add character and personality to each space through color and details to make the home feel comforting. When asked about the future, she says, “I don’t know exactly what’s ahead — and that’s perfectly fine. As long as people keep inviting me into their homes and trusting me to bring their spaces to life, I’ll keep doing what I love.” As for inspiration, Amber admires her beloved “Mummum” who was the inspiration for the name of the business. Furthermore, she idolizes Joanna Gaines and her approach of creating homes rooted in love and story, which is a belief Amber tries to replicate every day. We

CRAWL
Four villages. Countless ways to play.
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER DOMINICK HALAVIK
With spring officially here, is your family craving a funfilled adventure right in your very own backyard? If so, you should plan on visiting the many playgrounds located right here in Willowsford. I recently stopped by each village to check out the features that some of our playgrounds have to offer. I hope you enjoy my reviews and that you will enjoy our beautiful neighborhood this spring and beyond.
My first stop was to one of my favorite places in the Grove, Overlook Knoll Park. This hidden gem is located down a trail off Blossom Glade Drive and features a mini zip line and obstacle courses. The zip line has a seat big enough to accommodate all ages and sizes and allows the option to either sit or stand while soaring through the scenic wilderness. If you are at the park with friends and are waiting for a turn on the

zip line, I highly recommend checking out the two obstacle courses located there. The courses consist of ropes, a balance beam, and a rickety bridge.
Next, I headed to the Greens to visit Willowsford’s newest facility, the Lodge Playground. In addition to the playground, which includes swings, climbing structures, and slides, you are also walking distance to the Lodge, the pool, sand volleyball courts, grills, bocce ball courts, sports fields, and the beautiful Willow Lake. If you visit in the winter, a bonus feature is that it is also very close to the sledding hills. It’s the most fun way to enjoy the snowy weather! This playground offers a little something for everyone and is a great option to visit year-round.
After that, I crossed Rt 50 and headed to the Grant to explore Everfield Community Park. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by

deer munching on leaves in the forest. I always love seeing wildlife in their natural habitat. This tranquil park’s unique features include a disc golf course, a dog park called Bella’s Bark-A-Lot, grassy fields, a pavilion with grills and picnic tables, and two playgrounds. The playgrounds include rope climbing structures, slides, and swings. This is the perfect park for adults, kids, and furry friends.
The final park I visited was more difficult to find but totally worth the journey. Located on Hepatica Court in the Grange, you will find Bear Barn Playground. From the street, I walked on an asphalt trail, followed by a grass trail, and eventually came to my destination, which reminded me of an enchanted forest. Surrounded by tall trees, the playground houses Bear Barn Tree House, which consists of slides, a rock wall, swings, and picnic tables. It’s the perfect place to visit if you’re looking to explore nature and get off the beaten path.
I hope I have piqued your interest and encouraged you to explore some new and interesting places within Willowsford. I feel very lucky to live in a neighborhood that is so diverse and filled with unlimited adventures. To check out all of Willowsford’s parks and playgrounds, please visit willowsfordlife.com.

Snowy Studio Session
On a frigid day in February, the Stroll Junior Writer team braved the snow and met at Kidcreate Studio Ashburn for our monthly meeting.
Creativity beats cold
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER SONALI KAPOOR

Kidcreate Studio was created in 2007 by Lara Olsen after wanting to give her son more exposure to art outside of school. She was motivated to create an art school where children could express themselves and be creative, but also where they could be educated about art. On school holidays and other days when school is off, Kidcreate Studio has fun, creative classes to participate in. They also host classes in schools and local libraries, which is both convenient and inclusive!
In the front of the studio, there are some comfy seats to lounge on, and there are also D.I.Y craft sets made by Kidcreate Studio and WonderSpark Co. that you can buy for affordable prices. The studio’s tables for art projects are very accommodating, allowing for multiple and varied projects to occur without clutter or disruption. Kidcreate Studio also has highquality art supplies, so no supplies are dried out or broken.
Ashleigh Michael, the Marketing Administrator at Kidcreate Studio in Ashburn, answered all of our questions and took us on a small tour of the organized studio. She also had a

connection with Applebee’s, so we had a delicious spread of many savory foods, including chicken wonton tacos, boneless wings, brew pub pretzels, and white queso dip with chips. It really hit the spot!
At the studio, we made heartfelt appreciation cards for our spectacular sponsors! We are so grateful for our amazing sponsors and all they do for Stroll!
Something special about Kidcreate is that they have kind teachers who can help you. The teachers there take their time to explain what to do so that you can get every detail right. I should know, because when I was in 2nd grade, I did a Kidcreate after-school class. All the teachers were so pleasant and assisted me whenever I needed.
Kidcreate Studio isn’t just a random art studio; it’s a community that is alive and inspiring. From passionate art aficionados to beginners who have never held a paintbrush, Kidcreate Studio teaches you how to create masterpieces and to unleash your inner artistic ability!

ChocoLot of Love
Take a chocolate break with bean-to-bar bites, tastings, and cocoa creations
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER HANNA STOLLE
IF YOU’RE A CHOCOLATE LOVER, I have great news. There is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory in our backyard called River-Sea Chocolates. I have personally visited this location numerous times to enjoy chocolate and their amazing drinking chocolate for a relaxing afternoon. They also sell the best gift boxes if you’re looking for a present!
Krissee and Mariano started making chocolate in 2017 while visiting family in Northern Brazil, where they realized that the delicious food could be a connecting bridge between their life in DC and their community in Brazil.

I interviewed Dave Przybysz, Outreach Director for River-Sea Chocolates. David has known Krissee and Mariano for 15 years and left his corporate job to promote RiverSea and connect more of our community to their very special chocolate. David’s favorite bars are the Cherry Blossom dark chocolate and the Peru single-origin bar. He describes this company as “Inspired by cacao and the rainforests and rivers that nurture it, we make chocolate that is bold in flavor, ethically sourced, and passionately made. We work directly with cacao growers and import our cacao via wind-powered sailing ships whenever

possible, ensuring traceability while reducing our environmental impact. A love for connecting people with the planet, nourishment, and the sweet moments seeded through sharing chocolate is at the heart of everything we do.”
At the Chantilly location, you can enjoy sampling 10 different varieties of hot chocolate or book a reservation for a chocolate tasting. River-Sea is adding the ability to host private events and
corporate parties. According to David, “Chocolate is my favorite thing to steal from my kids’ Halloween buckets. I thought I was getting good chocolate from the stores. But at River-Sea, I found chocolate and those that make it have so much more depth to them. It brings me joy to play a small part in it.”
If you really love chocolate, you can join their Exotic Chocolate Lovers Club and taste unique varieties every month.

Visit the website at riverseachocolates. com for complete details. These are a few of the tastings you can reserve. Go visit at 4520 Daly Dr, Suite 100 in Chantilly. You will not be disappointed!
