01 The Vertical Barrios: Tower (D4)
02: Investigating Cultural Artifacts: Ruins (D3)
03: Exposing Thresholds, Distance, and Measure: Door, Window, Stair (D3)

This project analyzes vertical constraint with regard to the attachment of a pre-existing building, and how design is able to construe solutions for individuals residing within disadvantaged backgrounds and situations. Understanding between relationships of resources, sky, and community.

This project discusses how site can influence the design decisions one makes, with scale and hierarchy influencing those choices even greater. Old Nolli mappings were analyzed, giving birth to ideas about function, directionality, and inhabitation within a sequence of programs regarding the creation of Roman fountains. Collaging, sectioning, and establishment of nodes of interest were enacted, with portioning of significance being important to the cause of creation.

This project focuses on specific thresholds as an individual transverses through a sequence of spaces. Stairs are utilized as vertical ascensions in order to reach higher elevations, with doors and windows acting as more conceptual levels of movement. Analysis of the film Stalker by Andrey Tarkovsky was done in order to maintain a sense of zones and charged fields, serving as a significant spacial generator.
